Story
Covered in Spots, Full of Heart — That’s Glimmer! Can you spot this loving pup? Glimmer’s name fits her perfectly — she’s a gentle light who shines a little brighter every day. After facing some tough times, she’s ready to leave the past behind and glow in the warmth of a real home. Glimmer originally came to APA as a maternity case, but her story took an unexpected turn when she needed emergency surgery to save her life. True to her name, she never lost her spark. With great medical care and a lot of heart, Glimmer bounced back quickly — now she’s healthy, happy, and eager for her next chapter. She’s truly one of the sweetest dogs around. Glimmer greets almost everyone with soft eyes and a slow, polite nuzzle, as if to say, “I’m so glad you’re here.” Though she’s still a little cautious in the busy shelter environment (understandable after all she’s been through), her gentle spirit shines through. You can tell she’s ready to bloom in a calm home where she feels safe and loved. Glimmer is a joy on walks — no pulling, just easy strolls and a curious nose leading the way. She enjoys being outside, soaking up the sunshine, and staying close to her person. She’s the kind of companion who makes you slow down and appreciate the little things — a wagging tail, a trusting glance, the soft glow of her spotted coat in the light. All Glimmer needs now is a quiet home, a bit of medication as she finishes healing, and someone to see the beautiful dog she already is. Could that someone be you? Give this shining girl a Glimmer of hope — and she’ll fill your life with warmth, gratitude, and love that never fades.

Story
Cooper is a 4-year-old Kelpie mix with a gentle, thoughtful spirit who just needed time to feel safe. When he first arrived in his foster home, it was clear he hadn’t had much (if any) socialization with people or everyday life inside a home. Regular household sounds, movement, even the TV were overwhelming. His crate became his safe place, and he would choose to go there often just to feel secure. With patience and consistency, Cooper has slowly blossomed. Now he spends most of his day resting calmly on the couch or laying in the kitchen while meals are being made. He used to be nervous in the car, but now he gets excited to go for rides. He didn’t understand treats at first, but now he joyfully pops up on his hind legs to ask for one. Cooper does very well with dogs of all sizes and is respectful of cats. He is crate trained and doing well with potty training—he hasn’t had an accident in the house in about a week. Though he is around 4 years old, he still has a bit of youthful playfulness in him. He loves belly rubs, gentle massages, chewing on toys, and watching the world go by from the cat perch. On walks, he is calm, rarely pulls, and often looks back to “check in” with his person—he truly wants to do things right. Because unpredictable movement can still make him nervous, Cooper would do best in a calm home without young children. He needs someone who can offer patience, steadiness, and understanding. Cooper has already come so far. With a loving, reassuring person by his side, he will continue to open up and become the loyal, tender, devoted companion he is meant to be. To apply directly for Cooper click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-762 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Introducing Stella! A sweet, senior girly looking for her forever home. Stella is an expert in commands. She knows: Sit, Down, Come, Place, Free/Break, Shake and Spin! This girl is full of tricks and highly food motivated. Stella is the type of girl to want her people alllll to herself, so a home without other dogs or children is needed for her to thrive. She enjoys fetch, quiet time, toys, playing in water, ice cubes, cuddles, butt scratches and most of all...long walks! Her leash manners are on point and she loves to lead the way. Once she's got her daily walking fix, Stella will lounge around with whoever she feels is the coziest and best cuddler. Can you be the one to live out a life full of love and adventure with Stella?

Just look at those bright button eyes! Moonlight has a cheerful and alert demeanor. Although technically a senior he appears younger than his years. He loves his toys! He is also good on leash and appears to be house-trained. We think Moonlight may have some Kelpie in him, a breed known for being friendly, loyal, and eager to connect with their people. He’s already showing those wonderful traits, greeting each day with a wagging tail and a sweet, steady charm. If Moonlight has caught your eye, we’d love for you to meet him. To set up a no-obligation “meet and greet,” please visit wimberleywagrescue.org to fill out an application. He may be just the companion you’ve been looking for.

