Blake is going to be a fabulous dog but he’s going to require a dog savvy home. Dogos are amazing dogs but experienced owners are ideal due to their size, strength, and prey drive. Blake is not a fan of a crate but his foster has been working hard to figure out what works best for him. He’s a young boy so for his safety and the safety of the crap he may eat when you’re not home, he needs to be contained when he can’t be supervised. He is also quite the “marker” when he goes into a new place. It’s a pain in the ass but dies down with time. Although Blake won’t be a match for many homes, he will be a match for one of them. The face of an angel. Malala doesn’t need any frills to catch attention. She’s cute in pictures but real life is even better. Malala does a little hop trot when she is excited and often rocks the stuck lip look. Precious we know! Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
