Story
Here is what my foster had to say: "Lincoln has been in foster for 3 weeks. Lincoln is an old soul who loves attention and rubbing on you. At times he will put his paws around your neck to hug you. He plays a bit with his string toy but seems to like hanging out in the sun much more. A cat after my own heart! Lincoln does love his scratch box as any good cat should. Lincoln has "mitten " paws as he is a polydactyl which makes him even more unique. Lincoln will love a home where he can have lots of attention and calm. He will provide his new owner with lots of love in return.'' Lincoln is vacationing in a foster home! To learn more about him and schedule a meet-and-greet, email his foster at palmercat91@gmail.com

Story
Ocatavia is a sweet and independent little mama who loves pets and treats but starts out really shy and is frightened about change so it takes her some time to really settle in.  She needs a minute (or a bit more) to realize she can trust you, but once she does, she gives thanks with love and purrs.  She doesn't love to be picked up but she will tolerate it.  She would prefer her pets beside you or to decide when she is ready for a lap. Octavia is ready for a quiet home of her own where she can relax and be loved. Octavia is waiting to meet you in her foster home where she feels safe.  She adjusted easily to both her foster's cats and dogs.  She doesn't really interact with them but she is not aggressive to them at all and doesn't go out of her way to avoid them.  She routinely traverses the areas frequented by the other pets without an issue, even bypassing a baby gate to enter the area of the home where the dogs are.  Apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet.  Octavia doesn't do well in the store locations as they are pretty stressful to her so it would be great for her potential adopter to meet her in her foster home.  All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact bcmcintire50@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet.Meet Tony, a handsome, social, talkative lap kitty.   If you are looking for a great companion, Tony's your guy. This marks a fresh beginning for Tony. Rescued from a feral cat colony, where volunteers suspected he was abandoned, Tony has proven himself to be far from feral. Despite the challenges of outdoor living, he has gracefully adapted to house life. Tony now enjoys the company of his humans and loves spending time on their laps. He is also quite playful and loves his catnip.  He shows no signs of wanting to return to outdoor living, though he does enjoy looking out the window, curious about the antics of squirrels and birds. Tony can be quite talkative and will carry on a conversation with you and will show off his trills and many different vocal capabilities.Tony is about 2 years old, uses a litter box, is neutered, and is up to date on all his shots. Tony has tested positive for FeLV.  This is a common disease for cats, and many with this disease can live normal lives.  We are looking for an adopter with a big heart who is somewhat cat-savvy and can provide Tony with a loving, stress-free, indoor home environment. We are happy to meet potential adopters and introduce you to Tony.  If interested please contact me at bcmcintire50@gmail.com.   All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Story
SPECIAL NEEDS: FeLV+. Looking for a sweet, playful, friendly cat? Herkimer is your guy! This little fellow loves to hang out with people -- greets you at the door, and sits in your lap or beside you, and purrs the moment you pet him. He is friendly with guests too. Likes to get at least one good play session in per day. We don’t really know his full back story as he showed up at an office one morning, rubbing up against everyone in his path. But he needed some medical attention and nourishment at that point, which he received. We cleaned him up, fixed his eyes (surgery for entropion), and he is picking up weight very nicely. Although he is FeLV+, he is otherwise healthy and full of energy and ready for his forever family. It should be a home with no other cats or cats that are FeLV+ as FeLV is contagious (but not to dogs or humans). He could live a long, healthy life, or he could pass at a younger age because he has a compromised immune system (should be indoors only). But he still deserves love and will return it multiplied.Like all our cats, he is neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.    Meet Herkimer by completing an adoption application,  He is currently hanging out in a foster home getting a break from a cage.   All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Story
Bly is a shy boy that enjoys being pet and is an expert cuddler once he knows you a bit.  He hasn't had a lot of being picked up and carried around so he still gets a bit stiff when you reach to pick him up.  He loves to play with toys and has had to entertain himself for some time since he was sick and quarantined from other pets.  He arrived to us sick, as do many, and it really took him awhile to shake it.  He will thrive in a quiet home that doesn't have too much commotion where he can have the time it takes to feel safe and comfortable. Bly has had ongoing URI (upper respiratory symptoms) that can flare up when he is stressed so his adopter will need to understand that and be prepared for more frequent vet visits and to do the things needed to keep his environment low stress and controlled.  His symptoms have been very mild the last month or so with only occassional minor, short-lived flare ups.  Meet Bly by completing the adoption application and a meet and greet can be scheduled.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Bonded sisters. They were part of a 5 kitten litter. My ex’s cat birthed them and I was left to find them homes. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with them in addition to my own pets. Fran (gray) and Toro (yellow collar) were born March 1, 2024 and are very playful and inquisitive. They love to play with toys and give snuggles and sleep next to you at night. If you’re looking for a loving little companion then these are your girls!

Story
Tobi is genuinely the sweetest most loving cat i’ve ever met. He is 100% the perfect family cat. He isn’t a big cuddler, but he will sleep on the end of your bed or on your chest if it’s cold. He is so extremely docile and friendly. He rubs up on anyone and everyone he meets. He has no issues being picked up or hugged. He has never bitten or scratched anyone. Tobi is an energetic cat. He loves to be played with. He is a potential great fit for another rowdy cat that can’t get enough of play time. He does not get along with some cats, because he is relentless with his playfulness. However, he would make a good fit for a small dog or another cat that has the same amount of energy as him. When he’s not being played with, he entertains himself by watching birds and bugs from windows. He’s so goofy and has such a lovable personality, sadly I don’t have the time or energy to play with him as much as he needs. doesnt bite/scratch. doesn’t claw at furniture. always goes in litter box.

Story
Misty is about a year old and she was adopted from Furever Friends. She’s very sweet, playful, outgoing, and a little sassy. She loves playing with our male cat who is around her age, and she loved playing with our kitten who is about 3 months old. She is not so keen on female cats and can be a little territorial. She definitely needs a playmate and a home where she’s the main girl.
