Story
Russell was surrendered to us. Russell is a low-key guy, he enjoys having his wet food every morning and finding a warm bed to lay on afterwards. Russell did have majority of his teeth pulled so wet food is essential to him and due to old age, Russell can't see very well so unhooded litter boxes and smaller areas for him to lounge and explore are a must.

Story
Romeo and Julietta are siblings and are a bonded pair. They were found in the parking lot of Starbucks in October and were trapped and neutered, but we didnt have the heart to put them back outside for a long cold winter ahead. We decided we would foster them and try and socialize them but I knew I couldnt keep them. They have been in our heated garage and they are being well taken care of. We know they are ready for a home environment and would love to find them their furever home together. Romeo likes the attention and is more outgoing than his sister but she relies on him to feel more comfortable around people. She is very sweet. They have both come a long way since we have had them and are around a year old now. They love to get treats, play with their toys and love to sit in the sun and look out the window and watch the world go by.If you are able and willing to open your heart and your home and take in Romeo and Juliet it is imperative they remain together. One would be lost without the other. Please know that you will need a gentle voice, a gentle touch and a bit of patience so that Romeo and Juliet can build their trust and love for their new family. They have comforted each other through thick and thin and have been so grateful not to wonder each day where they will sleep or get their next meal. Once they feel comfortable, they will give you hours of unconditional love. They will show how much they appreciate the opportunity to have a forever family each time you are close to them and you hear them purr!Thank you for considering adopting this precious pair.

Story
Bunnie is a fighter and an incredibly special cat. He was found living in a construction site. One day he decided to ask for help from one of the colony feeders in the area. He sat underneath a mailbox crying for days. We were able to take him into foster care and realized something was wrong. He was eating and eating and eating and not growing. And then his breathing became laborious. He was originally diagnosed with FIP, a fatal disease (although treatable through black market drugs). Two vets told us to euthanize. We started to treat for FIP but that diagnosis just didn’t sit right. Kittens dying from FIP don’t eat! And he was eating. And because he was eating, we knew he wanted to live. Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge stepped up to get him an emergency appointment at Oradell Animal Hospital. It was quickly discovered that he did not have FIP but his diaphragm was herniated and his intestines were pushing up against his lungs. No wonder he was having a hard time breathing! He recovered from his surgery very well. He gained all the weight he needed to gain. He was neutered and now he’s ready for his own furrever home. Bunnie is a fighter and a very special cat. He’s about 8 months old now. Shy at first, he quickly warms up to you. His fosters call him the “best cat ever.” He needs a home with another cat buddy. Bunnie is neutered, FeLV/FIV negative and updated on vaccines. He has no health issues now! To apply for this special Bunnie, visit gratefulpawsnj.com/adopt

Macon and Ginger traveled the furthest any of our kitties ever have to come into rescue. These two brothers were found by one of our fosters in St Thomas. She wouldn’t rest until she got them rescued. And she was successful! The Humane Society of St Thomas trapped them, vetted them and got them on a plane to Newark. These boys are a little less than a year old and have done so well in foster care. They are great kitties who would make your home complete. They are bonded and must be adopted together. They get along with other kitties - have not been dog tested. Apply at gratefulpawsnj.com/adopt

Maggie

Domestic Shorthair

Female, 3 yrs 2 mos
Lincoln Park, NJ

Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
After battling the harsh outdoor conditions and years of having litter after litter Maggie is looking for her second chance at life. She is a 3-5 year old tortie- spayed and FIV/FELV negative. As a former community cat at an apartment complex Maggie was trapped while pregnant and allowed to give birth inside. She was a great mom to the litter we raised together, and now that her kittens have all been adopted she is looking for her forever home. Maggie is very shy with new people, but with time and the right situation she will flourish into the friendly girl that she is. An ideal situation would be a quiet, patient home with another friendly cat (she is extremely social and loves other cats) that will give her the time and space she needs. Maggie would prefer someone who is familiar with “tortitude” as sometimes she has a bit of sass. She loves sparkly balls, yeowww catnip toys, sisal scratchers and temptations treats.