Story
Meet Otis! This sweet, high-energy 40-pound pup is ready to find his furever family! At just 1 1/2-2 years old, Otis is full of life, love, and adventure. He’s a social butterfly who never meets a stranger-whether human or canine-and he’s always looking for hugs, playmates, and new experiences. A recent DNA test shows this handsome boy is a dalmatian mix! Otis is eager to please and is doing great with basic obedience training. He’s house-trained, crate trained, learning house manners, and loves loading up for a car ride-ready for his next big adventure! His perfect home would have another playful dog (his size or larger) and a big yard where he can romp and run. Because of his boisterous energy, we recommend a home with school-aged children or older. Otis is super affectionate, athletic, and thriving with consistent structure. Continued training will help him build even more confidence as he matures into the best companion. Otis is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccines, and current on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. We believe he is a pointer mix. Ready to meet your new best friend? Handsome Otis can’t wait to meet you! Just copy this link into your browser and submit your adoption form today: https://form.jotform.com/201527297286058

Story
Sweet ClaireBear is truly the BEST! She's smart, brave, and wonderfully independent; often happy to play on her own but always ready for a good cuddle. She's affectionate with her humans, amazing with kids, great with other dogs, and brings joy everywhere she goes. Claire is a scrappy little explorer who loves to be on the move and seek out adventure, but she also enjoys her cozy naps. She gives the sweetest hugs with her little arms and it melts your heart every time. She's very treat-motivated, loves training, and picks up new commands quickly. She doesn't try to run away and on the few occasions she slipped out of our backyard, she ran straight to the front door. She simply loves being close to her family.♥️ We are absolutely heartbroken to have to rehome her. With our work travel during the week and out of state sports schedules on the weekends, we just can not give her the time, love, and attention she truly deserves.

Story
Looking for a calm, low-maintenance companion who’ll keep you motivated to get your daily steps in—without the chaos of a high-energy puppy? Meet Billie. She’s the ultimate walking partner: no pulling, no barking, no lunging—just perfect leash manners and a peaceful stroll by your side. She’s happy to join you for a walk through the park or around the neighborhood, then quietly entertain herself while you hop on a Zoom call. She’s also house-trained, crate-trained, and won’t jump on your guests nor chew your furniture. Basically, Billie’s already got the hard stuff figured out. And if you already have a furry friend at home who’d love a sister? Even better—Billie would thrive with a fellow pet companion. Billie is a gentle, quiet soul who’s looking for a calm, low-traffic home to match her peaceful energy. She’s shy and takes time to warm up to new people, so she needs a patient adopter who can earn her trust at her pace. Her early life lacked proper socialization, but with time and space, she’s shown she can truly blossom. Her previous adopter gave her that gift, and with the help of her two beloved dog siblings, Billie began to relax and enjoy life. Sadly, after her adopter’s unexpected passing, Billie and her two siblings—Dewey and Scrappy—are once again looking for a loving home. Ideally, Billie would be adopted along with one of her siblings or into a home that already has another calm dog—or possibly even a cat. While we can’t say for sure how she’d do living with a cat, she’s shown nothing but calm respect when passing them on walks, so we think she has potential to coexist peacefully with a feline friend. Though Billie can be timid and a bit aloof at first (think “dog with cat-like vibes”), she absolutely lights up when it’s time for a walk. That’s the key to her heart. She walks in perfect sync with you—no tugging, no dawdling, just quietly enjoying the moment, matching your pace. She doesn’t react to cats, squirrels, or even barking dogs on the street. In fact, you might find yourself glancing down to make sure she’s still there—she’s that in step with you. Billie isn’t yet a senior so she has the stamina for longer adventures, but she’s also happy with frequent short walks. If you’re looking to build a steady walking routine, she’ll be your biggest (and quietest) cheerleader. All she asks is for regular strolls and a peaceful home where she can feel safe and loved. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key best friend to walk through life with—literally—Billie might just be your perfect match.
