Story
Meet Miss Eloise – The Sweetest Momma Dog Eloise is a true survivor and an inspiration to everyone who meets her. Her journey has been incredibly challenging, but through it all, she has remained gentle, loving, and full of heart. We tried to rescue Eloise directly from the LA shelter as she was scheduled to be euthanized, but she was adopted before we could get to her. Sadly, but with good intentions, the adopter brought home both Eloise and another dominant female Cane Corso. Without any gradual introduction or separation, a serious fight occurred between the two girls shortly after. Eloise, already exhausted and weakened from her past, received the worst of it and was unable to fully protect herself. Thankfully, we saw a post from the adopter asking for help, and within hours, one of our dedicated volunteers had her safely in our care. Eloise’s challenges didn’t end there. She had been bred nearly to the point of exhaustion, and after just one day with her foster mom, it was clear she was very sick. At the ER, we discovered she had injuries from the fight, pneumonia, pyometra, bilateral ACL tears, and a belly full of puppies. Her resilience is truly astonishing. Even after returning home from her first ER visit, she experienced setbacks and required multiple nights of IV fluids and medications. Through it all, Eloise has been nothing short of a champion, calm, sweet, and loving. Today, she’s thriving in her foster home. She has some pep in her step and a much happier dog. About Eloise • Personality: Gentle, affectionate, resilient, and loving • Health: Recovering from serious injuries and illnesses; thriving in foster care • Dog Compatibility: Not fully evaluated with other dogs due to her recovery. A quiet home with no other pets is ideal for now, though she may be compatible with a friendly male dog in the future after reassessment • Ideal Home: A calm, loving environment where she can feel safe, relax, and enjoy the affection she deserves Eloise has endured so much loss, neglect, and hardship. Now, she’s ready for a home forever where she can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished. Could your home be the perfect place for Miss Eloise to thrive? Story
Quill may be a big guy, but at heart he’s still very much a baby who’s learning his way through the world. Quill has been doing wonderfully in a home environment. He appears to be potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go out — sometimes a little dramatically if you take too long! He’s very food motivated and already knows to sit patiently while meals are prepared and before his bowl is set down. He’ll hang out in the kitchen hoping you might drop a snack (ice cubes are a favorite), but he’s polite and not pushy about it. Despite his size, Quill is an easygoing and gentle soul. He doesn’t quite realize how strong he is yet, but there isn’t a mean bone in his body. He’s happy to keep himself entertained with toys, even tossing them around on his own if you don’t engage in playtime. That said, his favorite place is wherever his people are — ideally right next to you. Quill does well with crating, settling after a short protest, and has even been known to put himself to bed in his crate. However, if invited onto the bed, he will happily take on the role of a full-body weighted blanket. He’s already mastered stairs, enjoys walks, and is curious about the world around him, especially new sounds and sights. He’s seen other dogs on walks and seems excited and interested in playing. Quill would thrive in a home that understands large-breed puppies and is ready to continue helping him learn manners, confidence, and how to manage his size as he grows. In return, he’ll offer endless affection, laughs, and loyal companionship. If you’re looking for a big, lovable, slightly clueless teenager who just wants to be near his people, Quill might be your perfect match. Quill was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2649050##

Story
Taco is a HUGE, young goofball who truly believes he’s still a puppy. He’s incredibly sweet, full of love, and always ready to play, cuddle, or follow you around like your oversized shadow. With his size and puppy energy, Taco can be a bit too much for small children—but he’d be a fantastic match for a home with older kids who can keep up with his enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a big-hearted, giant puppy to grow up with your family, Taco is your guy. What I Need In a Home:* Older children recommended
