"Some people make the world special just by being in it." - Selffa.com. I'll bet you're a special person, aren't you? I think I'm special too. I'm a cute, lovable seven-year-old black and white kitty boy called Carson. My people named me Bruce, but since being returned to the shelter, I've been called by my original name, Carson. I was an affectionate, energetic kitten. In my home, I liked my alone time, but I enjoyed receiving affection and petting. I really bonded with the disabled adult son in the home. I may have understood him, I guess. See, I'm different from many kitties. I have pica. Some kitties get it (people too). It means that we eat things we shouldn't. In my case, I chew on cloth - blankets, soft toys, and things like that. It can be very dangerous, as I found out the hard way. I get lots of TLC from staff and volunteers here at the shelter! I am always up for playing with them, or on my own. I love playing with water under the faucet! I can play with plastic balls and all sorts of toys that I can't chew or swallow, and I can be comfortable in a space without blankets. I trust that you are loving, smart, creative, and capable of giving me the kind of care that a special boy like me needs. Give me a window where I can watch the birds and squirrels and soak up the sun. Let me soak up your love! I will be a happy Carson boy! Let's share our special lives together!Adoption fee $50 + microchip fee $30 + tax

Story
Razzmatazz. It's a word that means razzle-dazzle. I originally came to the shelter way back in April 2022 as part of the "Crayola" cat group. The Razzmatazz crayon is a bold pink color, not at all like me. I'm a pretty, quiet black female. Cats who come from hoarding situations often have spent little time with people. They may be fearful, and they may hide. They may be fearful of noises, touch, being picked up or held. I was adopted in October of 2022, and by the end of November, I was making some progress. I was still quite shy, but I was accepting petting while I ate, was playing with toys a bit, and was beginning to sleep on the bed. I was not fighting with the other cat in the home. I preferred having my own space, but I had a good appetite and was using the litter box appropriately. However, on January 27, 2024, I was returned. My person stated that I am "antisocial." I don't understand why I'm back here. It's disappointing, but maybe there's a more purrfect home waiting for me. I was named Cookie in my home, and since that was my name for more than a year, that's what I'm used to. I'm not a jazzy cat. I'm a sensitive girl who's looking for someone who will understand my needs and give me space to be myself. I'm a sweet Cookie who wants what every living soul wants - to be safe, cared for, and loved. Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

Story
There's an Irish blessing that goes like this: "May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more, and may nothing but happiness come through your door." I'm a pretty white and grey girl named Ryla, which is a name of Irish origin that means "goddess of heavens." I came to the shelter on Groundhog Day last year! Why am I still here? I'm a lovely, 2-year-old white and grey girl who had been seen hanging around a home in NW Rochester. I'm one of those very shy cats who "doesn't show well." I spend a lot of time on the shelves, but I am making progress! I come down more than I used to and stay down for longer periods. I stick around when staff and volunteers I know are in the room. But I run and climb to safety when strangers arrive. I also run from people who approach me, even when they are familiar to me. I have befriended some of the shy kittens and love cuddling with them. I have become especially close to an older kitten named Lynx. Because I am such a nervous cat, I need to be adopted with my friend Lynx or one of my other pals here at the shelter. Like all the cats here, I deserve a loving, caring home. I deserve security and contentment. As someone who loves cats, you need to be extra patient with me. Please understand that I've been here more than a year, and I've made slow progress. When I go home, I will not change into an outgoing, affectionate cat overnight. Not in a week, or maybe not even in a month or more. Can you be patient? Can you love me as I am? I might surprise you - and myself. It would help me adjust more quickly to a new home if I could be adopted with my friend Lynx. I'm wishing for the luck of the Irish so I can be someone's forever Ryla very soon. Story
Dinah is available for viewing at Chuck and Don's pet store in Barlow Plaza. "In my world, you wouldn't say ‘meow.' You'd say, ‘Yes, miss Alice.'" - Alice to Dinah in "Alice in Wonderland." Dinah was Alice's kitten. What if kitties could talk to humans? We do, actually! Is it our fault if humans don't speak our language? I'm Dinah, a 1½-year-old, orange tabby and white female who was adopted from Paws and Claws in March 2023. Recently, I was found as a stray in Winona, and the Humane Society there contacted Paws and Claws. Another rescue acted as the go-between, and here I am. I'm rather reserved, but I do like petting. I'd love it if you'd scratch my ears and chin. I'm quite playful, too, so I'll know that I've truly arrived in Wonderland when I have fabulous toys to play with and a human(s) to love me, give me chin and ear scratches, and love, love, love me a their darling Dinah girl!Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax
