Story
Meet Onyx, a charming little puppy with a big personality. She may be a low-riding mix of Australian cattle dog, Labrador, and Basset hound, but that doesn't stop her from tearing around the yard at top speed, often outpacing her golden retriever foster sister. Athletic and energetic, she loves staying active both physically and mentally. Onyx enjoys the great outdoors just as much as cozy time inside, happily cuddling up for a movie or TV show. No matter your lifestyle, she's sure to be a wonderful addition to the family. She's available for adoption through www.dallasdog.org. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Their story is one of those “this is why rescue exists” moments. This mom and her puppies were found running loose in South Texas, trying to survive on their own. At one point, one of the puppies actually fell into a drain, and the Donna Fire Department had to come out and rescue him. Thankfully they were able to pull the puppy out safely, and the whole little family is now on their way to us.

Story
Sophie is a loving 3-year-old brindle dachshund mix who has been part of our family since she was a puppy. She’s playful, affectionate, and full of personality. Sophie loves walks, cuddling on the couch, toys, and being close to her people. She’s very loyal and makes a great companion for someone who wants an active but loving dog.She does best with consistency and continued leash training, as she can get excited when meeting new people or dogs. She’s smart, food-motivated, and eager to bond with her person. Sophie is great with kids, cats, and other dogs, and she’s never bitten anyone. We’re rehoming her because with five children and upcoming life changes, we can’t give her the time and attention she deserves. We truly want her to have a stable, loving home where she can thrive.

Story
After knowing Chiquita her whole life (11 years), we adopted her from my sister-in-law after seeing how bothered she was by having my nieces around her. She was skin and bones when my sister-in-law decided she'd have to put her in a shelter. I thought, since our son is a bit older than my nieces, maybe we could keep her. We've had her for 2 years now, and she is healthy. However, small kids still bother her. She has snapped at my son's legs while he is running through the house on occasion but recently snapped at him in the face when he attempted to pick her up. Aside from this issue, she is very sweet and affectionate, but I cannot ensure my son and nieces won't touch her in a way that makes her uncomfortable. She deserves a home with no small children.
