Story
Pratt came to MHS after spending several months as a stray on a local property. Since coming into care, he has settled into our multi-cat space and has shown that he truly enjoys the company of other cats. While he does not need to be adopted with a specific feline friend, he would do well in a home with another cat and could also potentially live with a calm, cat-savvy dog.Pratt is a quiet, reclusive boy who prefers to observe people from a distance rather than seek out attention. He would thrive in a quieter home with older children, as too much noise or activity can be overwhelming for him. With patience, consistency, and gentle socialization, Pratt may continue to gain confidence and become more comfortable around his people, making him a great match for someone who appreciates a more independent, low-key companion.

Story
Ivy came to MHS after the dog in her previous home began to chase her, which caused her to become increasingly fearful and withdrawn. As a result, she started hiding more and stopped interacting as much with her person. Despite this difficult experience, Ivy is a sweet, affectionate, and loving girl who would truly thrive in a dog-free home where she can feel safe and relaxed.Ivy does struggle with transitions and will likely shut down for a few days in a new environment before slowly beginning to come around. She finds comfort in cozy hidey beds and would do best starting out in her own small space with food, water, litter, and a safe hiding spot. A predictable daily routine will help her feel secure and reduce stress. Ivy would likely do well with other cats—especially a confident, feline-friendly companion—and with older children, as long as introductions are slow and respectful. With patience and time to settle in at her own pace, Ivy has the potential to become a devoted and affectionate companion.

Story
Meet Mason, a shy but very handsome boy named after the town where his journey began. Mason came to MHS as a local stray and, despite our best efforts to find his people, no one has come forward—so now he’s looking for a home that appreciates a quieter kind of companionship. Mason is a sensitive soul who is still pretty skittish in new situations and will likely always be a bit of a “spirit cat,” preferring to observe the world from a safe distance rather than being right in the middle of the action. The good news? He’s never been aggressive—just cautious—and with time, patience, and respect for his boundaries, he may slowly build trust at his own pace.Mason would do best in a calm home that understands he may always be more of a roommate than a lap cat, and that’s okay. He would likely enjoy having a friendly feline companion, which could help boost his confidence, and may do fine with older kids or cat-savvy dogs with slow introductions. Starting out in a small, quiet space with all his essentials and a cozy hiding spot will help him decompress and feel secure. Mason is the perfect match for someone who believes love doesn’t have to be loud—and who finds joy in earning the trust of a gentle, watchful friend.

Story
Ava came to us with two other cats—a male and another female—who she had lived with for quite some time. Their owners were experiencing hard times and made the selfless decision to bring them here so they could have a better chance at finding loving homes. Ava is a very sweet girl, but she is extremely shy and timid. Her previous owner shared that she tended to hide and was not one to seek out much interaction, and we have seen similar behavior here, which is understandable given how stressful the shelter environment can be for a sensitive cat like her.In a calm, quiet home, Ava would likely feel much more comfortable and begin to show her affectionate side. She would do best in a low-energy household with older children and would enjoy having a feline companion, though one or two other cats would be ideal. She has never lived with dogs, but a friendly, calm dog could be considered with slow introductions. With patience and time to decompress, Ava has the potential to blossom into a loving, snuggly companion who bonds closely with her person.

Story
Nilly is a quiet, reserved girl who’s still learning that people can be kind and gentle. She came to MHS after not getting along with other cats in her previous home, and while she’s still quite shy and undersocialized, we believe there’s potential for her to slowly come out of her shell with the right person. Nilly will likely always be more of an independent “spirit cat” — one who enjoys her space and may show love in subtle, quiet ways. She’ll need a calm, patient home with no other cats (though a respectful, cat-savvy dog may be okay) and older kids who understand boundaries. Starting her off in a small, quiet room with cozy hiding spots will help her feel safe as she adjusts. Nilly has had a tough start, but with kindness, consistency, and time, she just might surprise you with how much she opens up — one gentle pawstep at a time.

Story
Bella came to us alongside her sister Ava and a male cat she has lived with for quite some time. Their family was facing difficult circumstances and made the loving decision to bring them here so they could have the opportunity to find safe, happy homes. Like her sister, Bella is a very sweet girl but is extremely shy and timid. She tends to keep to herself and can be easily overwhelmed in a busy environment, which is understandable given the stress of the shelter setting. In a quiet, low-energy home, Bella would likely feel much more at ease and begin to come out of her shell. She would do best with patient adopters who are willing to give her time to decompress and build trust at her own pace. Bella would enjoy having a feline companion, though a small number of other cats would be ideal, and older children are recommended. She has not lived with dogs, but a calm, cat-friendly dog could be considered with slow introductions. With time and understanding, Bella has the potential to blossom into a gentle, affectionate companion who forms a deep bond with her person.
