Story
Penny and Poppy are a bonded pair from Louisiana. They were surrendered to a high kill shelter by their owner. One of our FABULOUS foster families happened to be in New Orleans and went hours out of their way to bring them to us! (We have the best fosters!) Anyway, we spayed them, got vaccines and started them on treatment for heartworms. Should they be adopted while being treated for heartworms, Hound Rescue will cover the heartworm treatment if Emancipet is used. Our wonderful vets at Daylily Animal Hospital think they are around 1 to 2 years old. We think Poppy is a Beagle mix and Penny is a Dachshund mix. They are each under 20 pounds. They were terrified of humans at first but are coming around. They are sweet, obedient, and very polite. No mischief and absolutely love snuggling! No need to crate as they are house trained. They are learning to walk on leashes and to play with toys! They both have great recall and are food focus, so training with treats makes great progress. Penny's foster has noticed she displays beagle characteristics during her walks with her nose to the ground taking in all the scents. They would make a great pair for a family looking to expand with smaller dogs.

Story
Ruger is a Bassett Hound mix. We are unsure of what he is mixed with. Ruger enjoys napping, running around outside, playing with his toys and most of all, snuggling with someone. He is a great fit for a family without young children as he is sometimes a food guarder and does not always like when you get too close to his food/bones. With just a little special attention to these needs, he is a really great dog that can get along with anybody who will give him attention! Ruger has been to dog parks and done well with other dogs but can be selective at times as he does like to be the alpha dog. He is very well house trained and has never chewed furniture or had accidents in the house. He enjoys being inside most of the time but if the weather is nice, he loves running around exploring in the backyard for hours. Tricks he knows: sit, shake, lay down and stay. We will not charge an adoption fee and he will come with his toys, bedding, kennels, leashes and collars, food and food containers
