Story
Sunny was a stray needing help & TLC. I gained his trust, fed him, & let him sleep in our garage on cold winter nights.I spent many evenings with him in my lap. When he didn’t come by, I’d drive around hoping to find him. When he did return, he was almost always injured from fights. But the vet fixed him up each time & he’d be good as new…until a few months ago.He had a limp & a swollen paw. After many rounds of the best antibiotics & no improvement, we decided to lance the affected area under anesthesia. The vet found nothing but blood & angry, irritated muscles & tissue. After normal xrays, labwork, more meds & time, the vet confirmed he had a sarcoma of the paw.As a last resort, the leg was amputated & he’s been recovering GREAT. He’s a good boy & lives for affection that he went so long without. He may need more enrichment & more patience than your typical house cat as he adjusts to life indoors.Sunny is made for more than the streets! This sassy, snuggly, tripod deserves the world.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. From the foster family: PLATY is a very special kitty. She's actually quite AMAZING. We have fostered many kitties. It is so easy to fall in love and bond with a little kitten. For many it is an automatic response, but to fall in love with a mother presents its challenges. The Mamas are wonderful. Each has their own story, but this Mama has undeniably carved a place in our hearts. She and her babies were malnourished and underweight.  She was nursing 3, six week old babies and only weighed  under 4lbs. One of her legs had been damaged and she was  missing a few nails. She didn't let this stop her from being EXCEPTIONAL. Not only is she a great mother, but she didn't let any of this hold her back in any way. She walks, she runs, she jumps, she plays with her babies. She is so HAPPY. Normally when we first bring home a mama and her babies They're anxious, afraid, timid & very skeptical. Maybe it was their first time to the vets office, their first vaccination, the first time for medication, their first car ride. Maybe even their first time inside. Within the first hour home she jumped on my husband's lap and purred. No other mama that we have brought home has done this in the first hour. She was grateful for a "safe haven". Talk about unconditional love in action: she is so affectionate and personable. She loves sitting on your lap frequently belly up & is very partial to belly rubs and ear scratches.  She follows my husband around like a puppy. My husband was fixing a step inside our house & she sat next to him with her paw on his shoulder guiding the construction. She talks to us and purrs all the time. She loves to be picked up & held. Of all the mama cats that we have fostered she was the fastest and easiest for us to bond with. We were genuinely tempted to keep her but we travel a lot and know that she wouldn't understand long, unexplainable absencees. It will be bittersweet when we need to return her to Safe Haven for adoption but in our hearts we know that this is the right thing to do. She truly is a happy cat. She will bring that happiness to your home and family If you let her. She is exceptional and deserves a wonderful, loving, forever home. May your home and family be as lucky as we were to get to know her and love her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 10, 2026, 4:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Princess is the sweetest cat. She always wants to be near her person and is a total lover! As an older gal, she enjoys long naps and snuggles on the couch.  Princess has a few medical issues to note. She is declawed, FIV+ and is diabetic.  Princess' diabetes is not controlled and she requires insulin twice daily (at appx 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.).  In order to determine the correct amount of insulin to administer, Princess must wear a continuous glucose monitor (as her glucose is not always steady).  In order to help maintain her glucose, she requires a minimum of 2 meals of Friskies pate wet food daily when she gets her insulin.  Princess is not the biggest fan of her continuous glucose monitor, so she wears infant t-shirts to keep them on. Since being in foster care, she has learned to co-exist with another diabetic cat and calm dogs. Please note that it costs around $225/mo to care for Princess (this cost includes glucose monitors, insulin, insulin needles, wet food, dry kibble and cat litter).      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 10, 2026, 4:46 pm

Story
Located in Marion/Cedar Rapids area.Took a new kitten into our home and fostered a litter mate. It has been dewormed, fed to a healthy weight, and loved for the past 2 weeks. Now it's time to find it's forever home! I've been told by many with experience that it appears to be female, but we've not taken to vet yet for shots for confirmation. It's a VERY sweet cat that likes to play, explore, and snuggle in for naps. Good with kids! Our 6- and 3-year-old played with, picked up, and gave this cat lots of attention while here with no issues. Perfectly fine with other cats, we don't have a dog though, so not sure how scared it would be if it saw one. Please reach out if interested!
