Meet Sombra! ❤️ A Lovely Little Dachshund Terrier Mix Ready for Her Next Chapter! Breed: Dachshund Terrier Mix Gender: Female DOB: 10/30/2019 Age: 7 Years Weight: 16 lbs Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Medical: Spay and Vaccination Status Not Confirmed Personality: Individual Temperament Still Being Evaluated ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Meet Sombra, a beautiful 7-year-old Dachshund Terrier mix weighing just 16 pounds! This lovely little lady is searching for a forever family who will give her the comfort, companionship, and stability she deserves. At seven years old, Sombra has moved beyond the demanding puppy stages, making her a wonderful candidate for someone interested in adopting an adult dog. Her individual personality is still being evaluated, but she has the opportunity to build a loving bond with a family who will give her time to settle in. About the Dachshund Terrier Mix Dachshunds and Terriers are known for their intelligence, determination, loyalty, and curious personalities. Originally bred as working dogs, both breeds can have strong instincts to explore, investigate interesting scents, and engage with their surroundings. As a Dachshund Terrier mix, Sombra may display some of these characteristics: Loyal and Affectionate: Many develop strong attachments to their families. Intelligent and Curious: They often enjoy exploring, scent games, and interactive activities. Independent: Their determined personalities benefit from patient, consistent guidance. Playful: Even mature adults may enjoy toys, games, and daily adventures. Alert: They can be observant and attentive to their surroundings. Because Sombra is a mixed breed, her individual temperament and energy level may vary from these general characteristics. At 16 pounds, Sombra is a manageable size for many households. Her ideal home will provide appropriate exercise, companionship, and a comfortable environment where she can feel secure. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Although Sombra is seven years old, adopters should not assume she is fully house-trained or familiar with household routines. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best. Her future family should be prepared to reinforce house training, leash manners, basic commands, and appropriate household behavior using positive reinforcement. Dachshund Terrier mixes often benefit from daily walks, scent-based activities, and mental enrichment. Exercise should be adjusted to Sombra's individual energy level and physical condition. Sombra is considered suitable for homes with dogs and children, with proper introductions and supervision. Her compatibility with cats is unknown. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule Every rescue dog needs time to adjust: 3 Days: Decompress and begin feeling safe. 3 Weeks: Learn household routines and build confidence. 3 Months: Develop trust and become more comfortable in the family. These are guidelines, not deadlines. Patience, consistency, and a predictable routine will help Sombra settle into her new home. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Sombra's current spay and vaccination status have not been confirmed. Her adopter should review her medical records and arrange any necessary follow-up care. Dachshund Terrier Health Considerations Because of her breed mix and age, Sombra's future family should be aware of several potential health considerations: Back and Spinal Health: Dachshunds are predisposed to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). If Sombra has inherited a longer back, limiting repetitive jumping and maintaining a healthy weight may help protect her spine. Joint Health: Smaller dogs may develop kneecap instability or age-related joint discomfort. Dental Care: Regular tooth brushing and veterinary dental examinations are important. Weight Management: Maintaining a healthy body condition supports mobility and overall health. Age-Appropriate Care: As Sombra gets older, regular wellness examinations can help identify changes in mobility, vision, and general health. These are potential breed-related concerns, not diagnosed conditions in Sombra. Her future family should provide nutritious food, routine veterinary care, parasite prevention, grooming, appropriate exercise, and a safe, comfortable home. Adopting Sombra means committing to her well-being throughout her adult and senior years, including any changing medical or physical needs. Adoption Information Interested in giving Sombra a forever home? Apply to Adopt: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs and helping them find loving, permanent homes. We coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Our adoption process helps match each dog with a family prepared to provide the care, patience, and lifelong commitment they deserve. Sombra is a lovely little lady with so much life still ahead of her! At seven years old, she deserves the chance to enjoy a home filled with security, companionship, and love. Adult rescue dogs are often overlooked, but they have just as much to offer as younger dogs. Sombra is ready for someone to give her a beautiful new chapter. Could that someone be you? ❤️ This is the standard I'll follow: detailed enough to educate adopters, short enough to hold their attention, and focused on the individual dog. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Bringing home a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes proper veterinary care, training, exercise, and companionship. As part of responsible pet ownership, Midnight Oreo will need: Routine veterinary wellness examinations Completion of any remaining vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian Neutering when age-appropriate Monthly flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention A balanced, high-quality diet to support healthy growth Daily exercise and mental enrichment Continued obedience training and socialization A safe, loving indoor home where he is treated as a cherished member of the family As a distemper survivor, we recommend discussing his medical history with your veterinarian during his first wellness visit. Curled up next to my favorite human! I’m expected to grow to around 20–30 pounds, but I’ll always be a lap dog at heart! I’m still figuring out this potty training business, but I’m making progress every day. A little patience and encouragement go a long way! I’m looking for my forever best friend who loves snuggles, adventures, and doesn’t mind letting me think I’m the boss! Little legs, big boss energy, and unlimited cuddles! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi. It’s me. Symon. I’m a 10-month-old, 10-pound Chihuahua, and apparently I am currently accepting applications for my third adoptive home. ‍♀️ Before you judge me, I’d like to point out that I am VERY good at relationships. I just prefer them one person at a time. Here’s the deal: I pick a person. Usually it’s a woman, although I reserve the right to surprise everyone. Once I choose you, congratulations! You are now MY PERSON. I will love you, adore you, follow you around, and basically make you the center of my tiny Chihuahua universe. Everyone else? ✨ Absolutely not. ✨ Did they walk into the room? Suspicious. Did they shift positions on the couch? Rude. Did they have the audacity to make a noise somewhere in MY house? INTRUDER ALERT. INTRUDER ALERT. Yes, I will bark. Yes, I may growl. Yes, I am only 10 pounds. No, that information does not affect my confidence whatsoever. So after two adoption attempts, my foster mom and I have stopped pretending I’m looking for the average family. I’m not. I’m looking for my weirdly specific perfect person. My dream setup? A single-person household—a woman would probably be my best match At least one other dog, because I actually do really well living with canine roommates A dog door would be AMAZING Why the dog door? At my foster home, where I have other dogs and access to a dog door, I’ve done great with potty training. In both adoptive homes, however, I had some pee accidents. My foster mom suspects having other dogs to follow and the freedom to take myself outside makes a big difference for me. Basically, I need someone who isn’t looking at this bio thinking, “Oh, he’ll get used to my husband, three kids, Grandma, and the neighborhood book club.” Ma’am. I will not. I’m not a social butterfly. I’m more of a social barnacle. I would like to attach myself to ONE chosen human and spend the rest of my life being ridiculously devoted to her while maintaining serious concerns about everyone else’s activities. I’ve been returned twice because the homes weren’t the right fit. So this time, we’re not looking for a home. We’re looking for MY home. If you’re a woman living alone, already have a dog or two, have a dog door, and have ever thought, “You know what my life is missing? A tiny, emotionally codependent security system,”… HELLO. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU. ❤️ Love, Symon P.S. If you live alone and hear a strange noise at 2 a.m., don’t worry. I heard it first. I have already filed a complaint. https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 29, 2026, 3:38 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I’m South Dakota!  I’m barely over 2 pounds of pure sweetness, and if I could, I’d happily ride around in your pocket all day!  My favorite place in the whole wide world? Your lap, of course! I’m a loving little dachshund mix who adores being held, snuggling close, and soaking up all the affection I can get. But don’t let my cuddly side fool you! I love playing with toys, chasing my tail, and having a little fun too! I’m still working on my potty training, but I’m making progress every day! I may grow to around 10–15 pounds when fully grown, although that’s just an estimate!
