Story
Louis is a neutered, long-haired gentleman with a soft heart to match his fluffy coat. He’s on the shy side and likes to keep to cozy hiding spots at first, but don’t let that fool you—once you’re nearby, he’s happy to accept gentle pets and quiet company. Louis isn’t a fan of being picked up, but he shows affection in his own calm, sweet way. He does well with other cats and would be a great companion in a peaceful home that understands shy kitties just need a little patience. Give Louis the time and space to feel safe, and he’ll reward you with soft purrs and a quiet, loving presence.Cats are same day adoptions as they do not require an application process. If you'd like to meet our cats, call the shelter and we can get you scheduled in. Or come in during our kennel hours which are Mon-Fri 12pm-4pm. Or we are open Saturdays 9am-1pm. If you have any questions give us a call at 937-498-7201.

Story
Personality:Veni is a stunning 10-year-old longhaired gentleman with a striking white and black coat. He’s friendly and enjoys companionship, but he does have clear boundaries on what he’s comfortable with. Veni appreciates his space and will let you know when he’s had enough attention, so he’s best suited for a person who respects his cues and enjoys a more independent feline companion. Though he may be a bit particular, once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll happily enjoy your company on his terms.Good With:Veni has always been an only pet and has lived his entire life as the sole focus of his elderly owner’s attention. As such, he would do best in a home where he can remain the center of attention. While he enjoys human companionship, he may not be the ideal match for a household with other pets, especially if they’re overly energetic or pushy. A calm, quiet environment where Veni can maintain control of his space would suit him perfectly. Background:Veni was surrendered to our rescue when his elderly owner moved into assisted living and could no longer care for him. He’s had a peaceful life and is now looking for a new, understanding family that will respect his boundaries and allow him to live at his own pace. Veni is a bit of a refined gentleman who appreciates a bit of solitude but is still eager for affection when it’s on his terms.Special Notes:Veni’s ideal home is one with an experienced cat owner who understands that he may need some time to adjust and set the rules of his space. He’s a beautiful, sweet boy who, once comfortable, can be a wonderful companion. If you’re looking for a laid-back cat who knows what he likes, Veni could be your perfect match. If you’re ready to offer this handsome fellow a peaceful, loving home, come meet Veni today! If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Completing a questionnaire on any other website does not submit an application to our rescue, you must complete one on our website. Story
Hello, I'm Coco. My journey here is woven with magic. One starlit night, while dreaming beside my two kittens, a whispering wind told us of a place where warmth and love awaited. By morning, we found ourselves nestled in this cozy shelter. I'm a gentle soul, seeking a quiet corner in someone's heart and home. My sweet nature makes me the perfect companion for peaceful days. If you long for a touch of magic and a lot of love, I'm just the friend you need.Note from Paws human: Coco belonged to a 90-year old woman who never had her spayed, so she ended up pregnant. She had two kittens. The elderly woman died, and one of her neighbors brought in Coco and the kittens to Paws Animal Shelter. Coco is very shy and so far is hanging out on top of the cage in our Zen Meow room (set up for cats who need a calm home environment). In taking her photos I climbed on a chair and petted her, and she immediately started purring. She clearly loves attention but is a little to frightened yet to come down and meet people. With a little time, we're sure she'll come out of her shell. She really is a beautiful, loving cat. Story
Hello, I'm Beauty. I have a heart full of love and a spirit eager to play. My days are filled with chasing toys, and my nights are spent purring in contentment. People are my favorite; I just can't get enough of their company. Their gentle strokes and sweet whispers make my day. However, I must confess, I'm not a fan of other felines. I prefer to be the queen of my own castle. I dream of a home where I can be the center of attention, sharing my sweetness and playfulness with a loving family. Adopt me, and let's create a lifetime of beautiful memories together.Note from Paws humans: Beauty was abandoned at an apartment complex in Urbana and was brought to Paws Animal Shelter to find a forever home.
