Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi! I’m Rhen. I’m a little Chiweenie with a big heart. I’m about 12 lbs right now, but I should be closer to 15lbs.  I really do love people, even calmer kids(7+), but I’m still learning that the world can be a safe place. New people, places, and sounds can feel like a LOT. However, if you’re patient with me, you’ll start to see the sweet boy underneath all that worry. I don’t always know what’s expected of me yet, but I’m learning! And every little brave thing I do feels like a pretty big accomplishment. I’m looking for a forever family who will be patient with me and help me keep building my confidence through lots of positive experiences. I might never be the dog who confidently runs into every new situation—and that’s okay. I just need someone who will notice the little victories… because to me, they’re HUGE. And once I decide I feel safe with you? Oh, buddy. I LOVE to snuggle. I’ll curl myself up into the tiniest little donut and happily soak up all the comfort I can get from being close to someone I trust. I’ve already come a long way, and I’m pretty sure there’s a whole lot more of me waiting to come out of my shell. I’m doing really well in my crate, I walk nicely on a leash, and I haven’t had any accidents. Look at me go! I’ve done well with other dogs, but I’m still learning how to feel comfortable around them, too. I can be a little unsure when another dog gets too close or into my space, so I need a doggy friend who understands that I sometimes need a little room. I think I’d do best with a calm, respectful dog who will let me take things at my own pace. Maybe, once I feel safe and confident, I’ll even discover that having a doggy friend can be pretty fun.  I may not be the bravest dog in the room yet, but I’m trying. And maybe what I really need is someone who understands that sometimes the smallest victories mean the most. Could that someone be you? Story
Briggs a 6-year 25 pound mostly black with white dapple colored dachshund mix. He could afford to lose a pound or two so we’re working on that slow but sure. He is a literal low rider, very bowed legs, such a distinct walk. He came to be a part of the CAWS family from a rural Utah shelter. He is not skittish or scared; he will sometimes bark while exploring in the backyard. He sleeps with his 2-legged people and cuddles on the couch with all the other 4-legged furkids. He gives ever so soft kisses. He gets a little territorial on the couch wanting to be the only attention of his 2-legged people, but he doesn’t bite. He does require proper introductions. Briggs is such a magnificent and delightful guy, unique as can be. He is totally house and crate trained but he is let outside to do his business on a regular basis. He gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home, male and female, big and small. We prefer he go to a home with a yard because he loves to linger outside and 2-legged people who work from home or can take him to work with them or retired so he is not alone. He does okay in a crate, but we do not want him to live in a crate. If you can give this superb guy a safe and secure home with unconditional love, please fill out an application for a meet and greet. He oozes pure sweetness and joy. Briggs should have never ended up in a shelter, but he crossed our path and so now will find his furever lasting home that he is so worthy of. He literally takes your breath away.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
We are needing to re-home our sweet Tempe. She has had a hard time adjusting to life with a toddler and we just haven’t been able to give her the love and attention she deserves. Tempe is 13 years old and is needing a home without any younger kids and possibly other pets (it might take a little for her to warm up to other pets). All she wants to do is curl up in a blanket and snuggle with you. Please reach out with any questions.
