Story
More information on our website.

Story
More information on our website.

Story
More information on our website.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DIXIE and her 5 siblings were born after their mum, was saved from a large hoarding case in Northern Texas (April 2026) where the American Humane were involved due to the scale of abuse and neglect. "Sweetie" their mum was heavily pregnant and had a rotted, infected foot/leg that caused her leg to need amputation. Luckily she was saved and was able to give birth to 6 healthy pups in the safety of the local animal control department and their foster team. After getting vetted and old enough to travel (8 wks) they arrived safely at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on 28 May 2026. We had planned to take their mum, Sweetie along with the pups, but we are happy to share that she was a Foster-Fail down in Texas. We welcome adopters from across the East Coast and Canada — many of our families travel to meet and take home their new best friend! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LESLIE was originally saved from a high kill shelter in Texas back in April 2017 and adopted to a family in NH in October 2017. Sadly she was picked up as a stray in April 2026 and after finally being able to reach the owner, they told me they do not want her anymore. The owners also told me that she was with a small black chihuahua whom was not with her when caught. Just 5 days of having Leslie back we had her at Androscoggin vets for blood work, dental and rabies. She had 13 teeth extracted, her blood work came back good, she is heartworm and tick disease negative, she had her rabies vaccine, weighs 15 pounds and we are happy she is a healthy girl who is now pain free having all those rotted teeth extracted. Health & Background ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ Monthly preventatives ✅ Heartworm and tick tested negative ✅ Microchipped with 24PetWatch ⚖️ Weight 15pounds Estimated date of birth: 22 October 2016 Dental - 13 teeth extracted, teeth cleaned - May 2026 Leslie is a very affectionate girl, she is responsive, walks great on the leash, rides great in the car, takes treats gently, she is food motivated.  Although Leslie, being around 9-10 years old making her a senior she is still a happy active girl and we are looking for a family that is still active and gets out on walks and adventures to ensure this sweet girl gets the best life possible. As a senior, she will need regular vet appointments and her remaining teeth kept clean to keep her mouth healthy and prevent pain and disease. Regular blood work is also recommended to keep an eye on her health. She is medium-long haired and will need to be brushed regular and around her face and private areas groomed. Give a Dog a Home Rescue reached out to the local animal control and lost pet organizations and made it known that Edgar, a small black chihuahua was missing and after several weeks, sightings were reported and he was thankfully caught. Leslie & Edgar were reunited and they are both happy and healthy and ready for their TRUE forever family. Edgar is around 5 years old and we are only looking to keep these best friends together. Leslie & Edgar are available for an adoption fee of $1,000 Adoption Details Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Lucy. ⏱️ Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Leslie?
