Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Samantha and Josie, a sweet bonded pair looking for a loving forever home. These girls share a very special bond and must be adopted together. They really do love each other. They are perfectly comfortable doing their own thing throughout the day, but when it’s time to settle down, you can almost always find them snuggled up together. They nap together, sleep together, and clearly find comfort in having each other nearby. Samantha is a larger Dachshund mix at around 20 pounds who came to us already missing one eye. We don’t know how or when it happened, but it certainly hasn’t stopped her from enjoying life. Samantha is all about her person. She likes to stay close to wherever the action is, especially if affection or food might be involved. If you have a lap available, Samantha will happily volunteer to fill it. She can be a little unsure of strangers at first and may bark until she feels safe, but once she trusts you, she is incredibly affectionate and loyal. Josie is around 25 pounds and is the more independent and investigative of the two. She was very shy when she first arrived in foster care, but she has blossomed beautifully. Josie enjoys heading outside with the bigger dogs to investigate everything happening.  She enjoys her independence but never strays too far from the ones she loves. Both girls enjoy the company of other dogs and are much more interested in companionship than toys, although Samantha will occasionally enjoy a Nylabone. They are crate trained and do well eating and sleeping in their crates, but given the choice, they would much rather be curled up somewhere comfortable together. Josie is still working on potty training and continues to make progress. They have not been tested with children or cats because their foster home does not have either. Samantha and Josie don’t need to be attached at the hip every minute of the day, but they always seem to find their way back to each other. Their bond is incredibly sweet, and because of that, they will only be considered for a forever home where they can remain together. They’ve already found their best friend in each other. Now they just need a family to love them both.       Medical Notes: Spayed Vaccinated Microchipped Heartworm Negative ProHeart 12 Injection Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 18, 2026, 10:49 am

Story
Wendell is a young VERY SWEET daschund mix so has short little legs. He is mixed with who knows how many other breeds but he is cute as heck!  Wendell has come to us Heartworm positive and has entered the treatment phase of that process. He also does have an old injury to his hindquarters that will require an FHO surgery once he is through the HW treatment so probably early Winter of 2026. He also has a neurological issue from that injury (the vet and surgeon agree that he was probably hit by a car and not treated) that does effect his sciatica and causes his little butt to shift out from underneath him sometimes. But please know that NONE of this stops this little guy!!! He is an active, fun little dude who seems good with other dogs and interested in cats. He would probably make a great family pet and is suuuuch a good boy! He is also crate trained and does great in one! The one thing it is important to note for Wendell is that he does have some fecal incontinence which is probably a direct result of his injury and will most likely not improve which is sad because he is only three. BUT. We have learned that if Wendell has a doggie door he can use to access a yard (while you are home of course) then he does seem to have enough notice and time to get out to the yard to potty. This would probably not make him appropriate for an apartment setting though since it would be challenging for them to have a doggie door and a yard. If that were the case, we think he could be in an apartment. Also know that Bonaparte's would be happy to continue the cost of treating his HW and also the surgery when we got to that point.September 17, 2026, 7:10 pm

Story
Miss Mavis is as sweet as your grandma! This beautiful baked bean could fit in your bag and go to work with you! She’s the sweetest little land seal this side of the Cumberland River and is ready to make you her person! Mavis very much enjoys walks as well as rolling in the grass like a little bug. She has whale eyes at first with new people and can read a little shy, but with a day or two, opens up like a sweet rose! She is also a fan of zoomies, so if you have a yard, an obstacle course could prove very entertaining for both of you! She prefers the calm life, and that includes other dog’s energies as well. She gets a little flustered with overstimulated or intense dogs, so peaceful pals are best! She gets along with dogs perfectly and is cohabitating with a few of all sizes and ages in her foster home. If you have kitty friends at home, Mavis has proven non-confrontational with her whiskered encounters. Need to take a road trip? No problem! Mavis likes the 4 wheel life as well, and prefers to take a back seat, literally! And of course, like any good dog, she’s a lover of all things snacks. Meet Mavis today and start living your best life together tomorrow!

Story
Meet Oscar 🐾 Oscar is a one-of-a-kind little guy who is part Dachshund, part Chihuahua part Pittie, part mystery, and 100% lovable! With his long body and short little legs, he’s basically a hot dog with a Pittie smile. 😂❤️ Oscar is super affectionate, playful, and cuddly. At just barely a year old he has plenty of energy and loves to play, but when playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up with his favorite person. He also does wonderfully with other dogs and sleeps like a champ in his crate. 💤 He’s mostly potty trained and is learning more every day. He’s also apparently pursuing a career in interior design—he loves rearranging the dog beds and toys to create what he believes is the perfect layout. 😂 Oscar does have a mischievous side. He LOVES food and may occasionally jump on tables or go looking for snacks. In fact, this little genius has figured out how to open Tupperware! We believe some of this comes from his history of food insecurity, so he’s still learning that he doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal is coming from. ❤️ Oscar is sweet, silly, energetic, affectionate, and just the right amount of naughty. He’s looking for a family who will give him patience, structure, cuddles, playtime, and most importantly, the chance to finally feel safe and loved. Oscar may rearrange your furniture, steal your heart, and possibly figure out your Tupperware… but we promise he’s worth it. 🐶❤️ Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)
