Story
Penny and Poppy are a bonded pair from Louisiana. They were surrendered to a high kill shelter by their owner. One of our FABULOUS foster families happened to be in New Orleans and went hours out of their way to bring them to us! (We have the best fosters!) Anyway, we spayed them, got vaccines and started them on treatment for heartworms. Should they be adopted while being treated for heartworms, Hound Rescue will cover the heartworm treatment if Emancipet is used. Our wonderful vets at Daylily Animal Hospital think they are around 1 to 2 years old. We think Poppy is a Beagle mix and Penny is a Dachshund mix. They are each under 20 pounds. They were terrified of humans at first but are coming around. They are sweet, obedient, and very polite. No mischief and absolutely love snuggling! No need to crate as they are house trained. They are learning to walk on leashes and to play with toys! They both have great recall and are food focus, so training with treats makes great progress. Penny's foster has noticed she displays beagle characteristics during her walks with her nose to the ground taking in all the scents. They would make a great pair for a family looking to expand with smaller dogs.

Story
This is Pepe, a 17 pound, two-year-old (best guess) that is the combination of perfect size, age and temperament. Pepe is a sweet boy -- very affectionate and curious. He walks well on a leash and loves to sit in laps and to be held. Pepe responds to the sit command for treats. Pepe attended a recent WAG Adoption Day event. He was a dream riding in the car. He jumped in without hesitation, waited patiently as he was buckled in and sat calmly in his seat during the ride to the event. He was well behaved during the event, happily greeting everyone who stopped by. To meet Pepe, please go to https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/WAGR-A-1147 to fill out an application. There is no obligation to adopt a dog when you submit an application. Thank you!
