Story
My name is Richard and I am a gray tabby domestic mediumhair. I am a neutered male and I am 1 year and 2 months old. I was transferred here from another shelter/rescue through the Ames Animal Shelter`s Third Chance program on 03/08/2025. I am a good kitty who uses the litterbox! I am a medium energy cat and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I can be good with men, women, and children. I can be good with other cats and I can be good with dogs. All cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and cats over 6 months of age are tested for heartworms. They are also tested for intestinal parasites and receive routine dewormings. Cats are vaccinated against distemper and rabies, receive a flea preventative, are spayed/neutered before adoption, and have a microchip. Adoption fees include the initial automated registration of the microchip at the time of adoption.

Story
My name is Vapor and I am a gray tabby domestic mediumhair. I am an intact female (I will be spayed before I am adopted) and I am 1 year old. I am a good kitty who uses the litterbox! I am a medium energy cat, and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally sneak out on their way out the door. I can be good with men and women, and staff are still learning how I do with children. Story
Arlo is truly a lap cat at heart. He's incredibly affectionate and makes it clear when he's ready for snuggles by gently placing his front paws on your arm or chest. Once invited, he'll happily curl up in your lap and stay there as long as you'll let him. Friendly and sociable, Arlo loves spending time with anyone who will give him attention. His beautiful medium-length coat is always well-groomed. While he's naturally curious, he can get a bit anxious in unfamiliar surroundings. But with some encouragement and comfort, he quickly finds his confidence and settles in. All cats and kittens come spayed and neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fees are $50.00 for adult cats and $75.00 for kittens under 6 months old at the time of adoption. Our adoptions are done by approved applications, so you must apply and be approved before being able to meet any of our cats or kittens. To be approved, you can apply in person or online at: https://www.storycountyiowa.gov/1486/Adoption-Application Applications can take a few business days to be approved and you will be emailed with communications regarding your application.

Story
This affectionate and quirky guy is sure to bring happiness and laughter to everyone around him. George has a particular fondness for rolling around on the carpet, where you'll often find him stretching and tumbling about in pure feline bliss. This behavior is not just a playtime activity; it's George's way of expressing his happiness and feeling at ease in his environment. One of George's most charming qualities is his affectionate demeanor. He thrives on human interaction and is always eager for pets and cuddles. Adding to his charm, George has a few quirks that never fail to amuse: a small portion of his tongue is almost always sticking out and his version of purring resembles a soft snore. These traits add a unique touch to his already amazing personality. George's love for rolling around, his insatiable need for affection, his ever-present tongue peek, and his unique purring style make him a truly special cat. George brings pure joy into the lives of anyone fortunate enough to know him. George is FIV+, but don't let that stop you from adopting this amazing boy! While cats diagnosed with FIV can have slightly weaker immune systems, many cats do not show any symptoms during their lifetimes and can live normal lives. FIV is not considered contagious and can only be spread through deep flesh bites, making it possible for non-FIV cats to live safely alongside FIV cats as long as no intense fighting occurs. All cats and kittens come spayed and neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fees are $50.00 for adult cats and $75.00 for kittens under 6 months old at the time of adoption.
