When he first arrived at his foster mom's house, he was terrified. But with a little patience and a lot of love, Cardamom has blossomed into a purring machine. Card, on first meeting, can be very shy but as soon as he realizes he is going to be petted, he melts. He keeps his beautiful coat VERY clean and his tail is best described like a feather duster. Card will definitely require time to acclimate in his new home but his new parent(s) will be richly rewarded with a loyal and sweet fur companion!

She was originally rescued with her sister, Pallas. Nova is a friendly girl who loves cuddling up to other cats and is open to pets, but sometimes unsure or doesn’t know how to ask. She loves playing with her foster siblings and with springs and puff balls. She’s not so sure about being held. Nova is super talkative when it comes to dinner time!

The big named shelters no longer do combo testing, so if you have another cat in the home, please consider your local small rescue. You"ll want to look into a combo tested cat-to keep your cat from unknowingly being exposed to a disease. The rescue is on the 2nd & 3rd floors of my big Pittsburgh home (I reside on the 1st floor). Set up an appointment to come and visit by calling or text FAON @ 412-863-0064. I will show you all the cats and then you/yours can go around and visit with them. Once the adults are vetted and tested/vaccinated- we let them free roam. There is a large, outside CAT E O where some enjoy to layout outside. There is also plenty of room inside for a good cat nap .All the cats are SPAYED/NEUTERED, dewormed, given Capstar for fleas, have at least one/two FVRCP vaccines, rabies, ear mite treated (if needed), combo tested for FeLV & FIV, and microchipped. All included in the adoption fee. Be sure to look around, spend time with them. We always have cats in a wide variety of age/personalities. Don't forget to visit the one in the corner, those cats need a chance and will blossom in a calmer environment (and are often the best cats). “Feel their soul” if you would and see if it pairs to yours. If you fall in love here, great. If not, no hard feelings. Most people say it was hard to choose. We changed the cat’s life by rescuing them. Now they need rescued one last time…..could you be that person? We hope so. The cats here were rescued from outside, neglect, poverty, or were left somewhere purposely or just needed to be found. This is really an AMAZING process. Come see why Save Our Strays has adopted out over 1000 cats in 4.5 years. We use some of our profits to TNR (trap, neuter, release) countless strays that are too unsocial for a home but desperately need altered. By spay and neutering them, they can live a healthier life & we help decrease the number of outside domestic cats. Adopting from Save Our Strays helps to support that. A little about me and SOS. I rescue and live with the cats, so I am very familiar with them and their background. I have some amazing women that volunteer here and one main volunteer Ms Chris. We use stainless steel litter pans and bowls, that are disinfected daily. We feed Purina Pro Plan (kitten)and a canned breakfast with a probiotic. If you have done the long cat application and then no one gets back to you, or the cats already adopted by the time they do, then yinz should check us out. We have same day adoptions. I do not have a long application process. I ask that you are allowed to have a cat where you live and are financially able to afford their care. I ask that you not declaw that cat and if they get sick take them to the doctor. Give the cat time to slowly adjust, one last time to their new environment, so it’s a pleasant experience for all.-

Feed them a Churu or two, they love company. CHAMP in a real CHAMP, at 6/7 years old-he lived IDK how long with 47 cats and four adults in a single-wide trailer. Two of the adults worked-but mentally unwell. But still this dude is like BYEEEEEE. He likes being away from that, clean and flea free (instead of care free lol). He is good with the other cats and is inquisitive on what is going on. He is a volunteer favorite. Very outgoing but new to being out of that environment and here. CHAMP would LOVE to find a family or person to love him. He has cute ear wisps and a white spot on his chest. Crouton is a 10-year-old cat with a big personality and even bigger boundaries. Rescued south of the city, he endured a rough start—found with a severe, ulcerated mass on his paw due to advanced pillow paw. After surgery and a long healing process, Crouton made a full recovery, regaining not just his health but also his strong-willed spirit. While he once tolerated human touch when he was sick, those days are long gone. Now, Crouton makes it very clear: pets are not on the menu. He’ll happily come down for mealtime, but any attempt to give him affection will earn you a swift smack. However, what he lacks in love for humans, he makes up for in beauty and his adoration of other cats. He’s still energetic and playful despite his age, and he would thrive in a home with a feline friend (or two) to keep him company. Crouton is looking for an adopter who will respect his independence and let him live life on his own terms. If you’re okay with admiring your cat from afar and letting him be his true, untouchable self, Crouton might just be the perfect companion for your other cat! Crouton is 10 years old, neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Given his strong-willed personality, his adoption fee has been waived.

Meet Lettuce! This fluffy beauty spent the first few months of her life in a colony of 30+ cats in Lincoln-Lemington and is now so very happy to spend the rest of her days indoors. Lettuce is extremely sweet and loves to get chin scritches. She’s an independent little lady and can be difficult to catch, but once she is, she immediately melts into getting pets. While she mostly wants to run wild, when she decides she’s feeling snuggly, she goes out of her way to cozy up to her foster. She might need someone who understands she won’t be a lap cat from day one, but she’s certainly growing into one. Lettuce is utterly obsessed with other cats. She spends every waking minute following around the other cats in her foster home. She loves to play chase, sneak attack around corners, and basically anything she can do to grab their attention. She will absolutely thrive with another young and playful cat or kitten(s) and does need to either be adopted with another kitten or into a home with current cats who will love her attention as much as she’ll want theirs. Lettuce is about 6 months old, spayed, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested FIV/FeLV negative.
