Story
Sonia is a really nice dog. She loves every person she meets but does not really like other dogs. When we found her abandoned on the side of the road she was covered in wounds of a dog attack on her and was in starved condition. She was never claimed by anyone and she has made a full recovery. She does not like other dogs near her food for obvious reasons. Sonia is super intelligent and would make a great companion for an adult home.

Story
Name: Benji Breed: Doberman/Heeler mix Gender: male Age: 5 ish Good with dogs (big+small?): yes, big and small Good with cats: unknown Good with kids? (If so, what ages): older kids best Good with men: hesitant with some but will warm up Crate trained/in process of: no Doggy door trained: no Leash trained: yes but can be reactive/anxious around other dogs (not off leash) Knows any tricks: knows basic commands plus some advanced Likes: Loves toys, balls, and being outside. He enjoys couch cuddles and squirrel chasing equally. Dislikes: Does not like chaos. Not a fan of kids rough housing or anything that appears aggressive (e.g. loud talking, quick movements) Must haves: He keeps a toy close - especially a ball, very food motivated Apartment dog: can be with an active family Fun facts: Benji is very smart. He is fast and a fast learner. Although not the least bit graceful, he enjoys the occasional dip in a pool. He also really enjoys doggy daycare. Ideal home: He needs an active home with access to a yard if not walked/exercised daily. A home with older or no kids would be best. With training, I think he could be a great hiking or bike riding partner. https://linktr.ee/loveconnectiondogrescueaz?utm_source=qr_code

Story
Millie is a 3.5-year-old, 29-pound Doberman blend who recently joined us and is now hoping to find her forever home!Millie can be a tiny bit shy when meeting new people, but give her a little time and you’ll quickly discover what a sweetheart she truly is. She enjoys human companionship and is ready to bond closely with a family of her own. While Millie does fine interacting with other dogs, she prefers not to share her favorite humans or her toys. Because of this, we believe she’ll be happiest as the only spoiled canine companion in the home — and honestly, she’s more than ready to soak up all the love and attention for herself!Millie is house-trained and sleeps comfortably in her crate at night. She’s an energetic, strong, and active girl who loves to stay on the move and would make an excellent hiking, running, or jogging companion. With her enthusiasm and athletic spirit, she’s always ready for the next adventure by your side.Millie can also be quite the cuddler, so if you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a gentle heart and lots of affection to give, Millie may be the perfect match for you.To get started in the process of meeting Millie, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Iceberg is a seven-year-old Doberman mix with a heart as big as her personality. This sweet girl recently came into the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds, and while she has some significant health and weight challenges ahead of her, she’s already proving to be an incredibly loving and easygoing companion. At approximately 145 pounds, Iceberg is currently extremely obese and likely needs to be closer to 60 pounds for a healthier, more comfortable life. The Big Hearts for Big Breeds team is working closely with veterinary partners to ensure all of her medical needs are addressed and to rule out any underlying conditions contributing to her weight gain. Despite everything, Iceberg remains wonderfully friendly and full of joy. She appears to be kennel trained, potty trained, and does well with just about everyone — kids, dogs, cats, and especially food. She’s currently settling into foster care where she’s beginning a healthier routine filled with steady nutrition, regular walks, and lots of encouragement (and playtime!) from her foster friends. Iceberg’s journey won’t happen overnight, but she finally has the support she needs to feel better and enjoy life the way every dog deserves. With patience, medical care, and continued love, we’re excited to watch this special girl transform and thrive.
