Story
Hello, Im SJ. Life here with my brothers is safe, but we dream of a quiet home. Were a bit shy, clinging to each other for comfort in this new world. Gentle touches and soft voices help us feel secure. I spend my days observing, quietly hoping for a friend who understands the time it takes to trust. Adopting me means gaining a loyal companion who thrives on patience and love. Will you be my forever friend?Note from Paws humans: SJ and his two brothers lived with a man for two years until he had to move into a special home where he could be cared for, and they did not allow pets. It was a major shock to these poor brothers to suddenly find themselves in an animal shelter, no matter how nice. During quarantine we tried to let them run lose in our Isolation Room, but they just crawled under the cages and hid. Once they finished quarantine we decided to move them to the Zen Meow room, as they clearly need a calm, quiet environment. They all will let you pet them, but it will take time for them to really trust people. Story
Hello, I'm Beauty. I have a heart full of love and a spirit eager to play. My days are filled with chasing toys, and my nights are spent purring in contentment. People are my favorite; I just can't get enough of their company. Their gentle strokes and sweet whispers make my day. However, I must confess, I'm not a fan of other felines. I prefer to be the queen of my own castle. I dream of a home where I can be the center of attention, sharing my sweetness and playfulness with a loving family. Adopt me, and let's create a lifetime of beautiful memories together.Note from Paws humans: Beauty was abandoned at an apartment complex in Urbana and was brought to Paws Animal Shelter to find a forever home. Story
Hi, I'm Shadow. I'm a gentle, shy, and sweet kitten who was born in a busy home with too many cats. I love quiet corners and soft whispers. My days are filled with small adventures, like chasing shadows or finding the coziest spot for a nap. I dream of a home where I can blossom and share my tender heart. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend who will always cherish your gentle touch and quiet company.Note from Paws humans: Shadow was born to a home in Springfield with too many cats. This couple has rescued a number of strays in Springfield, and didn't get the last one spayed in time to prevent her from delivering a litter of kittens. The couple was overwhelmed by the number of cats in their home, and Shadow was overwhelmed too. We took Shadow in to offer her an opportunity to find a loving home with fewer cats! Story
Personality:Veni is a stunning 10-year-old longhaired gentleman with a striking white and black coat. He’s friendly and enjoys companionship, but he does have clear boundaries on what he’s comfortable with. Veni appreciates his space and will let you know when he’s had enough attention, so he’s best suited for a person who respects his cues and enjoys a more independent feline companion. Though he may be a bit particular, once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll happily enjoy your company on his terms.Good With:Veni has always been an only pet and has lived his entire life as the sole focus of his elderly owner’s attention. As such, he would do best in a home where he can remain the center of attention. While he enjoys human companionship, he may not be the ideal match for a household with other pets, especially if they’re overly energetic or pushy. A calm, quiet environment where Veni can maintain control of his space would suit him perfectly. Background:Veni was surrendered to our rescue when his elderly owner moved into assisted living and could no longer care for him. He’s had a peaceful life and is now looking for a new, understanding family that will respect his boundaries and allow him to live at his own pace. Veni is a bit of a refined gentleman who appreciates a bit of solitude but is still eager for affection when it’s on his terms.Special Notes:Veni’s ideal home is one with an experienced cat owner who understands that he may need some time to adjust and set the rules of his space. He’s a beautiful, sweet boy who, once comfortable, can be a wonderful companion. If you’re looking for a laid-back cat who knows what he likes, Veni could be your perfect match. If you’re ready to offer this handsome fellow a peaceful, loving home, come meet Veni today! If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Completing a questionnaire on any other website does not submit an application to our rescue, you must complete one on our website.
