Story
Adoption fee: $300 DISCLSIMER: Sam is a true working Doberman. He has natural protection instincts that the average family cannot handle. He will only be adopted to a home that intends to seriously train and work him, and will absolutely not be homed with any children under the age of 15. Physical appearance: Sam is an all-natural, black and tan, male Doberman that is about 4 years old. He is average size for a male Doberman with a weight of 71lbs. Personality: Sam is a wonderful dog with a sweet and playful personality with his family.  He is BFFs with his foster sister and they hang out together and play all the time. While his natural ears and tail make him absolutely adorable looking, he is also an intense watch dog and protector. He is very protective of his foster mom which has led to an incident where he nipped a guest.  He is not a dog you can expect to be social. if you have people in and out of your house all the time, he is not the dog for you. He is a true Doberman and is not what you commonly find in a rescue dog.  He is fearless, intense, and alert but he is not aggressive.  He needs an experienced owner that knows how to train and lead him and will not leave him to his own devices. He does well with both men and women once he gets to know them, but initially is extra wary of men. he needs a proper introduction and for his owner to show him that they are okay. He will not be adopted to a home with any male dogs, but females are fine. He will also not be adopted to a home with small children. We will require all kids to be over 15 years old. Why he’s in rescue: Sam has an unusual rescue story. A friend of the rescue was working in Qatar where Dobermans are illegal.  Despite them being illegal, many of the wealthier residents import them anyways. They usually import them from Serbia and get them based on the idea of a Doberman, leaving them as decorations or using them as guard dogs as opposed to pets.  Sam's owner no longer wanted him and he was abandoned at a kennel. Our friend contacted us asking if we would take him if she brought him back with her. If we didn't, he'd likely be euthanized or abandoned in the desert unfortunately common for unwanted dogs). We couldn't say no. Manners and training: Sam is crate trained, potty trained, and does pretty well on a leash.  He is a fast learner and would excel at any sort of training or sport you wanted to do with him, especially obedience or schutzhund/bite work.  If you've wanted a dog you can do sports with, this is the dog for you. He is not suitable as a couch potato, and we will require his adopter to be registered for training classes before he can be adopted. He is currently working with a trainer in Lawrenceville that specializes in working dogs and absolutely adores him. We have had an evaluation done by her that we are happy to share with prospective adopters. if possible, we would love to see him continue his training with her.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.   ##1810600##

Story
Adoption donation: $400 Meet Cleo: Your Tiny Shark with a Big Personality (and Zero Volume Control) Hey there, I’m Cleo! I was born on 9/10/25, which means I am very much still a puppy. I’m a black and tan female Doberman with natural ears, a docked tail, and energy levels best described as “unchecked.” I’m also deaf, which makes me a little special, a little louder than average, and definitely not your typical puppy. A Little About Me: Personality:My foster mom lovingly describes me as a shark, and honestly? Fair. I’m playful, pushy, stubborn, and still figuring out that teeth are not meant for everything. I haven’t learned bite inhibition yet, and while I mean no harm, I absolutely will put teeth on things (and people) during play. I also have very little understanding of body language from other dogs so I need all my play supervised so I can learn when to quit, otherwise I will be way too much for most dogs. Because I’m deaf, I bark… loudly. I can’t hear myself, I can’t hear you coming, and I can’t hear verbal corrections, so yes, I announce my presence like it’s my full-time job. When I’m done playing, though, I know how to shut myself down and head to my crate for a nap like a champ. I’m not a constant Velcro dog. I do enjoy cuddles, but I also really value my alone time and will happily tuck myself away when I’m overstimulated. My Story:I came into rescue after a kind person stepped in when my breeder planned to euthanize me due to my poor health. I’m the only known survivor of my litter, and I do have some special needs. My deafness is the most obvious, but I also have some motor and vision challenges that make me clumsier than the average puppy. The good news? I’ve already shown improvement since being in rescue, and with the right home, I can continue to thrive. Manners and Training:I’m crate trained and currently working on potty training (progress is happening!). I respond best to structure, routine, and physical guidance, not