Story
Are you looking for a sweet, gentle, fuzzy panther to add to your family? Napoleon might be the cat for you! This 8-year-old kitty came to us in the summer of 2024 from one of our partner rescues here in Maine. He was transferred to HART because he is diabetic, and we have a lot of experience with successfully caring for diabetic cats. His diabetes is currently well-managed with a low-carb, canned food only diet (in our shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate), and twice-daily insulin injections. We will require that his adopter has a well-established relationship with a veterinarian, because we are committed to the health and happiness of Napoleon and his new guardians even after they leave our shelter. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopter training in the care of a diabetic cat (it’s easier than you think!), along with a blood-glucose testing kit, a vial of insulin with related supplies, and a generous starter amount of canned food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.Napoleon will be a fantastic addition to a family looking for an affectionate, laid-back cat-panion. Meet him in Room 4.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Jasper is a gentle, quiet soul who wins hearts with his calm nature and loving personality. He enjoys peaceful company and will happily spend time by your side, soaking up pets and affection. With his beautiful long coat, Jasper will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. He also benefits from an oral care diet and may need some dental work in the future to maintain his bright, healthy smile.Jasper is the perfect companion for someone who appreciates a calm, affectionate cat and is ready to give him the care he deserves. In return, he’ll reward you with endless love, quiet companionship, and a warm presence that makes any house feel like home.Jasper likes to pick fights with cats that can not stand up for themselves. We recommend that he is an only cat in the home. We are not sure how he will do with dogs. We have reports that some dogs he is fine with and others, he is not a fan of. Jasper has a big personality and is not a fan of the veterinary office. Jasper is currently on a medication to help him adjust to the shelter.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Maggie is a stunning 5-year-old long-haired girl with soft white fur and lovely tabby patches. She’s as beautiful as she is sensitive – a gentle soul who’s still adjusting after arriving at the shelter.Understandably, Maggie has been feeling nervous in this new, unfamiliar environment. She needs a calm, quiet home where she can take her time to settle in and feel safe. Once she starts to trust, Maggie enjoys attention – but always on her terms. She’s not the kind of cat to rush into things, but for the right person, she’ll be a loyal and loving companion.Maggie would do best with someone who understands that building trust with a shy cat takes time, patience, and a whole lot of love. If you’re looking for a soft, sweet companion who just needs a little extra understanding, Maggie might be your perfect match. Please fill out an adoption application at hartofme.org to meet Maggie 🐾Maggie is a part of our Shy Angels Socialization Program, and will require a meeting with a Shy Angels team member for final approval of adoption.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As
