Chaplin is a delightful double dapple (double merle) mini dachshund. She was a stray languishing in the Hondo shelter before pulled by God’s Dogs Rescue. Chaplin got her name because of the distinctive little “mustache” ( ) on her upper lip. Despite her diminutive size (11.4#), she is 100% dachshund! She loves to play, to chase, and to burrow. No pile of unfolded laundry is safe! Finding her in the clothes pile becomes akin to a “Where’s Waldo” puzzle. Given her coloring pattern, she is hard of hearing. She has minimal hearing in her L ear only. Chaplin is ready for her forever home that will adore her for the treasure that she is. He adores curling up under blankets, snoozing in a cozy dog bed (or yours!), and spending quality time relaxing in a recliner with his people. His gentle, affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion. Waldo gets along well with dogs of all sizes and has a calm, loving demeanor. He’s truly a cuddle-bug who just wants to be close to his humans. Medically, Waldo has Degenerative Valve Disease (advanced) and is currently classified as Stage B2. This is what a dog does when he discovers that his owners no longer want him. Poor Si has shut down. He has slept or pretending to for 3 days. Ever since he was taken to our vet. Now he sits in boarding still pretending to not notice that nice people are trying to help him feel loved again. Finally lifting his head a minute when he hears voice coming to adopt a different dog. When they leave his little head drops back down. Sineed time to recover. It will be hard iwhen he does not have a home to recover in. Please open your home to this poor soul. Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters.The application is the first step. Pleae complete the adoption (or foster) application here: https://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/You will be contacted if further information is needed.  We are 100% volunteer powered. Volunteers process the applications and need time above their personal needs and full-time jobs to process the apps.Please have patience.
