Story
Looking for his forever family!Goose, where do we begin with this amazing, gentle 5 yo lovebug. He has a way of luring you in with those golden eyes and then as they say, the rest is history. Goose is still new in his foster's home, and has been kenneled with their other dogs daily. He has been introduced to 3 dogs and has shown no aggression. He and the other male resident Doberman remain leashed when together to shape appropriate behaviors. Goose loves stuffed squeaking toys and filled dog bones. When not cuddling, he can be found playing independently. He will engage occasionally with a tug of war, and hasn't destroyed a single toy! Goose is great with cats and continues to remain leashed with them in the room as they have been shaping his safe behavior with them. Goose has oily skin related to his color dilute pattern as a Blue Doberman. Foster uses two Mal-a-ket wipes each evening on his neck and back. Due to his hair loss, he loves wearing a sweater and cuddling under blankets. His back has little hair, and he's nearly non-shedding! His face, neck, legs and back end have full hair. Due to the likelihood of a sensitivity to chicken, his diet is a fish/rice kibble. Fosters have added 2 10 mg tabs of Melatonin, and fish oil along with a tsp of yeast twice daily. He also enjoys plain yogurt (1 T am) and a T of pumpkin each day. He prefers to eat in his kennel with the door closed, and sometimes flips his bowl, so a slow feeder helps with this. He is picky about treats, and seems to like a softer meat treat. He is given only bits of a treat for training, as he could stand to drop a few pounds like his foster parents, LOL!(direct from the fosters mouth!) He is a great signaler when he needs to go out- he gets very excited after he poops, and does a happy dance/run when he comes in! It's hilarious to watch. We recommend a fenced yard, as he does enjoy to chase and bark at the neighborhood squirrels that taunt him. Goose has shown some fear of moving cars when leashed. We are working toward reducing that sensitivity. Goose enjoys playing and running in the yard. He is responsive and walks well on a training collar. He loves his crate, and opens the door and runs right in. He prefers blankets to a bed, as he destroyed his Black Friday dog bed within 24 hours. He does not chew on his blankets, and prefers to have a squeaky toy in his kennel. He sleeps in his kennel. He can go 5 hours without a potty break. If he feels left out when our other dogs are getting attention, he will protest for a minute or so. He totally loves car rides. Due to larger vehicles, he sometimes needs a boost to get in the back seat. Goose knows all basic commands: Sit, down, off, no jump, and has improved on leash. He has gone shopping to several stores and has been in an elevator. He is not spooked by objects or wind (not sure about thunder). We are working on a stronger recall. We have a 6 foot fence. He recall is good within the fence if squirrels and deer are not on the opposite side of the fence. We have seen no digging, and very little jumping. They've never tried a recall off leash. Oh my gosh! If our foster didn't have 3 big dogs, this boy would have a forever home already! He has the best and gentlest demeanor. His lovely gold eyes will melt your heart. He may have less hair than other dogs, but his heart and gentle soul make up for that in spades! If you are looking for a lower shedding velcro boy, this is your guy. And his foster will cry when he's found his perfect family! This Fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. http://dobermanrescueminnesota.com/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home.
