Story
FOSTER UPDATE Wallaby`s recovery is going well and her range of motion is good as it should be. She is allowed to fully play, run, etc. The Vet recommended longer walks/hikes, and hills so she can build up her strength. Wallaby has been working on basic commands like sit, and has made some progress. She is good with `heel` command where we stop at street corners until released by command. She is great with all human interaction, but still working on dog socialization. She has befriended one dog so far, but still growls and lunges at other dogs. There doesn`t seem to be a pattern of other dog size or breed that she is ok with. Perhaps if she can play off leash she might be able to socialize better. Wallaby is great riding in the car and automatically lays down so she is stable and comfortable. Her separation anxiety has been present from the beginning and I have tried to desensitize it starting with brief periods of time behind a door or the window. She has made some progress and doesn`t immediately start destructively chewing things. I got her a Kong and stuff it with peanut butter to occupy her for a little while, however it only lasts so long... I think she can get better over time and with practice. Wallaby is not a fan of being in a crate at all, so she just sleeps on her bed on the floor of my bedroom. PLEASE EMAIL foster@saccounty.gov if you are interested in meeting her.

Story
Zorro is a handsome, 50-pound, young Doberman (estimated DOB 12/22). He would love a home with an active family (older or no kids) who isn't gone for long periods. Ideal family would have breed experience, is committed to continue his training, with a yard and a friendly dog buddy to play with. Zorro came to the rescue emaciated, malnourished, with parvo and a damaged eye which had to be removed. He has made an amazing recovery and has turned into a sweet, goofy, energetic boy who is learning how to be part of a family and a pack. He can be a bit of an insecure guy with new people and new dogs so it does take him time to warm up. He likes to play and can be a bit pushy with dogs that are smaller or who have a more submissive play style. He’s curious about the cats in his foster home, but will chase if they run. He is working on not jumping up on people so small children might not be ideal. He is still working on basic training. He is potty trained with consistent reminders throughout the day. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

Story
When Vito arrived, he instantly greeted his new foster mom and dad. Vito is such a sweet guy. He loves kisses and has no behavioral issues. He is house broken and does not mind being handled. He gets along well with other dogs. Not sure about cats but on walks he is curious when he sees small critters. He is afraid of the garden hose. He does not play with toys or balls. He just chills out most of the day. He loves walks and car rides. Every once in a while he tries to jump on the couch but he knows that is not allowed. He is very food motivated! Vito has been a great companion and we love caring for him, he is just a big teddy bear. Vito has been diagnosed with Diabetes and Cushing's Disease. These are life-long conditions that will require on-going vet visits and medication, including insulin shots twice daily. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cushings-disease-in-dogs Animal Rescue Recon makes sure that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. Story
I took Mocha on by way of a friends request for help due to Covid related job loss. My life has now taken a turn that requires me to put my health first and I am in an unstable situation that has caused Mocha unneeded stresses. I have paper work for diagnosis and labs to show all current needs being treated. Further tests are recommended but am not able to afford. She is very loving and a good eater. She loves to go for rides in the car.
