Story
Hi, I'm Olaf and I'm a cuddly boy. He was found behind a restaurant as a kitten he and some of his litter mates had eye infections, while his eye infection is cleared now it did cause his third eye lid to attach to one of his eyes. This won't cause any long-term issues just makes one of his eyes look a little different! Once this sweet boy gets to know you, he loves to be loved on and is absolutely obsessed with toys. Hes used to other cats and dogs and is also litterbox trained. He has been with us for over a year now and is just looking for a furever family! To meet one of our adoptable pets or to start the adoption process, please access the adoption application on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org or download and email it to crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com. We will then approve you (sending in the application does not obligate you to adopt) and we can set up a time for you to meet one or more of our pets. You can then pay the adoption fee and officially adopt after meeting your new family member. Alternatively, you can do the adoption over the phone before meeting your new pet. The benefit to this is that we will hold the pet for you. However, the adoption fee is non-refundable if you changed your mind after adopting over the phone. Most of our pets are obtained from animal control and therefore we are not certain of their breed or breed mix. We list breed mixes that they most resemble or that their former owners said they were. However, we don't make any guarantees about breed - it is a best guess! Our adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, deworming, vet exam, and up to date vaccines. It also includes microchipping as well as heartworm testing or feline leukemia testing. We are happy to adopt out-of-state (and even out of the country!) but transportation for the adopted pet is the responsibility of the new pet owner. If you cannot adopt a pet at this time but would like to support our rescue, please click on the "Sponsor a Pet" button. Your donation will help feed the dogs, cats, small animals, and horses at CARE. Please email at crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com or call us at (864)972-9906 for more information. This phone number will reach Crossroads Animal Hospital, which is the home of CARE. During business hours, a receptionist will be able to speak with you regarding our adoptable pets. After business hours, the only way to contact CARE is via email. Our puppies and kittens are also eligible for 10% off the rest of the vaccines in their puppy/kitten vaccination series at Crossroads Animal Hospital. Most adult pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Puppies and kittens may have the surgery before adoption or we may have new owners return later for the surgery. For more information about CARE and to see our adoption application, go to our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org

Story
Meet Caroline. Photos cannot capture the beauty of this sweet girl's eyes! You must see her in person! Caroline is one of our sweetest kitties and we just can't believe she hasn't been been adopted yet after over a year in our shelter. She's just over a year now. Caroline grew up in our kitten room but as she grew and more little kittens were added to the room, she retreated to a high post to watch the action. We moved her to the big cat room and she's thriving with the more dignified kitties. She enjoys chasing the laser light and basking in the sun, Caroline does well with other cats, and loves adults and children. She's one of those often overlooked kitties who we really believe will thrive in a new home, either with or without a kitty companion. We all hope someone will take a chance on her soon, no kitty deserves to grow up in a shelter. If you can offer a safe indoor home for Caroline, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org To get to our adoption form, please select "How to Adopt." Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application. . All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
