Story
Meet Boo! Boo is a lovely 6-year-old long-haired black cat with a heart as soft as her fur (which is growing back beautifully after being shaved due to matting). She came from a tough situation along with her sister and is now looking for a calm, caring home where she can feel safe and loved. Boo is a quiet, sweet-natured cat who enjoys gentle pets, cozy window views, and—best of all—being brushed. Because of her long coat, she’ll need regular grooming, and she truly enjoys the attention that comes with it. She would thrive in a peaceful home without young children (under 10 years old), where she can settle in at her own pace. Once she feels comfortable, Boo will reward your patience with loyal companionship and quiet affection. To meet Boo, complete an online application at www.washingtonpashelter.org or visit during walk through hours on Tuesday 1pm - 7pm and Wednesday through Saturday 1pm - 4pm.

Story
Beautiful Raquel needs a patient, understanding, gentle adopter. She's never experinced those things from a human before and she doesn't quite understand them yet. Raquel originally came from an overcrowded home in Erie County where she was neglected and ignored by the humans. She and a few of her housemates made their way to a shelter here in Westmoreland County where she stayed for about 6 months while volunteers worked hard to gain her trust. Sadly, that shelter had to close their doors so Raquel came to us at Pet Freinds in the hopes that a home environment would help her come out of her shell. Progress has been slow and she is still very fearful and can come off as a mean girl. While Raquel is loved and safe in her foster home, we would love to see her move into a permanent situation so she won't ever need to move around again. It is possible she would be happier and better suited for barn-cat life away from people and those homes would be considered. Ultimately, we'd love to see her go into a quiet home with a loving, patient family. She may never be a lap cat or even be terribly social but she is a gorgeous girl who deserves a chance at a soft place to land.

Story
Camilla's lived in a cramped, cluttered home, one of dozens of cats stacked together in a place overwhelmed by neglect. The chaos around her was loud, dusty, and frightening, but Camilla held onto a quiet hope deep inside. When the rescuers came, Camilla was cautious. She had learned to stay small and out of sight, watching the world from behind a curtain of her long beautiful coat. But there was something about the gentle hands that lifted her out of the crowd, something kind in their voices, that made her relax just a little. At her foster home, Camilla met the quiet calm she’d never known. Her eyes grew brighter every day. She started to trust the humans around her, nudging their hands, curling up close to feel the warmth of a gentle touch. Despite all she had endured, Camilla was still affectionate, with a soft purr that whispered stories of resilience and hope. Now, Camilla dreams of a quiet home where she can stretch out in the sun, chase dust motes in the air, and sleep without fear. She may have come from a difficult past, but her heart is wide open, ready to give and receive all the love she deserves.
