Story
Found as a stray, Juno is one we thought that someone would certainly come looking for as he is just such a good boy! Sadly, nobody came forward, so he is now ready for his next adventure in life: Adoption! This friendly guy enjoys lots of good pets and scritches, followed up by a long nap. Juno asks for a home with some specifics in place due to something called FIV. FIV, which stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, is just as it reads. A feline specific virus which causes their immune system to have some deficinies. A cat to cat only virus that is spread through biting, it is something commonly seen among outdoor cats who have potential to infect one another. Just as in people who may have an auto-immune disorder, cats with FIV are more at risk for falling ill or having a tougher recovery if they are exposed to illness such as upper respiratory infections, GI illness, etc. Juno would ask to be the only cat in his future home OR in a home with another cat who is already positive for FIV, as they cannot infect one another. This big hunk of a cat is happy to meet anyone and everyone thus far, come fall in love with this sweet and deserving boy today!

Story
Possum was brought to us as a stray cat that had recently been beat up by some other neighborhood cats. Although it seems Possum has lived a life on the streets, he hasn't let that bring him down and is one of the sweetest cats around! He loves pets and is over all pretty chill.Upon his arrival into care, we received information about him having something called FeLV (which is short for Feline Leukemia Virus). This is something that can be spread exclusively through cats, and is similar to how an auto-immune disease may operate in humans. The transmission can happen through close social contact, such as sharing dishes or a litter box. With that in mind, Possum would need a home as the only cat or in a home with another FeLV+ cat. As it impacts a cat's immune system, cats with FeLV can be effected by common illness' such as a cold or upset tummy a bit harder than your "average cat". Not many shelters or rescues have the means to help these types of furry friends, but we @ CVHS have all the love and care to give pets in need how we can - so come meet this guy for adoption today! Although a diagnosis of FeLV can feel devastating, it is important to realize that cats with FeLV can live mostly normal lives for many years after diagnosis. However, since FeLV can be spread through contact with others, Possum would need to go to a home with other FeLV cats or to a single-cat environment. If you're looking to give an AWESOME cat a loving home for as long as possible, then come meet Possum today! You're bound to fall in love!!!

Story
If you have a working barn or safe protected outbuilding, there are cats who need you! Save a life and adopt a barn cat today!Hundreds of outdoor, un-socialized cats enter our facility every year, these cats will never be able to be adopted as pets. Many of these cats were found as strays, they may be feral, semi-feral, or cats who have other behavior issues that make them "unadoptable" and unsuitable as indoor pets. The CVHS created The Barn Cat program to give these cats a second chance. Without barn adopters, they have nowhere else to go. These cats are healthy, and in return for a safe and comfortable environment, they can become a working cat in your barn! These cats require minimal care and provide a great service as they are a natural deterrent to mice, moles and barn vermin. Cost is donation only, but still includes a standard veterinary exam at time of spay or neuter and age appropriate vaccinations.
