Story
When Vito arrived, he instantly greeted his new foster mom and dad. Vito is such a sweet guy. He loves kisses and has no behavioral issues. He is house broken and does not mind being handled. He gets along well with other dogs. Not sure about cats but on walks he is curious when he sees small critters. He is afraid of the garden hose. He does not play with toys or balls. He just chills out most of the day. He loves walks and car rides. Every once in a while he tries to jump on the couch but he knows that is not allowed. He is very food motivated! Vito has been a great companion and we love caring for him, he is just a big teddy bear. Vito has been diagnosed with Diabetes and Cushing's Disease. These are life-long conditions that will require on-going vet visits and medication, including insulin shots twice daily. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cushings-disease-in-dogs Animal Rescue Recon makes sure that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. Story
Billie is a 2 year old and 80 pound dog who is looking for her forever home. Billie spent some time in a foster home so we can get to know her a little better. Billie like many Dobermans is a velcro dog and would love to stay right next to you. Her foster mom has said that she does well when she is left home alone and will sleep on her bed and is house trained and will hold her bladder until she goes outside. Billie enjoys stealing socks, riding in the car, chasing tennis balls, and being able to have space to run! Billie is eager to learn and very treat motivated (which always helps).Billie has spent some time in foster with both dogs and cats. She prefers dogs that are her size and may do well with slow introductions. She would do best in a home with teens and adults. If you are interested in this specific animal, please come to the shelter for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5:30pm. We recommend coming in as early as possible, as adoptions are first-come, first-serve.

Story
Aurora was on 8/25/2021 and she is half doberman/husky. She loves to run, go for walks, and look for lizards hiding in the grass (lol). She knows commands like: sit, down, up, off, paw, reach, touch, paw, and turn. She’s an outdoor dog and sleeps in a cage in my garage but doesn’t like being in a cage during the day for long periods of time. She loves napping under the sun, snacking on peanut butter, yogurt, and cheese! Aurora enjoys playing in the water in the summer (in their little pool or the lake) and loves squeky and treat toys! Aurora is not spayed but up to date with shots and rabies shot. She is still learning and would need someone that can train her and help her correct her resource guarding behavior. She doesn’t bark a lot and ok around kids. Please message if you would like to know more about Aurora❤️ I want to make sure she goes to a good home so I do have some questions to those interested in adopting her.

Story
Handsome Johnnie needs a loving home. He is a 9 ½ -month-old, 55-pound, tan, smooth coated, mix: his vet sees a smidge of Great Dane / Rhodesian Ridgeback; Though his brothers DNA shows that they are mostly American Staffordshire terrier, Chihuahua and German Shepherd, interesting mix. Johnnie has pretty eyes and gorgeous ears. His mom Jessie looks like a small Shepherd/Corgi mix. He is 100% adorable. When he was a baby puppy, Johnnie was found with his mother and siblings living under a freeway underpass. He was adopted but his current family is in poor health and is not able to meet his needs. He needs an active family that will play with him daily. He would love to join you all on life’s adventures? He enjoys cuddles and kisses He loves toys so please have lots of KONG Type / heavy duty toys. He is still a puppy! He would love for you to teach him some tricks. He is leashed trained and enjoys his walks. He is potty trained and used to being kept on a schedule. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Johnnie would love to be your new best friend. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. For Adopt a Pet (scroll way down past “Ask about me”) you will see the biography and underneath that will be the adoption questionnaire link.
