🐾 Meet Jack — Our Big, Goofy Doberman Pup! 🖤 Jack is a 1-year-old black and tan Doberman with a heart as big as his paws! Curious, active, and eager to learn, this handsome boy loves to stay busy and be part of the action. He’s incredibly smart and enjoys training sessions, especially when there are toys involved. Fetch is his favorite game, and he picks up on shaping exercises very quickly. When it comes to grooming, Jack is a dream. He’s calm for teeth brushing, nail grinding, baths, ear cleaning, and even eye drops. He’s got wonderful crate manners too, happily napping or sleeping through the night with his favorite stuffed toy tucked under his chin. Jack was found as a stray and is still tentative about the big world around him. He’s very reactive to moving vehicles, so peaceful wooded hikes are his happy place while he continues working on desensitization. He also loves car rides, but he’ll need to be securely harnessed since his enthusiasm for watching passing cars can make him a bit too wiggly on the road! Because of his size (and his clumsy puppy energy!), he’ll need a securely fenced yard to safely run and play, and a home without children. Jack has shown some mild guarding behavior over found items like socks or clothing, but he’s learning “drop it” beautifully and has made great progress with his foster parents’ guidance. Potential adopters should simply be aware that he may need continued consistency as he adjusts to a new home. This lovable boy wants to be close to his people at all times and loves cuddles, kisses, and companionship are his love language. Jack will thrive with an experienced adopter who understands Dobermans, can continue his training, and will give him the structure and affection he craves. Courtesy Post – Colby Meet Colby, a young Doberman mix currently waiting in a Vineland, New Jersey shelter. Colby is about one year old, weighs roughly 47 pounds, and has already endured far more than a dog his age should. He was found just before Halloween tied to a pole and alone, and he has now spent months in a kennel environment that is proving overwhelming for him. Like many adolescent, high-energy dogs, Colby is struggling with prolonged confinement. His anxiety shows up as restlessness and barking, and he has even developed happy-tail injuries from wagging against the kennel walls. He is currently receiving Trazodone, which has helped take the edge off, but medication can only do so much in a shelter setting. What Colby truly needs is a calmer environment with space, routine, and consistent human interaction. Outside the kennel, staff describe a very different dog. When his anxiety is managed, Colby is gentle taking treats, responsive to people, and eager to engage. He is young, intelligent, and ready to learn, with no reports of aggression. With regular exercise, mental stimulation, and a stable home environment, he is expected to settle and thrive. Medically, Colby is in good shape. He is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, on routine parasite prevention, and otherwise stable. He is not a “problem dog.” He is a sensitive, energetic young dog whose needs are simply not being met in a prolonged shelter stay. Meet Bricks, a stunning 5-year-old black and tan Doberman with cropped ears, a docked tail, and a heart as big as his name. Bricks came to DPRPA from Louisiana after being dropped off at a shelter with his buddy Diesel. Thanks to the wonderful folks at Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue, he made his way north to safety and care. No one knows why he was surrendered, but one thing is certain — this boy is a loving, loyal companion. Bricks is gentle and loving with his people, but does need slow introductions to strangers and may be end up being people selective. He gets along well with his current foster sister, and a meet and greet will be required for any potential adopters who have another dog in the home. He has been tested with cats and small animals and needs a home without either. Because of his size and enthusiasm, he would do best in a home with older children. Harley is currently at a rescue in Oklahoma. We are looking for a home in a state where people treat their animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport near one of the cities listed at bottom. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. -Harley is a male and is 5-6 months old (January 24th) -He and his 2 brothers look completely different, Harley looks like a Doberman (sleek bodied, long thin face), one looks like a Shepherd mix, and another looks like a Shepherd/Rottie mix. So, I think they are a mixed bag breed-wise.
