Story
Daisy is a gentle, quiet, loving older kitty who deserves her very own humans to cherish.  She has been a mother to kittens, adopted and later surrendered by a family due to allergies, adopted again and later surrendered because she became diabetic and she is now back in a foster home with Heartland.  Even though she requires two shots a day, she is the lowest maintenance kitty of all the fosters in the home.   Daisy loves looking out the window observing nature.  She loves having her hair brushed and laying with her foster mom.  She may do best in a quiet home as an only kitty and will give you headbutts to show you her love.  Daisy is currently stable on her daily medicine and is easy to care for. She is spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and FeLV and is current on vaccinations.  If you are looking for a companion who shows unconditional love, Daisy is your girl.      September 22, 2023, 8:43 pm

Story
Annabelle and her brothers, Chucky and Freddy, were living at a feral cat colony in the city.  Our friends with St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach trapped them while doing TNR (trap/neuter/return) on some feral cats and realized that these babies were too young to go back.  Fortunately, one of our awesome rescue friends agreed to take them in and socialize them for us until we had space.  All three kitties are very long and lean and have smooth, sleek coats.  Because they were caught when they were a bit older, they are shy and timid initially and need time to build trust with new people.  Once they get to know you, they are little love bugs and will climb all over your lap and purr as soon as you pet them.  They do startle at loud noises and sudden movement and will hide from people they do not know.  However, they are docile as can be and do not have a mean bone in their bodies.  Annabelle is the most petite of the group and she has the cutest face with big round eyes.  She is the biscuit maker of the group and purrs contently while kneading her blankie when she's really happy.  All three kitties LOVE canned food and will come running as soon as they hear the can open.  They adore other cats and seek comfort from them, so they must not be only kitties in their new homes.  Because they are more timid in nature, they would do best in a quieter home without kids and with patient owners who will give them the time that they need to settle in to their new surroundings and gain confidence.  I promise they are worth it as they truly are sweet, loving and affectionate kitties!  Annabelle is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations and negative for FeLV/FIV; DOB 10/5/18 (tag # 11248JB).September 22, 2023, 8:43 pm

Story
Wilder is a cat that showed up at my home back in the spring. He wouldn't come near me for a while. But now loves to be petted and belly rubs. He also loves my two dogs. I have four cats of my own so I cannot take in another one. A couple of months back he showed up with an abscess on his face and with the help of a rescue he is now all better and neutered! Now I need to find him a forever home.  If you could care for this boy and make Wilder an inside cat, please call Victoria at  (314)740-1680. Thank you for reading about Wilder—he is a wonderful guy, and would do really well as a dog companion. September 21, 2023, 8:56 pm

Story
Sarah came from a terrible hoarding situation in Franklin County. She was born with some eye deformities that mean her eyes water constantly so they need to be wiped often. Sarah is shy and nervous at first but after a short time she will come out of her shell. She does very well around children, cats and dogs. She might prefer a quiet home. She can be very playful at times and loves to cuddle up with her foster dad at night. Sarah is spayed and up to date on her shots. Heartland ID 13001 EG/JB September 22, 2023, 8:43 pm

Story
Balam was picked up at an extremely young age as a stray along with his mama and two other brothers in a rural area of Missouri. They were held in an animal control facility there until a good Samaritan pulled the family from there and asked Heartland to tag the family for rescue. They came into Heartland healthy, but shortly after intake, the kittens started to deteriorate. Mama didn't know how to react, the kittens started losing weight and many tests were run. She lost one kitten before the results came back. After finally getting a diagnosis, treatment was started immediately and the remaining two kittens responded positively and Balam and his brother, Eloy, are now thriving and ready for their own forever homes! Balam is a very quiet, low maintenance kitty with his people. He will come for pets and an occasional lap nap but prefers sleeping on his cat tree. He has never been an only cat so it’s not known how he would do, because he is very playful with his foster siblings. His favorite game is chase and tag!  He will require a family with patience to allow him to warm up at his own pace, but will be rewarded when he comes to you and wants some loving and you hear the pitter patter of him running when he gets the zoomies.  He has lived with a very large dog and is ok with that! Balam is currently on prescription food for his GI tract and is doing great! Balam ("Jaguar" in the Mayan language) is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and is current on age appropriate vaccinations. HHS13374JT  September 22, 2023, 8:43 pm

Story
This beautiful girl is Luna. My niece’s husband found her outside while he was working and brought her home until I could make room for her at my house. Luna is on the shy side and will definitely need a quieter home. She’s very sweet and docile and loves to be petted, but she can spook easily and will hide if she feels the need. She wants to be loved on and enjoys attention, she just isn’t very confident and needs time to build trust with her humans. She loves other cats and seeks comfort from them so she must be in a home with a friendly kitty who can help her feel secure and acclimate. No young children please, and I think dogs would be a little too scary for her. Luna is a very quiet and easy foster and her favorite thing to do is curl up on the window seat and watch the birds outside. She would make a wonderful companion for a single person or couple as long as they are willing to give her time to settle in and feel safe.   Luna is spayed, chipped, current on vaccinations and negative for FeLV/FIV.  DOB 4/1/2021 - tag 13268JB.September 22, 2023, 8:43 pm
