*PLEASE NOTE: Tangerine & Cremepuff are not with our rescue, we are just posting them as a courtesy for the caregiver who rescues cats independently. If you are interested in adopting we will have you fill out an application which will help the caregiver choose the best fit/home for them. The caregiver will handle the adoption & there will be no contract required between us & whoever adopts these bonded boys* These bonded boys were rescued by their caregiver from the property of an apartment complex where the manager, nor some of the tenants didn't want them around. The boys are young (around 1 year give or take) & playful & were always seen together side by side when they were living outside. They should get the chance to life a long, safe & healthy life spoiled indoors!

Story
Bust body Dottie is what we call her. Dottie was found by an independent rescuer who feeds stray cat colonies around the Charlotte area. She noticed Dottie had a head tilt & over time it seemed to get worse. Most recently, Dottie seemed disoriented & a bit wobbly. This condition no doubt would compromise her ability to run or get out of danger's way, so this caregiver pulled Dottie off the streets. She reached out for help with getting Dottie seen by a vet & that is where we stepped in. After a couple of vet visits Dottie just seemed to continue to decline, so she saw a neurologist & an MRI was performed to see if they could find a reason for her compromised coordination. Diagnosis is: "Bilateral severe otitis media/interna with intracranial extension on right side (otogenic meningoencephalitis)" - Bilateral Vestibular Disease In short, she currently had a deep infection in both inner & middle ears which has spread to the right side of her brain. The neurologist says oftentimes this can be resolved with a long course (2 months) of steroids & antibiotics, so she is on prednisolone & a different antibiotic. Her rescuer/foster mom has seen improvement so far, so we're hopeful Dottie can fully recover, although her slight head tilt may remain. Because of Dottie's specialness, we'd love to help her rescuer/foster find her a very special adopter. We're sure Dottie would prefer a quiet home with someone who maybe works from home or is home a lot. She seems to be easily intimidated by other cats & gets overstimulated, so she might do best if she could be your one & only. She may not be a lap cat ir care to be handled (this could change with time), but she likes to be near her person & she's playful & sweet on her terms. If this little spitfire seems like she'll fit right into your home, please reach out to us.

Meet Toots & Jackie! Jackie is a year and a half old old & Toots is a year old. These special kitties have been brightening our days for a while now and I can't say enough about how funny, silly, goofy, and lovable they are. They have such cool personalities! Jackie will follow you around and wants to be a part of everything you're doing - she's just making sure you're okay and don't need her help with anything. She also has a lot to say and will chat you up whenever you have time to talk. Toots is a mellow cool cat. He has the loudest purr motor you've ever heard and turns into jello when napping in your lap. He frequently slides off onto the floor and just keeps sleeping wherever he lands. They play all day - wrestling, toy mouse hunting, chasing each other around, and then crash in a puddle of cuteness somewhere for a mutually decided upon nap. They are great with their litter box, polite and patient at mealtimes, use their scratching posts, and are great houseguests. Any family who gives these two a forever home will be blessed with these two! Please fill out the adoption application on our website www.hsuc.org.

Story
Sweet Holly was found in a yard with other strays & she was not doing well. The person who fed the group reached out for help because Holly had lost a lot of weight & had become wobbly & just didn't look good. She was about 6 months at that time. A group of ladies saw the social media plea & came together to work out a plan to rescue Holly & get her the help she needed. It turned out that she had bad infections in both ears & her ear drums were ruptured. On top of that she was diagnosed with FIP. Thankfully there's a treatment for that now available in the U.S. & Holly was started on it. After a few doses the foster mom could finally start to see improvement in Holly. She completed the 84 days of medication & is now in the observation period (another 84 days). If her bloodwork & all looks good at that time Holly will be considered cured of FIP. At her recent checkup the vet found that Holly had a polyp in her right ear that will need to be removed. If it's not, she'll continue getting ear infections & the polyp will only grow bigger. A consultation is scheduled for May 5th. Needless to say, Holly deserves a very special adopter. She seems to get along well with the cats in her foster home so chances are favorable she'll do well with another cat or two with slow & proper introductions. If Holly seems like she'll fit right into your home, please reach out to us.
