Story
Meet Agnes! Agnes was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter by her previous owner. Agnes was underweight, had a skin infection and urine staining all over her legs and stomach. It looked as if she was confined to a small space where she was quite literally laying in her own waste. Agnes is a petite boxer mix who is around 12 years old. Agnes is equal parts independent and affectionate. Don’t underestimate this golden girl, she loves spending time outside rain or shine going for easy walks and exploring her surroundings.  Since coming to us Agnes has been aging in reverse and has really come out of her shell. She is a staff and volunteer favorite and always up for a visit. Agnes does have some impaired mobility and may have difficulty navigating stairs in a home.  Agnes has done fantastic with all people and with how affectionate she is would likely do well with children. Agnes has done well with some dogs at the rescue and may do well with another easy going dog in a home. She seems indifferent to them most of the time and would do just fine as the only dog in the home. Agnes was tested with cats and did wonderful! She was aware of them with gentle curiosity and was respectful of their space.  While we don’t know Agnes's exact age we do know she has some more good years in her and we would love to see her spoiled with love and cozy beds for the time she does have left. Agnes is an easy keeper but does take daily medication to manage her arthritis and she is hypothyroid. Luckily this girl LOVES food so giving her medication is a breeze. Agnes has shown signs of being potty trained when she has access to outside and is on an established routine. Adopters should be prepared to assist with creating a predictable routine for her and be ok with an accident or two in the beginning.  If you would like to be considered as Anges's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website!     ##1909896##
