Baby is very vocal and loves to beg for pats and affection. She moves around great on her three legs and loves rolling around on plushy blankets. She can be independent as well but also very playful. She doesn't seem to like other cats and was very nervous and unsure about the dog she was tested with. Baby Girl is on a special diet food for skin and stomach sensitivities. Come and meet this energetic snugglebug.

Story
Louise loves the finer things in life which is evident in her fondness for wet food, plush cat beds, lofty cat towers, and cozy window perches. Louise's vocal nature becomes particularly apparent when she's hungry, asking for attention and sustenance with her melodic meows. With an array of toys, kitty couches, and catnip to indulge her, Louise's days are filled with joy and contentment as she enjoys her family and their affection. With a heart as golden as her fur, she is open to the company of calm children but would prefer to be the sole pet in the household, snuggling and purring happily with her family. Louise is currently on a gastrointestinal diet. A staff member would be happy to chat more about this food if asked! Come and meet this gentle yet playful lady at Quiet City Books in Lewiston.

I am shy and undersocialized. I am looking for an indoor only home with another social cat or kitten to teach me social skills. I will need tons of time to settle in and tons of extra socialization to help me become more social. I love to play and would like to have plenty of toys, scratching posts, and cat towers so i can keep busy.

Story
Alvin is a charming, long-haired, brown tabby who will be pleased to meet you! He is 7 years old and came to HART in the Spring of 2023 when his guardians unfortunately could no longer provide care for him. Although he is selective about which other cats he is willing to hang out with, he is doing well living with his feline roommates at the shelter. With a slow and gradual introduction, we believe he could live in a home with other friendly cats and even a laid-back, cat-savvy dog.Alvin has a history of bladder stones and previously had surgery to remove them. In order to maintain his urinary health, he requires a wet-only diet, and we strongly recommend that he eat prescription urinary health formula wet food (We will send him home with a sample.). Alvin recently had a flare-up of chin acne that has healed up nicely. Since he can be nervous and reactive in stressful situations, our Medical Team has placed Alvin on medication to help him cope with the stress of living in a shelter environment. He would do best in a calm, low-key household without young children. His adoptive family will need to be committed to providing him with the necessary dietary care and regular veterinary check-ups to monitor his condition in order to ensure his health long-term. We will require that his adopter has an established relationship with a veterinarian. Our Adoption Team will review Alvin's specific needs with you prior to his adoption.Alvin may require a little extra care, but this loving boy is so worth it, and he will reward you with a lifetime of love and cuddles. Submit an application and come in to meet Alvin in Room 4.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Meet Yeehaw! This gentleman may not speak with an accent, but he sure will rope his way into your heart! He's mellow, quiet, and enjoys attention. Being picked up is somewhat ok, he doesn't totally understand what's happening. Yeehaw might do well with other animals, although he hasn't been around them here at KVHS; with the proper introductions we think he'll do ok!Yeehaw is also on a prescription diet, he will need someone with a good relationship with their vet due to having urinary tract difficulties. The diet is called C/D, and it helps prevent crystals from forming in his urine, which could lead to blockages.Ready to bring a little bit of southern charm into your life? Swing on down to meet Yeehaw!

Story
Meet Marble!Don't let his resting grump face fool you; he's actually a pretty mellow guy! He enjoys the simple things in life, from food to watching out his window. He enjoys gentle attention and slow movements; Marble was originally a stray so we don't know if he has previously been around other animals. Fast and loud noises do scare him, so a home without young children would be best!Interested in this handsome floof? Swing on down to KVHS during available adoption hours!

Story
Stache is a beautiful medium-haired cat who, while shy at first, rewards you with unabashed affection once settled and comfortable with you. She bonded with me, as her primary foster "mom," but was skittish around the men of the household. But for me, she was all goofy - rolling around, showing her belly, and soaking up affection. She would likely do best in a quiet household. In the right environment, she would be a loving, devoted companion.

Huxley may take a few moments to warm up to you but it will be all worth it in the end. Should do well with other animals, recommending cat savvy kids due to cautious and shy behavior. He can be extremely playful and curious once he settles. If interested please come to KVHS during opening hours.
