Story
Calm - Friendly - Cuddly While Baguette started out shy and nervous, she quickly adjusted to being in her foster house. Now she loves getting pets and attention and happily cuddles when her fosters sit next to her. Even during playtime she’s often more interested in giving and receiving affection while her foster siblings are busy playing, although she certainly still has a playful side. She hasn’t climbed into our laps yet, but she’s put a paw up on our leg before and given her loving nature we think it’s possible, although not guaranteed, that she could eventually become a lap cat. Baguette’s fur is extremely long, soft, and majestic and she loves having it brushed, but it is prone to matts and she sheds a lot, so it will require care and possibly regular trips to a groomer. She frequently cuddles with and receives comfort from her foster sister Brioche, and we consider them to be bonded.

Story
Wary Crostini is a very nervous cat, and her fosters are still working on socializing her. She came to us younger and later than her foster siblings Breadstick, Baguette, and Brioche, and is taking time to adjust to the life of a house cat. She is making slow but very real progress, responding well to treats but still easily scared and not ready yet for pets. Her fosters are looking forward to getting to know her better as she learns that humans are friends. Crostini sometimes cuddles and plays with her foster brother Breadstick, and they may be a good pair to go together once she is ready for adoption.

Story
Playful - Sweet - Cautious Brioche is a shy, mild-mannered beauty who may take some time to find her comfort zone, but once she does she becomes an affectionate sweetie who loves pets and attention, and the moment any sort of toy comes out she’ll show a very energetic and playful side. She also likes having her long, beautiful hair brushed, although it’s prone to matting and may require maintenance or even trips to a groomer. Brioche may take some patience and care to overcome her nervous nature, but anyone who does will be well rewarded with a sweet and playful friend. She frequently cuddles with and receives comfort from her foster sister Baguette, and we consider them to be bonded.

Story
Crouton is a 10-year-old cat with a big personality and even bigger boundaries. Rescued south of the city, he endured a rough start—found with a severe, ulcerated mass on his paw due to advanced pillow paw. After surgery and a long healing process, Crouton made a full recovery, regaining not just his health but also his strong-willed spirit. While he once tolerated human touch when he was sick, those days are long gone. Now, Crouton makes it very clear: pets are not on the menu. He’ll happily come down for mealtime, but any attempt to give him affection will earn you a swift smack. However, what he lacks in love for humans, he makes up for in beauty and his adoration of other cats. He’s still energetic and playful despite his age, and he would thrive in a home with a feline friend (or two) to keep him company. Crouton is looking for an adopter who will respect his independence and let him live life on his own terms. If you’re okay with admiring your cat from afar and letting him be his true, untouchable self, Crouton might just be the perfect companion for your other cat! Crouton is 10 years old, neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Given his strong-willed personality, his adoption fee has been waived.

Story
Meet Fafnir. Fafnir is a 7.5-year-old, big, orange fluff ball with a heart as golden as his fur. Once a feral cat roaming the streets of South Oakland, we TNR’d him in 2021 and spent years surviving on his own. But over time, Fafnir’s tough exterior melted away, revealing the sweet and affectionate kitty he truly is. Though he’s still a bit unsure about indoor life, Fafnir adores pets, belly rubs, and being the center of attention when he feels safe. He’s looking for a patient and understanding adopter who will give him the time he needs to adjust. Having a friendly, confident cat or two in his new home would help him feel more secure and show him the ropes of being a pampered indoor kitty. Fafnir is just a big, dopey lovable guy with a soft spot for human touch looking for the perfect indoor home to spend the rest of his life. Fafnir is 7.5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested FIV/FeLV negative.