verbal cues. Gently flip me onto my back and I turn into a calm, quiet noodle (I may need some firm reminding if I'm really wound up) — otherwise, I’m full-speed puppy mode. Training will need to be adapted for a deaf dog, and consistency is everything with me. I am smart, but I’m also pushy and stubborn, so I need someone who won’t let me run the household. Special Considerations:The rescue will automatically reject anyone who applies that ignores the following criteria: I must go to a Doberman-experienced or working dog experienced home. No small children. I have no bite inhibition yet and WILL snap during play Male dogs only. No female dogs due to future same-sex aggression risk I’m good with cats and other dogs, but I play hard and don’t read social cues well I am deaf, loud, clumsy, and require patience, structure, and supervision I am a special-needs dog and need adopters who take that seriously Health and Vetting:I’m spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and negative for intestinal parasites. I’m medically stable, just… a little different. Why You’ll Love Me:If you’re an experienced Doberman person who understands structure, boundaries, and unconventional pups, I have the potential to be an incredible dog. I’m resilient, silly, energetic, and learning every day. I just need someone patient, committed, and ready to help me become the best version of myself. I’m not easy — but I’m worth it. Can’t wait to meet you! Love,Cleo ##2619392##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 Physical appearance: Kali is a 6-year-old, black and tan, female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is a big girl at 90 pounds. Kali was born with one eye that is smaller than the other, a condition called uveitis that has caused blindness in that eye, and she will require daily eye medication to keep her comfortable. Personality, Manners, and Training: Kali was previously adopted from GDR but was returned due to changing family circumstances. This girl is an A-class snuggler and LOVES her people. She is a wonderful family dog who does great with kids. Kali has energy and will run and play as much as you let her so she needs a real outlet for her energy. She loves playing with tennis balls and other toys. Sometimes she will bark and whine to protest not getting her way, so she won't be good for an apartment, townhome, or condo. She needs someone who won't give into her every protest or just let her do whatever she wants. She knows how to sit and wait patiently for her dinner until you tell her to eat, and she is crate trained, but she will try to convince you that she isn't. Her leash training could use some work. She gets along with other dogs, but needs a slow and careful introduction. She also gets along with cats and even rabbits.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed, and microchipped before adoption. ##127561##

Story
'Courtesy Post' This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  'MEET RIVER' He was born at Clayton County Humane Society to mom Kelly who is also still up for adoption. River has been completely vetted which includes microchipping, neutering, ALL current and up to date vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heartworm tested, heartworm and flea prevention and completed deworming. River was a live birth to mom Kelly on 02/06/2022 along with 7 siblings. River and his brother Jasper that is also still available for adoption had the chance at a forever home as puppies but were unfortunately returned after 6 months as a lifestyle change occurred and they could no longer care for River and Jasper. With River and Jasper size they are usually overlooked due to medium to larger size dogs being picked last for adoption. 3 years have went by already with living in shelter life. They do get the opportunity to go on routine scenic dog walks and adventures and have outside free time. River would do well as a only dog as he can be quiet timid and shy but is very friendly to people. He can bark at children as he is just timid and needs some quality time to develop and blossom outside of chaos that can arise from shelter living. He is very active and would make a great companion to someone who loves to spend a lot of time outdoors. If you have a big back yard for him to run he would greatly enjoy that too!! River and Jasper deserve a true chance at a forever home and someone who has patience in understanding that decompression and a trusting bond is viable for them to open up and show all of their personality. They love treat time and always welcome us with a wagging tail and great disposition. I encourage quality one on one time to be spent so that you can see all the potential that they have!! Let's give River and Jasper a FOREVER home ! River is in good health and ready to be adopted into his forever loving home Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $300 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family.
