Story
Honey-Suri is a happy, healthy, cuddly, active luvbug who thrives with a playmate. She acts like a big dog in a medium-sized body as she loves "big dog play". She also loves initiating and leading a chase, stalking squirrels, sunbathing, cuddling, and "keeping watch". You'll never need a doorbell when she's in charge! With her friendly, social nature, she loves meeting new people, but isn't great with young, small children. She's never actually bit, but has given a 'warning snip' at times, which leads me to believe she's either confused or annoyed by them. Her favorite activity is to play chase and wrestle with big dogs, despite her short & long stature. She had complete reconstructive surgery on her front right leg due to a rare deformity. She sometimes walks with a tiny limp, but has overcome the arduous healing process and has blossomed into a beautiful, active, happy girl. She absolutely LOVES to give kisses, go on daily walks or run her zoomies out in the yard, and even when it's cold she'll answer "the look" with immediate play and zoom around. She's friendly and welcoming with all dogs, big or small, but hasn't yet mastered gentle play with puppies. She gets so excited and I suspect that once they initiate play with her, she concludes they can keep up, not realizing they can not and gets excitedly carried away.
This girl is a bundle of love and play! She'd do very well with a large yard and an equal playmate to enjoy life with. In my experience, she has avoided leaving the fenced yard even when an accidental opportunity has presented itself. The one time she got out, she walked around to the back yard's gate and layed down. Whew....! I found her sunbathing and the minute she heard my voice, jumped up to the back gate to be let in, not realizing she could've coaxed the front gate open. It was adorable (and immensely reassuring.) She's extremely smart and is excellent with the doggie door. She likes to come and go regardless of weather. She's completely potty trained and lets you know when she wants to go out.
She's a fast eater, so I use a sheet pan to spread her food out. She's somewhat guarded with her food with other dogs, so I feed her in a space no one will try to take from her. She IS however a bone thief! She'll wait patiently or sometimes impatiently for someone to walk away from their bone and she'll snatch it up and finish it. I always take it away from her when I catch her stealing. One, as a matter of manners, but two in order to control her calories. She is an opportunist eater, so I'm very careful to never leave other foster pups' kibble accessible to her. She loves apples & carrots as a snack and charms you with her stunning good looks to gain just one more baby carrot!
Because she doesn't know her own strength, we recomend she go to a home with no small children or animals.
