Please complete our online Adoption Application (https://www.saveourstraysinc.com/adopt/adoption-application/). An application is required to move forward with any adoption. NO PHONE CALLS, PLEASE! All Save Our Strays Inc cats have been sterilized, given one distemper vaccine, a rabies vaccine, microchip, and have been tested for FeLV if under 6 months of age and for both FeLV/FIV if older. A contract must be completed prior to any adoption after approval of the adopter by one of our adoption volunteers. There is a screening process so merely wanting to adopt doesn't make someone eligible to adopt. Adoptions are approved at the discretion of the screeners. Please note cats come in and out of foster homes so seeing a cat on this site does not guarantee it will be available when you contact us. Also we do not adopt on a first come first serve basis. The present adoption fee is $125.00 (please note this amount may change without notification). Renters will be asked to provide proof that pets are allowed. Placements are made based on the needs of each cat. ##1982133##

Story
Oreo was born in our home about 9 years ago when my husband and I were in college and had roommates. Our roommates cats had kittens a few times. Oreo is so sweet, but she likes to be left alone and will come to you when she wants love or treats. I always worried she would not find a home if she was taken to a shelter because she is not a cuddly cat, which is why we kept her. In total we have 4 cats from that time with those roommates. Oreo is used to living with other cats, but I think she would prefer to be alone. She also has an allergy/skin condition where she gets occasional flare ups. The vet thinks she has an allergy to fleas and if she gets bit, her body reacts. When this happens she needs to get a steroid injection to help calm her skin. I’m having trouble financially, and now a mom to a baby girl, plus mom of diabetic cat. I think since fleas are the problem, she would do better in a home where she is inside and the other pets are inside to reduce flea risk.
