Story
Hi my name is Cookee, and I'm the sweetest treat of a pup that you'll ever meet. People say I remind them of cookies and cream when I give them sweet kisses on the nose or bump up and snuggle with them when they're feeling down. I am a Dachshund-Basset mix, 8-years old, and medium sized about 30# full grown. Sitting on people's couches or laps is my favorite pastime as I get to snuggle close to the people I love, which is practically everyone! I LOVE OTHER DOGS TOO!! I definitely want a home with other dogs :) As I am a bit on the older side and lived on the streets until I was saved with my babies in my tummy. I have been living at my foster home and am ready for my forever HOME!! I will need a patient and loving family to give me a good life of exercise- LOL, playtime, treats, love, affection, and belonging. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
In the heart of bustling San Antonio, where the streets echoed with the sounds of city life, there lived two inseparable companions named Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. They were a unique pair of dachshund/terrier mixes, each with their distinctive personalities and a bond that could weather any storm. Judas Priest, with his soulful brown eyes and a heart as warm as the Texan sun, was the elder of the two. His silky coat shimmered like polished bicolored metal :), and his gentle disposition made him the perfect match for his spirited partner. Iron Maiden, on the other hand, was a whirlwind of energy with a coat as dark as midnight. Her playful nature and boundless enthusiasm for life were contagious. Together, they were a yin and yang, perfectly complementing each other in every way. Their story began on the mean streets of San Antonio, where they faced the harsh realities of life as strays. Despite the odds, they had each other, and their unwavering love and support kept them going through thick and thin. One fateful day, a kind-hearted passerby noticed the inseparable duo, huddled together for warmth beneath a tattered cardboard box. Touched by their devotion and the spark of hope in their eyes, the Good Samaritan decided to rescue them from the streets. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden soon found themselves in a loving foster home, where they flourished. They were house trained, well-behaved, and showered their foster family with affection. However, it was clear that their bond was unbreakable, and they simply couldn't bear to be apart. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden bring boundless joy and endless laughter to their foster home, proving that love, loyalty, and the unbreakable bond between two souls could overcome even the toughest of beginnings. They are now ready for YOUR HOME!!! Adopt these two and you will seal the deal for them for the rest of their lives :) Local adoption fee is $400 (together in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $800 (together and includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Ida is an incredibly sweet 14 year old senior DOLL! She loves to be held, she is great with other dogs, and has the best temperament! The vet does believe that she suffered from a spinal injury while with a previous owner some time in her past so she does have mobility issues in her hind legs but she has begun physical therapy and is doing AMAZING! We also believe that Ida is in the beginning stage of kidney disease so while she's not on any special medications she does have prescription kidney food. Ida would be a wonderful addition to any home and is just an absolute darling!September 22, 2023, 12:29 pm

Story
Meet Milo, a 10-year-old smooth-haired Dachshund mix with a striking black and brown coat, accentuated by a sprinkling of gray on his muzzle. His warm brown eyes and sweet smile instantly melt hearts. With his short legs and long body, he's the epitome of Dachshund charm. Milo's friendly nature is his standout feature. He adores human company, relishing every moment he spends being petted. His journey to New Leash on Life began when his senior humans, no longer able to provide for his care, entrusted him to the loving arms of the rescue. Milo is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. Regular flea/tick and heartworm prevention are also in place. Milo will soon be available for adoption after he undergoes a routine dental procedure to ensure his continued health and well-being. Keep an eye out for updates on Milo's availability, as he's sure to bring joy and companionship to a lucky family in the near future! His adoption fee is $150, a small investment in exchange for a lifetime of love, companionship, and the joy. If you're interested in providing Milo with a loving forever home, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. **All New Leash on Life dogs must be adopted to families willing to have their pets be allowed inside - especially at night. No dog is allowed to be put on a "tie out" or chain outside and should be walked on a leash when not in a fenced in yard. ** (Pet ID D23-143)

Story
4-15-23 Miss Piper is an older but not old gal! She's still enjoys playing, she enjoys walks, house trained, gets along with other dogs, she would enjoy a couch/ bed to sit down and snuggle with her own human, though she doesn't mind sharing.Update 3/15/23: Piper... This girl is what we may call , a fine glass of wine, been there done that, just looking for a place to lay and chill out her days .She enjoys walks , is house trained let’s you know , is said to use pads as a back up plan , we were told she is 12 but I’m not buying it she a bit younger than that! Is said to be apprehensive of males , Have not introduced yet , met granddaughter with no issues , would rather not be in a house of crazy dogs would be fine as only dog . If you have room on you lap or couch and would like some company she’s your girlThis sweet girl was being turned in at a pound by a senior lady unable to care for her anymore , some one took her in and took her home and got her into our rescue. She is very sweet a little skeptical at first,  but adapts right away , house and pad trained .May have some issues with males , was mistreated at some point , the elderly woman said she saved her from a bad situation 6 years prior . Wouldn't it be great to get this girl into her last forever home where she could live out the rest of her life safe and secure.September 25, 2023, 5:59 am

Story
When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I am ready when you are, do your stuff so we can ride off into the sunset, in air conditioning, of course! Adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)
