Story
Peridot (aka Dottie) is an affectionate and mellow, senior, dilute tortie. Her favorite things are mealtime and lap-time. She has a very unique little voice which is more of a squawk than a meow! She currently lives happily with two large dogs who are gentle and deferential with her (though she needed a little time to feel comfortable around them). She really isn't picky about anything; from food to litter, she takes it all in stride. Dottie has been diagnosed with diabetes, and it is well managed with a prescription diet and daily insulin injections. She is very cooperative for her injections and doesn't make a fuss! She's such a joy to have around. Peridot is currently living in a foster home with her Adoption Ambassador! For more info or to schedule a showing, please email Colyn at nylok76@gmail.com, or text 801-815-0159. She's such a great cat, and we know her special person is out there!

Story
Hello all my name is Haywood.  I am a very shy and scaredy cat when I first meet new humans, you see that is just who I am and I am learning. I will need a home that has at least one other kitty who can be my friend, like the one I have now in my foster home, to teach me about their humans and how to be a kitty in their house.  I do not like to be locked in a kennel at all and if I am please do not just reach inside to try to get me out it scares me and I am after all a cat and might think you are trying to hurt me.   I will require a quiet spot that is contained (but please not a kennel) where I can get used to new people, sounds and such.  A bathroom would work, even a small one.My foster family had to just sit in the area with me and talk to me.  They didn’t make any sudden movements or loud noises and allowed me to explore them.  Now when they call me I come running and rubbing on their legs and wanting to be petted.  I am still afraid of the vacuum monster and loud noises but I am learning from my foster sister, Mavis, on how to be ok with the noises.  I have been introduced to the little humans and love them but they are older and have been around scaredy cats before and know how to earn my trust.  I have already had one very traumatic experience with one person and they scared me.  So all of my meet and greets have to be at my foster home and you will need  to maybe spend some time allowing me to get to know you and you to get to know me.  That way when I get to go home with you you will already have an amazing understanding of me and hopefully will be able to love me as much as I know I could love you back.  Have experience with kitties who NEED time to adjust in a new home, may hide when new people come in the house but will hug you and love you once they know they ae safe and loved?  This boy loves his people but he needs a very experienced cat owner that has dealt with semi-feral cats and knows how to pace themselves with him and not force themselves on him.  He loves other cats and is fine with politie dogs.  He would be approved for a barn cat home with the appropriate managed adjustment period. Look at that hug!  Haywood just wants to be loved, and he just needs a little patience to make you his forever person!!!!  LONG STAY REDUCED ADOPTION FEE of $50! Our adoption events are too overwhelming for Haywood so apply to adopt Haywood to schedule a meet and greet with this boy in his foster home.  He will need a patient adopter who will work with him to come out of his shell in a quiet environment. All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, given a few rounds of dewormer and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Story
At 3 years old, this beautiful, regal, dilute tortie girl was returned to our care from a home that had other senior cats she did not get along with.  She was adopted as a kitten. As the only cat in her foster home, a requirement for her forever home, she can best be described as a sweet, gentle soul. After 2 weeks in her foster home, it has been wonderful to see how she settles in.  She is now enjoying the sun in the window, a soft bed, etc.  She’s demonstrated her playful and loving sides, and we’re seeing more of her sweet personality coming out every day. When she’s feeling energetic, she likes to play with a wand toy and cat dancer wire toy. She purrs a lot and loves to be pet and brushed. This sweet girl will be so happy to find her quiet, gentle person to give her all the love and attention she deserves. She has not lived with dogs.  Cassie will be waiting to meet you at The Thrift Hound seven days a week.  All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. Story
Ocatavia is a sweet little mama who loves pets and treats but starts out really shy and is frightened about change so it takes her some time to really settle in.  She needs a minute (or a bit more) to realize she can trust you, but once she does, she gives thanks with love and purrs.  She doesn't love to be picked up.  She would prefer her pets beside you or to decide when she is ready for a lap. Octavia has been such a good mama to her 6 babies but now she is ready for a quiet home of her own where she can relax and be loved. Octavia is waiting to meet you in her foster home where she feels safe.  Apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet.  All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. Story
This sweet little girl loves affection and will follow you around for your attention. She loves to be scratched behind her ears and purrs when you love on her. She and her brother were living with an elderly woman that can no longer care for them. They liked to go outside during the day and then cuddle inside at night. They lived in a very rural area with plenty of room to run around and hunt mice in the field, so outdoor city life may not be the best environment for them. They have been together since birth so the ideal home would be able to accommodate both of them. They are about 4 years old and both have been spayed/neutered. They are currently nestled inside my garage, due to allergies in my home. With the warmer days approaching, I am desperately seeking a loving home for them.

This sweet little boy is timid at first but warms up to you quickly. He likes to play with a long rope and will bat at it if you hold it above him. He loves to be scratched and will purr when he's content with affection. He and his sister were living with an elderly woman that can no longer care for them.
