Story
Quill may be a big guy, but at heart he’s still very much a baby who’s learning his way through the world.
Quill has been doing wonderfully in a home environment. He appears to be potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go out — sometimes a little dramatically if you take too long! He’s very food motivated and already knows to sit patiently while meals are prepared and before his bowl is set down. He’ll hang out in the kitchen hoping you might drop a snack (ice cubes are a favorite), but he’s polite and not pushy about it.
Despite his size, Quill is an easygoing and gentle soul. He doesn’t quite realize how strong he is yet, but there isn’t a mean bone in his body. He’s happy to keep himself entertained with toys, even tossing them around on his own if you don’t engage in playtime. That said, his favorite place is wherever his people are — ideally right next to you.
Quill does well with crating, settling after a short protest, and has even been known to put himself to bed in his crate. However, if invited onto the bed, he will happily take on the role of a full-body weighted blanket. He’s already mastered stairs, enjoys walks, and is curious about the world around him, especially new sounds and sights. He’s seen other dogs on walks and seems excited and interested in playing.
Quill would thrive in a home that understands large-breed puppies and is ready to continue helping him learn manners, confidence, and how to manage his size as he grows. In return, he’ll offer endless affection, laughs, and loyal companionship.
If you’re looking for a big, lovable, slightly clueless teenager who just wants to be near his people, Quill might be your perfect match.
Quill was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.
Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!
We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.
Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog.
If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
