Story
Derpy, dorky, downright adorable Oscar is searching for a fun-loving forever family. This sweet fella was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky. His appearance suggests he's a Boxer mix, most likely crossed with a herding breed such as an Aussie, Cattledog, Shepherd, etc. He is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years of age and weighs 45 pounds, a fantastic medium size! Oscar is an absolute hoot and is the life of the party wherever he goes. He exhibits the boisterous, enthusiastic, clownish personality that Boxers are known for, and he would love to find guardians who are just as adventurous, energetic, and goofy as he is. Oscar has yet to meet a stranger and greets every human and canine he meets as a long-lost friend. He's a happy, social dog who always has a smile on his face. His zest for life is contagious, and it's hard to be in a bad mood in the presence of this goof. It appears he has not had much formal training before arriving at Pal's Place. He can still be a bit rambunctious and mouthy when excited, so homes with older children who will not be knocked over or overwhelmed by his exuberant greetings will be the best match for him. Oscar's ideal home will be with guardians who can help him work on his manners and some basic obedience, as well as guardians who can provide him with lots of exercise and playtime throughout the day. Like most teenage working and herding breeds, Oscar will thrive in a home that can provide him with a predictable routine, structure, consistency, boundaries, and plentiful mental and physical stimulation. Oscar is proving to be a quick study and making significant progress in his foster home. He's extremely intelligent, attentive, motivated, and eager to please, and teaching him new things is a lot of fun. Guardians with a sense of humor are also a must because this guy loves to make his humans laugh!! He is being fostered in a home with several other dogs and gets along well with his housemates. He is crate-trained and housebroken. Oscar is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. Oscar is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved.
