Meet Libby! Libby is a 4.5-month-old Dalmatian puppy with a whole lot of energy, personality, and potential packed into her adorable spotted body. Surrendered from a commercial breeder because she is deaf, Libby has already overcome so much and is now searching for a home that understands and appreciates just how special she is. This girl is incredibly smart, active, and always ready for adventure. She learns quickly and loves having a job to do, but like any young puppy, she still needs continued training, structure, and guidance. Her foster family has been working on communication and engagement skills, and Libby is proving to be a bright, eager learner. Libby loves other dogs and currently lives successfully with both large and small dogs in her foster home. Because she cannot hear social cues, introductions should be done thoughtfully and preferably off leash in a neutral setting. Once comfortable, she enjoys having canine companions to play with and learn from. She also gets along well with cats and even pigs. She adores children and is affectionate with everyone she meets, but she still has a puppy's enthusiasm and can be jumpy when seeking attention. For that reason, a home with children ages 10 and older would be preferred. Because Libby is deaf and will require ongoing training using visual cues and positive reinforcement, we are looking for a family with previous deaf dog experience. Dalmatian experience would be an added bonus. She is not a good fit for apartment living due to her energy level and tendency to vocalize when frustrated. Libby is a fun, loving, high-energy puppy who will thrive with an active, committed family willing to invest the time needed to help her reach her full potential. Between my striking eyes, my one-of-a-kind eye patch, and my adorably floppy ears, I tend to turn a few heads wherever I go. What can I say? I was born to be a star. I'm about 10 months old, weigh around 45 pounds, and my people think I'm a Catahoula/Lab mix. That means I'm smart, athletic, and always up for a good time—but don't worry, I'm not one of those dogs who needs to run a marathon before breakfast. I'd call myself medium energy. I'm just as happy going for a nice walk as I am hanging out with my favorite people afterward. One of my favorite things? Making friends! I love other dogs and have a sweet, easygoing personality that makes me a great companion. Whether we're exploring the neighborhood, playing in the yard, or relaxing at home, I'm simply happy to be part of the fun. I'm still young, so I'm excited to keep learning and discovering the world with my forever family. Meet Buck! Big boy Buck is one of our newer arrivals to HAP from one of our partners shelters in the South! He is the happiest, goofiest, wiggliest, silly boy there is! Anytime Buck sees a human, his big ole tail is wagging back and forth and that's quickly followed by full body wiggles. Once he gets close enough, he's putting all that weight on you so he can soak up all the loving he can. When he's not getting pets, Buck has been trying to figure out this thing called fetch. So far he's not the biggest fan as he'll go chase after something but hasn't figured out the bringing it back part yet. He's been recovering from his neuter so he hasn't had any play dates with other dogs yet but he's seemed interested in other dogs so we could schedule a dog meet if you have current dogs in the home to see if he'd make a good playmate! Buck is a long and lean boy and sometimes doesn't realize his size when he pushes in for attention so kids in the home would just have to be comfortable with a big dog with barnacle tendencies (he is the cutest barnacle we've ever seen though). He does however walk really well on the leash and knows how to sit so big boy does have some manners. So if you're looking for a dog that's always going to make you laugh, Buck is the guy for you! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
