Story
Doris is a very sweet 13-year old Dachshund who is looking for a home with sunshine to fall asleep in every afternoon. She is very food-oriented and loves treats of all types. If you aren't fixing her meals fast enough, she will tell you to hurry up. Her favorite thing to do is nap in the sunshine, followed closely by napping in the shade, and then bedtime. Meals are also a highlight. She does enjoy going along with the other dogs in the house but recharging her energy in between activities is very important. Doris would enjoy short walks as long as it wasn't too cold, or raining, or snowing. Like all seniors, Doris has a couple of health issues. She has a heart murmur that requires medication twice per day. She can still do stairs if there is enough light to see them but as she gets older, stairs will become. Like most older, small dogs, she is dealing with a collapsing trachea. She can see well enough to get around but prefers proper lighting when navigating new spaces. Most of her teeth are missing now so very small kibble, softened or wet food work best. Her house training needs work. She knows she needs to go outside but doesn't really have a signal other than standing by the back door. She does appear to have been trained to potty pads as long as they are in the right place. She just wants to be in the same room as her people. She prefers to spend her time on a cushy dog bed with a plush blanket and it doesn't matter if you are going to sleep or watching TV or working from home. Are you the family who will love Doris in her golden years? Doris has been spayed, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm, had a recent dental cleaning with extractions, and is microchipped. Story
Meet Boeing! He is currently 2.6 pounds, only 8 weeks old, and we think he may be a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, but with rescue it’s always a guess! This puppy is from a part of the US where puppies are regularly euthanized. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from this rescue, it saves their life AND it also allows us to save the life of another in its place. Watch Boeing's video here: Boeing is confident and charismatic – he is slightly shorter than his brother Tacoma, but stature has nothing to do with this boy’s big personality! He is always the first to investigate and explore his surroundings without fear. Boeing loves to play and has the best puppy prance and bounce that is sure to make you chuckle. Be sure to cut your lawn so this little bunny rabbit can romp and frolic in your (fenced) yard – it’s can be a tall jungle for this pint-sized perky boy! Boeing is definitely food-motivated and loves treats and toys of all kinds. He gets fed separately from his brother Tacoma, who often tries to eat Boeing’s food as well – we love that puppy appetite! While Boeing clearly has some growing to do, we don’t think this tiny boy will get much larger. He’s small enough to stash in a baby sling while you work or do chores around the house. (We’ve done it and he loves the closeness!) This affectionate puppy loves people and loves to be carried and held close. His favourite thing to do (after eating) is to give tiny kisses and gentle puppy nibbles while playing and engaging with you. He has met several teenagers and they all fall in love with him, one by one, even the toughest teenage boy. Do you think you have the strength to resist a 2.5 lb chihuahua? We can assure you that you do not – one look at Boeing’s sweet puppy prance and bounce will have you fawning over this charismatic cutie. Boeing is still young so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. His new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect to go on walks and hikes or show off around your neighborhood. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Application link: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/66ccc6ccc4f46a3d710c25a5 Please email tim@threelittlepittiesrescue.org with any questions. Available for adoption in NV, MT, CO,UT, ID, OR, WA, Canada, and now the East Coast! Our PNW dogs are brought to you in style by a beautiful USDA licensed semi-truck, equipped with air conditioning for comfort, two drivers, and 2 onboard attendants providing 24 hour care. Our East Coast route will travel in a private, air conditioned 3LP-run van transport. Pick up day is unforgettable! You will get to follow along on their journey through a private FB Event page, where you will see photos, have the opportunity to connect with other adopters, and receive updates and constant communication along the way. One of our Adoption Coordinators can help to find the closest transport pick up location to you! The adoption fee is $1,000.00 and includes all vetting as recommended by our doctor: DAPP (2 to 4 depending on age and time in the program), Bordetella, Rabies vaccine (if old enough), multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, 2 months of heartworm preventative, extended medical such as dentals, eye surgeries, and orthopedic surgeries prior to adoption when suggested by our partner vets, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar for dogs over 4 months old, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and many priceless years of love and loyal companionship! *WE ARE TOLD THAT WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND MEDICALLY. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW or the NE at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 6 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Follow our rescue journey through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $74 surcharge for transport. DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics, and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake.
