Story
Find out more about Aemond, he's a fiery pup! Aemond was surrendered by a breeder because they couldn't find a good home for him and he was well past the puppy stage. He was the size of an adult dog, so prepare yourself for a big dog! He was quite fearful of mostly everything but has made great progress with his foster. The only thing he doesn't quite like still are cars and occasionally gets car sick on rides. He's very slowly catching onto potty training; uses doggy door to go out. He is a love bug and will need to create a connection with his person, otherwise his puppy energy will get the better of him. Slow intro, possible prey drive. Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Ryder is a truly special boy. He's a Dogo Argentino. His front legs are extremely deformed and we call him Jelly Legs. We've been down this road before (some of you may remember our original Wonky Legs, aka Jem). We figured we'd be taking on a major medical case, have to do lots of fundraising, but we'd find a way to "fix" his legs if possible. Well, months later, our sweet Jelly Legs is always going to remain Jelly Legs. We have consulted with some of the top orthopedic teams in the country, and the answers have always been the same. It boils down to this: "...feel that any surgery options he has would only have very minimal impact on his lameness and would do little to slow the progression of his arthritis. He may also require several surgeries to achieve even minimal improvement. Essentially, the surgical process and recovery would not outweigh the benefit." All of the teams have been lovely and we really appreciate their input and their honesty that surgery wouldn't have the outcome we hoped for. And so, we move on and look to Ryder's future! He does not act as if he's in pain, but he has to be - at the very least - in a measure of discomfort. This bubs never lets on though. He's such a happy-go-lucky lovebug! Because of his legs, he can't really hold a bone or toy in between his front paws, like you've seen a million dogs do. His foster mama will sit with him on the couch and hold a bone for him, and he will happily gnaw away on it for an hour while she watches TV or reads a book. He still loves to play, he LOVES to give kisses, he loves to cuddle. He's such a handsome guy! We asked Ryder for his wishlist and here was his response: - Need to be the one and only pet - Carpet is nice but not a requirement! It's so much easier for me to navigate (even walking outside, I prefer to walk on the grass over the sidewalk, more cush for my joints) - No more than 3 steps to get in and out of the house is also ideal, stairs aren't my friend - I gets vocal when I'm lonely. I can howl with the best of them. I'm not at all destructive, but I'd be sad with someone who was gone 10 hours a day - Cheese. I need lots of cheese. - A dad with a bald head would be ideal. Polishing my foster dad's noggin is my favorite pastime. - I may weigh 85 lbs, but I'm a lapdog. Yes, I am. I fit, I swear. - I love to give kisses, it's my favorite Ryder is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and in much better health than when he came to us. He and his brother were found in an abandoned building in Chicago Heights, with some severe skin infections and grossly underweight. This boy looks SO much better than he did, and he really is a happy and healthy guy. He doesn't let birth defect get him down at all! His adoption fee is $250.

MAGGIE - HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ADOPTION SPECIAL - $50 Maggie is a 63.8 pound, 7 1/2 year old, spayed, female, Dogo Argentino (possibly) & Pit Bull that came to the shelter as a stray. They were able to find her owners, but they decided to surrender her because she kept escaping :( and she did not get along with their children. NO SMALL CHILDREN Her previous owners stated she is house and crate trained, and she lived with other cats. They stated Maggie does not like their 2 year old, and she would get nervous and nip if they got too close. Nobody ever got hurt, but the previous owners did nothing to keep the child away or to keep Maggie from being out in uncomfortable situations with the child. Her previous owners said Maggie lived with other dogs, but did not get along with them. Maggie was described as a social, lap loving, curious, and active girl that loves car rides, fetch, running, toys, and playing in water! Here at the shelter, Maggie is an active and happy girl that engages well with new people. Maggie is very friendly and did well during her intake, and once we were done, she was ready to go out and play! She gets excited at first, but calms quickly during play. Maggie enjoys booty scratches and petting, and she takes treats very nicely. She has not reacted negatively to any of the other dogs through the kennel. Due to her past, Maggie will need a home with no young children under the age of 13! She is microchipped and up to date on her rabies vaccine. Her adoption fee is $100. Story
Hey, There-my name is Watson but my nickname should be Mr. Playful. I LOVE everyone I meet. Person-dog-cat- whatever…I’m going to follow you around and ask for all the pets! My favorite activities include chasing a ball around the backyard and going for walks with my foster dad. I’m one of the friendliest dogs in the rescue so I always get invited to all their fun events. I’m not only a master on a leash but also do great on car rides & in my kennel. I may be playful but I know how to read a room and when to chill. We asked my foster dad for a list of things about me- he did a pretty good job! He loves to share your pillow at night (or try to take it all) He chases his tail like a tornado. Gives you little love sniffs to the face. Rolls over on top of you for belly rubs. Like to lay against your legs while napping. Peeks his head in the shower and wants to lick your wet legs. Follows you everywhere. At ALL TIMES. He gives good hugs. I can’t think of one reason that would make you not fill an application out for me unless you hate fun.

Story
Derpy, dorky, downright adorable Oscar is searching for a fun-loving forever family. This sweet fella was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky. His appearance suggests he's a Boxer mix, most likely crossed with a herding breed such as an Aussie, Cattledog, Shepherd, etc. He is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years of age and weighs 45 pounds, a fantastic medium size! Oscar is an absolute hoot and is the life of the party wherever he goes. He exhibits the boisterous, enthusiastic, clownish personality that Boxers are known for, and he would love to find guardians who are just as adventurous, energetic, and goofy as he is. Oscar has yet to meet a stranger and greets every human and canine he meets as a long-lost friend. He's a happy, social dog who always has a smile on his face. His zest for life is contagious, and it's hard to be in a bad mood in the presence of this goof. It appears he has not had much formal training before arriving at Pal's Place. He can still be a bit rambunctious and mouthy when excited, so homes with older children who will not be knocked over or overwhelmed by his exuberant greetings will be the best match for him. Oscar's ideal home will be with guardians who can help him work on his manners and some basic obedience, as well as guardians who can provide him with lots of exercise and playtime throughout the day. Like most teenage working and herding breeds, Oscar will thrive in a home that can provide him with a predictable routine, structure, consistency, boundaries, and plentiful mental and physical stimulation. Oscar is proving to be a quick study and making significant progress in his foster home. He's extremely intelligent, attentive, motivated, and eager to please, and teaching him new things is a lot of fun. Guardians with a sense of humor are also a must because this guy loves to make his humans laugh!! He is being fostered in a home with several other dogs and gets along well with his housemates. He is crate-trained and housebroken. Oscar is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. Oscar is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. For more information or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org • Oscar's adoption fee is $375.
