Story
Pancake was rescued from Animal Care and Control. She was originally found trying to hide in a candy cart outside of a train station. Pancake allowed her finder to pick her up, put her into a carrier, and take her to Animal Care and Control where she almost lost her life. Pancake is energetic, curious, and very playful; she may be an adult cat but she has the heart of a kitten! She starts chirping at playtime and doing a sideways dance! Wand toys are her favorite, and she will jump up high to catch the toy - the higher you direct it, the better! She also LOVES eating and will be your best friend if you give her seconds! She would love to find a home with a patient and caring guardian who will play with her and allow her to take things at her own pace. Pancake would prefer not to share this special human with any other animals, particularly dogs. She is still undecided about cats, but thinks she could make an exception for a really laid-back cat companion who keeps their paws to themselves. Pancake is approximately 5 years old, spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped. Story
Starlet is a sweet young lady who was abandoned by her former guardian. Thanks to Empty Cages Collective, she made it out of the kill shelter alive, and she's now safe, cared for, and awaiting her forever human to adopt her. She is initially shy when meeting new people, but within minutes will open up, and throw herself all over the new friend. She is affectionate, hungry for love, and will make someone's life complete. After meeting this little enchantresses you will forever wonder how you carried on with your life without Miss Starlet in it! Starlet gets along with other cats, but may be a bit intimidated by large dogs and small children. She would do best in a quiet home, with an affectionate guardian who is ready and willing to curl up for hours with a good book, or a long movie. Starlet dreams of a home where she can get all the kisses she was previously denied, and live with a friend who understands just how important snuggle time is. Starlet is about 5 years old, spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, and has tested negative for both FeLV, and FIV.  If you are interested in giving this gentle soul a home and a family, get in touch with Empty Cages Collective. Story
Felix is a young adult cat who was rescued from the Brooklyn streets. Probably dumped after being someone’s companion, Felix was hungry, friendly, and not thriving outside. Thankfully, he found a family who, despite being allergic to cats, cared enough to feed him until they gained his trust and he became a regular in their backyard, and to take him to the vet to be evaluated, checked for a microchip, and treated for parasites. Fearing for Felix’s life and well-being due to hostile neighbors, this family reached out to us for help. Given this family’s commitment to helping young and unneutered Felix, and since a cat had been adopted from Empty Cages just 2 days before, we agreed to take him in as a spot opened at one of our foster homes. Felix is now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV and FeLV, healthy, and ready for his new life to begin! He enjoys the company of people and other cats, though he is not a fan of dogs. Felix is shy at first but friendly and trusting once he feels safe. This boy is a lover, and he knows how to turn up the purring at the right time, and to greet his foster mom with sweet meows that make him sound like a kitten. He would love to find a family to give him all the love and affection that he's been missing, but also to play with and provide endless hours of mental stimulation.
