Story
'Courtesy Post' This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  'MEET RIVER' He was born at Clayton County Humane Society to mom Kelly who is also still up for adoption. River has been completely vetted which includes microchipping, neutering, ALL current and up to date vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heartworm tested, heartworm and flea prevention and completed deworming. River was a live birth to mom Kelly on 02/06/2022 along with 7 siblings. River and his brother Jasper that is also still available for adoption had the chance at a forever home as puppies but were unfortunately returned after 6 months as a lifestyle change occurred and they could no longer care for River and Jasper. With River and Jasper size they are usually overlooked due to medium to larger size dogs being picked last for adoption. 3 years have went by already with living in shelter life. They do get the opportunity to go on routine scenic dog walks and adventures and have outside free time. River would do well as a only dog as he can be quiet timid and shy but is very friendly to people. He can bark at children as he is just timid and needs some quality time to develop and blossom outside of chaos that can arise from shelter living. He is very active and would make a great companion to someone who loves to spend a lot of time outdoors. If you have a big back yard for him to run he would greatly enjoy that too!! River and Jasper deserve a true chance at a forever home and someone who has patience in understanding that decompression and a trusting bond is viable for them to open up and show all of their personality. They love treat time and always welcome us with a wagging tail and great disposition. I encourage quality one on one time to be spent so that you can see all the potential that they have!! Let's give River and Jasper a FOREVER home ! River is in good health and ready to be adopted into his forever loving home Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $300 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  June 5, 2026, 9:51 am

Story
Bennett is a dog that has come back to our rescue through no fault of his own. We originally pulled him from Newton County Animal Control in 5/2024, a day before he was going to be put down. He stayed at our rescue till 11/2024 when he got adopted. Due to financial difficulties with the adopters he has returned to our rescue and is looking for his forever home again. He is now about 3 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Bennett's a happy, fun loving dog! He has had play dates with our doctor's dog and they got along great. One of our vet techs took him on a run with her and he ran well right along side her. He enjoys going on walks and is calm in his kennel and doesn't get bothered with dogs barking around him. He loves a good stuffed animal to throw around the yard and carry in his mouth. But he can be cuddly too and will rest his head against your shoulder when you go in his kennel with him. If you're interested in meeting Bennett make an appointment to meet him by calling 770-787-4899. Adoption application and interview required for adoption. He is located at Ross Animal Hospital, Covington GA.

Story
Meet sweet old man Tempo! He is a 10 year old gentle Dobie. He is very affectionate, mellow, easy to walk. He likes to play with toys and hang with his humans, and is fascinated by other dogs. He likely has some sort of neuro condition, as he often turns in circles, but he doesn't let it dampen his spirits... he just wants to live out his golden years with a family who is willing to see past his circling and enjoy him as the positive being that he is. If you are ready to open your heart and your home to this social soul, please ask to meet Tempo Tempo has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out his playgroup video below ##2580665##

Story
Senior sweetie Rascal is looking for a family to live out his golden years with. BASICS: – Male – 13 years old – 15 pounds – Fully vetted – Potty trained – Dog friendly – Lively, loving, spurts of spunky, but slowed senior roll PERSONALITY: Rascal is a perfect blend for someone looking for a dog on a more slowed roll, no need to go on 2 mile walks every day or play fetch, no desire to parkour off your couch mid zoomies — but a dog that’s not on their death bed either. Rascal still gets spunky and has a zest for life, likes to follow you around, “talk” and tell you what he thinks (talking is one of his specialties) — but he is a senior guy on that slowed roll. DOGS: Currently in foster with other small dogs. Lived with dogs of all sizes, genders, ages in his previous home prior to rescue. TRAINING: – Potty trained – Working on crate training** **Rascal previously lived with his elderly retired owner and was accustomed to her pretty much always being home. He isn’t used to being left alone long nor being crated, but his dedicated foster has been working hard with him to overcome some crate and separation anxiety. MEDICAL: – Neutered – Vaccinated – Microchipped – Heartworm negative and on monthly prevention – Recent good bloodwork – Recent dental cleaning – On an OTC supplement and Gabapentin as needed for an old, healed injury** **He was hit by a school bus a year or two ago and had pelvic breaks go unaddressed at the time. Rascal’s pelvis did an incredible job at remodeling itself back together. It doesn’t slow him down much, his gait just looks a little wanky and goofy sometimes in light of the different structural form inside. FUN FACT: Rascal was DNA tested which revealed he is… – 15.2% miniature pinscher – 14.2% lab – 13.8% australian cattle dog – 13.4% cocker spaniel – 5% chow chow – 3.3% collie – 3% GSD – 32.1% supermutt (chihuahua, golden retriever, american eskimo dog, maltese, mastiff) IDEAL HOME: – Not a match for apartments – Seeking home with fenced yard – Seeking someone home more often than not (as compared to e.g. someone who works away from home 40+ hours/week) BACKSTORY: Rascal was rescued in June 2025. He belonged to an elderly owner who really loved the dogs, but got in over their head in a county without a functioning animal control shelter. The owner had accumulated dogs over the years unable to see them starve and freeze; reaching over 40 by time we got involved. Following health issues and needing to relocate where they could be cared for, we helped the owner place the ~three dozen who needed to leave in varying rescues. Rascal is one of those that landed with us. AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt (FTA). FTA is a two week, commitment/pressure free trial run to make sure things are a match before sealing the deal and officially adopting. LOCATION: Currently in foster in Dallas, GA ADOPTION FEE: $150 ADOPTION APP: joyspromise.org/adopt As all newly adopted dogs are, Rascal will be a flight risk starting off – Note: If you are interested in adopting, please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. Inquiries on adoption sites is not an application. Your inquiry will not be seen until you complete an actual application at joyspromise.org/adopt
