Story
Maybe I was named after MARVEL's Nick Fury. Or maybe I was named after the Brad Pitt war movie But one this is for sure - I am NOT fur-y-ous!!! I am a really SWEET boy who loves children and adults, in fact I was the KID'S best friend when I was in my foster home. I was part of their birthday celebrations and was just in HEAVEN with all the kids :) I am looking for a home with older kids because I am a little protective of my toys and snacks- so older kids who understand my boundaries are the best ;) I mean, my chickem nuggets are mine...even though they came from your hand! :) Maybe I am like Nick Fury because I can be a touch overwhelming to older and more timid dogs. I like dogs who are on the same level with me - you get it? ;) While I am not really big, less than 50 lbs, I am essentially 100 pounds of busy and need to be active. No apartment living for me, please! I like space and action and activity and being mentally stimulated - maybe I am a lot like Nick Fury ... hmmm, but nothing that a bunch of adventures wouldn't cure!!! Give me an active family or couple, and I am IN! And by active I mean, running and biking and camping and THROWING the ball for me- over and over please! I LOVE THE BALL! I am healthy and happy boy, and I am racing around waiting for you to race WITH me!!! Come on and adopt me and lets git to gitting!!! Adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Hi! I’m Cyrus! I’m about 2 years old and look to be maybe a Doberman/Lab mix, but that’s just a guess! I’m a very happy boy and I love to play!  I’m very sweet and would do great in training (as I will do just about anything for a treat ). I’d do great in an active family, someone who can take me on daily walks and help me get out some energy. I do good with other dogs, but the shelter still reccomends we do a meet & greet if I'm going to be in a home with other dogs. I've spent the last 4 weeks at a training facility getting hands on training to be the bestest boy! I kow how to sit, lay down, and walk well on a leash! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##1836569##

Story
Forever in Foster CareReina will be a forever foster in DRM's Program and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.    Meet Reina! This girl is 7 years old and is handicapable! Reina was originally rescued from a high kill shelter by an all breed rescue. It was apparent she suffered from neurological issues, but nothing could be found on x-rays of her spine. DRM then stepped in and welcomed Reina into our program to get the help needed so she can thrive!   Reina was born with a condition that caused the nerves from her back legs to brain to not map completely. Sometimes she can be a bit wobbly and sometimes she suffers from incontinence. She is on a special diet that has helped a lot with her potty issues though!  Reina’s favorite activities include snuggling her humans, chewing on bones, going for walks, playdates with her friends and exploring the yard. She also LOVES to chase rabbits and squirrels! When she’s tuckered out, she’ll sunbathe looking out the window or hang out with her foster family.  Reina has lived with other dogs and cats – she’s awesome with dogs but can be very curious about her feline friends. Reina is super smart and knows all the basic commands. Her recall is great (as long as she’s not scouting for bunnies or squirrels) and she is very food motivated to learn anything else you’d like to teach her. She is a hit around the neighborhood with her sunny disposition and love of everyone she meets. December 2, 2023, 6:08 pm

Story
Looking for his forever family!Goose, where do we begin with this amazing, gentle 5 yo lovebug. He has a way of luring you in with those golden eyes and then as they say, the rest is history.  Goose is still new in his foster's home, and has been kenneled with their other dogs daily. He has been introduced to 3 dogs and has shown no aggression. He and the other male resident Doberman remain leashed when together to shape appropriate behaviors.  Goose loves stuffed squeaking toys and filled dog bones. When not cuddling, he can be found playing independently. He will engage occasionally with a tug of war, and hasn't destroyed a single toy!  Goose is great with cats and continues to remain leashed with them in the room as they have been shaping his safe behavior with them.  Goose has oily skin related to his color dilute pattern as a Blue Doberman. Foster uses two Mal-a-ket wipes each evening on his neck and back. Due to his hair loss, he loves wearing a sweater and cuddling under blankets. His back has little hair, and he's nearly non-shedding! His face, neck, legs and back end have full hair.  Due to the likelihood of a sensitivity to chicken, his diet is a fish/rice kibble. Fosters have added 2 10 mg tabs of Melatonin, and fish oil along with a tsp of yeast twice daily. He also enjoys plain yogurt (1 T am) and a T of pumpkin each day. He prefers to eat in his kennel with the door closed, and sometimes flips his bowl, so a slow feeder helps with this. He is picky about treats, and seems to like a softer meat treat. He is given only bits of a treat for training, as he could stand to drop a few pounds like his foster parents, LOL!(direct from the fosters mouth!) He is a great signaler when he needs to go out- he gets very excited after he poops, and does a happy dance/run when he comes in! It's hilarious to watch. We recommend a fenced yard, as he does enjoy to chase and bark at the neighborhood squirrels that taunt him. Goose has shown some fear of moving cars when leashed. We are working toward reducing that sensitivity. Goose enjoys playing and running in the yard. He is responsive and walks well on a training collar. He loves his crate, and opens the door and runs right in. He prefers blankets to a bed, as he destroyed his Black Friday dog bed within 24 hours. He does not chew on his blankets, and prefers to have a squeaky toy in his kennel. He sleeps in his kennel. He can go 5 hours without a potty break. If he feels left out when our other dogs are getting attention, he will protest for a minute or so. He totally loves car rides. Due to larger vehicles, he sometimes needs a boost to get in the back seat. Goose knows all basic commands: Sit, down, off, no jump, and has improved on leash. He has gone shopping to several stores and has been in an elevator. He is not spooked by objects or wind (not sure about thunder). We are working on a stronger recall. We have a 6 foot fence. He recall is good within the fence if squirrels and deer are not on the opposite side of the fence. We have seen no digging, and very little jumping. They've never tried a recall off leash. Oh my gosh! If our foster didn't have 3 big dogs, this boy would have a forever home already! He has the best and gentlest demeanor. His lovely gold eyes will melt your heart. He may have less hair than other dogs, but his heart and gentle soul make up for that in spades! If you are looking for a lower shedding velcro boy, this is your guy. And his foster will cry when he's found his perfect family!  This Fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. http://dobermanrescueminnesota.com/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Story
New to DRM, stay tuned for more info!!New to Doberman Rescue Minnesota. Our foster home is learning  more about this great Doberman everyday and she is available for applications.   What we do know for now is she is a super gentle and sweet petite beautiful girl. She is doing wonderful with the resident Dobie X male doggo in the house. They play together nicely and drink and eat together and have no issues. She does not have a lot of training in her and she will need an eager, loving and patient adopter. She is a counter surfer and the foster is working on that. She rides beautifully in the car and just gets in and lays down for the ride. No barking or jumping around. She will need some leash training, she does ok but definitely room for improvement. She has done awesome meeting all adults thus far. We do not know about kids. We have been told she may not do well with small dogs or cats. She was not crate trained and is kind of scared of it, so the foster is just letting her sleep on dog beds and uses baby gates for boundaries. But if there is something on the other side she is wanting she will jump the gate in the house, so foster feels she will be required a fenced in yard for her safety. Vixen would do well in a home that is quieter and would have a dog companion to hang out with(large dog like her size).  She is a total love bug and just wants to be snuggled, adored and petted as much as she can.  This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog.
