Story
Billie is a 2 year old and 80 pound dog who is looking for her forever home. Billie spent some time in a foster home so we can get to know her a little better. Billie like many Dobermans is a velcro dog and would love to stay right next to you. Her foster mom has said that she does well when she is left home alone and will sleep on her bed and is house trained and will hold her bladder until she goes outside. Billie enjoys stealing socks, riding in the car, chasing tennis balls, and being able to have space to run! Billie is eager to learn and very treat motivated (which always helps).Billie has spent some time in foster with both dogs and cats. She prefers dogs that are her size and may do well with slow introductions. She would do best in a home with teens and adults. If you are interested in this specific animal, please come to the shelter for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5:30pm. We recommend coming in as early as possible, as adoptions are first-come, first-serve.

Story
Maxx is a purebred European Doberman. He is energetic but very well disciplined for a puppy. He needs the time and room to exercise daily by running, a simple 20 minute walk will not meet his exercise needs. Capable of advanced and protection training if desired. He is great with kids as there is a toddler currently in the home that he allows to climb all over him without issue! He simply needs a new home that has the time and room to commit to his physical demands.

Story
When Vito arrived, he instantly greeted his new foster mom and dad. Vito is such a sweet guy. He loves kisses and has no behavioral issues. He is house broken and does not mind being handled. He gets along well with other dogs. Not sure about cats but on walks he is curious when he sees small critters. He is afraid of the garden hose. He does not play with toys or balls. He just chills out most of the day. He loves walks and car rides. Every once in a while he tries to jump on the couch but he knows that is not allowed. He is very food motivated! Vito has been a great companion and we love caring for him, he is just a big teddy bear. Vito has been diagnosed with Diabetes and Cushing's Disease. These are life-long conditions that will require on-going vet visits and medication, including insulin shots twice daily. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cushings-disease-in-dogs Animal Rescue Recon makes sure that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. Story
To get more information about Florence and Hearts for Paws, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/2/18/florence Florence is a gentle soul, who loves to cuddle and play with her humans and dog friends. She’s in a foster home with children, 2 dogs, a rabbit and has also been tested with cats. She’s very gentle with children, and loves to snuggle up and have pets but would do best in a home with respectful children 10 years or older because of her larger breed size and gentle demeanor. Florence is still a pup and would do best in a home with a confident, friendly dog who would like a playful companion. Tug of war is her favorite, as well as playing with squeaker toys and sticks. She’s crate trained and will go in her crate when she’s tired, or feeling nervous. She also uses a bell when she wants to go outside. Florence would thrive in a home that has a flexible work schedule and time to continue her training. She’s treat motivated, leashed trained and learning all about new objects, sounds and smells. She loves to explore her surroundings and is curious and alert when outside. Her foster mom is running with her and she will probably be a very good hiking companion when she gets older. Florence is looking for a wonderful owner who will continue to help build her confidence! Florence is currently being fostered in Sacramento, CA Estimated DOB: 10/22/2023 $375 adoption donation - vetted, up to date on age appropriate shots, dewormed, fecal tested/treated, flea tick treated & available w spay agreement addendum by/before 6 months. They are all microchipped with lifetime registry. Ideal home will: Have the time to commit to all things puppy! Please note puppies do not do well left alone long hours and need to be let out every 2-3 hours for potty. Long work schedule where the puppy would be left alone for 7+ hours can be difficult on most puppies and young dogs. Solid plans for puppy socialization, positive exposure and continued training + relationship building -- commitment not just to puppyhood but to a lifetime of love, care, companionship and vetting. HFP advocates for Positive Reinforcement only for young puppies and training that focuses less on "obedience" and more on confidence building, relationship building and consent training. Preference to homes w/ friendly & well-trained dog role models (preference, NOT required) Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
