Story
Please visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com for more info and to apply to adopt. This sweet old man was found as a stray in October, but no one claimed him. He was brought to Hamilton Animal Services, and because he is such a snugglebum, they got him ready to be adopted out. During routine medical exams, a lump was found in his neck and it was discovered that he had hyperthyroidism. This, along with being FIV positive, meant he was off the shelter’s adoption list. Because Hamilton Animal Services is overrun with so many cats right now, this, heartbreakingly, meant Arthur was put on the euthanasia list. Thankfully Ladybird were able to scoop up Arthur with literally with days to spare. This guy is absolute delight. In the mornings he yells until he gets cuddles and only then will he eat his breakfast. His favourite place is snugged up right beside his person, even if there really isn’t space for him. He will grumble if you disturb his nap or dare to move while he is relaxing beside you. In November, he had his thyroid removed, and we are happy to say he is doing much better. A post surgery test showed that his bloodwork was still at the right level, so he was taken off his thyroid medication. Since then, he has become much more active. He is a fan of anything he can chase or catch. His most recent checkup showed that his blood levels are still good, so he could finally stop getting thyroid food as well (which is good cause he does NOT like it). Arthur has not met any dogs or cats since coming into Ladybird’s care. He is FIV positive, so though not necessary, a household as the only cat would be best. He is a shy guy – he will hide if any visitors arrive. Arthur’s story highlights why it is important to adopt, not shop. Adopt from a shelter so they have space for more animals and don’t have to euthanize due to overcrowding. Adopt from a rescue, so they, in turn, can rescue more animals. Every person who has adopted from Ladybird has allowed another animal to be rescued and given another chance. If you can’t adopt, think about fostering. If you can’t foster, donate to Ladybird and other rescues. This allows more animals like Arthur to be saved! Please adopt Arthur! Visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com for more info and to apply to adopt. Adoption fee is $200

Story
In October, Hitch came to us with a severely injured leg. In November, Tuesday came to us with a degloved tail and injured leg. Hitch’s leg has healed wonderfully. Tuesday’s tail had to be amputated, but she has made a fantastic recovery. They were both in the same foster home, but they had been kept separate until our vet gave the go-ahead to introduce them. It was an almost immediate bond when they met and they've been inseparable ever since. Tuesday and Hitch are now ready to find their forever home! Both cats are healthy, happy, and healed from their surgeries. Because of Hitch’s healed leg injury, adopters should be prepared for him to possibly suffer from arthritis in adulthood, but it’s not an immediate concern. Here’s a note from their foster family: “A great duo, Hitch & Tuesday are the perfect pair. They get along great with each other and with our other cats. Hitch has a full battery that drains quickly. He loves to play hard before settling in for long nap – ideally under a mountain of blankets. This cuddly guy will let you know when he’s ready to be picked up to sit on your lap. He’s not shy about getting your attention. Tuesday offsets Hitch’s energy slightly. She prefers to start her day playing with Hitch before finding a nice nap spot. She loves her food and is always curious what’s cooking in the kitchen. Hitch can get a bit growly when it comes to his food, but he doesn’t lash out or get aggressive. Thankfully, Tuesday isn’t phased by this one bit. These two will be hard to say goodbye to. They’re going to be making someone very happy.” Please adopt Tuesday and Hitch! ❤️ See their full rescue stories and apply to adopt at their profile pages: 🐾Tuesday: ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com/las1604/ 🐾 Hitch: ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com/las1591/ Adoption fee for the pair is $350

Story
Please visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com for more info and to apply to adopt. Katsura! AGE AT ARRIVAL: Approximately 10 years old ARRIVAL DATE: October 14th, 2023 GENDER: Spayed Female ADOPTION FEE: $200 Katsura ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. She is microchipped, but the chip was not traceable. This is your reminder to keep your pet’s microchip info up to date with the chip company! If you move or change your phone number without letting the company know, they won’t be able to contact you if your pet is lost or stolen. When Katsura arrived at the shelter, her ears were full of debris and they were very itchy. Her abdomen was distended, and her spine was prominent. Because of the overwhelming number of cats currently at Hamilton Animal Services, Katsura ended up on the euthanasia list because of her age and possible health issues. We were happy to get Katsura out of the shelter when HAS staff reached out to let us know her life was in danger. Thankfully, we had a foster home open up just at the right time, and they love fostering senior cats! Win win! Over the next few months, Katsura had many vet visits and was eventually diagnosed with calicivirus and mycoplasma it took a long time to get her healthy enough to be made available for adoption, but she’s ready! Because the possibility of future flare ups of the calicivirus and mycoplasma, Katsura should be the only cat in the home. Here’s a note from her foster family. “Katsura has to be the cuddliest cat that we have ever fostered. She is constantly on our laps, snuggling in our beds or can be found nestled in some blankets or clean laundry. She has a fantastic purr and will roll with you while sleeping- she doesn’t care if you roll over, she will just re-situate herself. Katsura has a fantastic purr and when she is really in a happy place, she definitely drools a little bit. Katsura is also a fantastic alarm cat. She knows exactly when it’s feeding time and will let you know when you are 30 seconds late with the cutest little me-ow. She adores her food and treats. Katsura contracted calicivirus and mycoplasma during her stay at animal services. These both will be a part of her life and she might have some flair ups during moments of stress and will have to go on antibiotics to make sure it doesn’t end with a sinus (and connecting ear) infection. Katsura’s ears were a mess when she first arrived at Ladybird and they tend to be a sensitive part for scratches so the we have learned to avoid scratching her ears unless Katsura lets them know its ok. Katsura has a fantastic warning growl before she swipes and now that her ears are cleaned up and not bothering her, those growls are few and far in between. Katsura is being fostered with a pupper who adores cats. She has no problem letting the dog know that she is the boss and to back off when he is getting too excited and it fine with ignoring him completely when just living together. We definitely have come across Katsura and the dog sleeping together on the couch. Although Katsura is estimated to be about 10 years old, she has bursts of energy and loves chasing toys around the house and attacking the feather duster. She also gets the cutest zoomies when it’s dinner time and will run around the house to get your attention that it’s time to eat.” Please adopt Katsura! 🖤PRINCE🖤 Male | 3Y | 5.5 KG | Domestic Short Hair | Neutered | UTD on shots | Crate Trained | Untested with dogs | Not kid tested | Currently taking gabapentin | Fostered in Hamilton This royal cat is looking for his forever home! Prince is a social and playful cat, with lots of energy to spare. And what better way to burn off all that energy than zoomies up and down the stairs? Prince can be quite nervous when meeting people for the first time, but he's so sweet once he's settled. He loves head kisses and being picked up once you've gained his trust. Prince loves catnip toys and watching the traffic go by from his cat tree. As Prince can be reactive in stressful situations, his fosters have used a crate as his safe space. Currently, he will spend nights in his crate and needs it to calm down when overstimulated. During the day, Prince will spend time both in and out of his crate, depending on how he's feeling. He loves lounging at feather toys from his hiding spots and chasing crumpled paper balls. When Prince gets stressed out, in situations with prolonged eye contact or unexpected noises, he can become terrified and try to protect himself. It's important to recognize how Prince is feeling and encourage him to go into his crate before episodes to help him calm down. An ideal day for Prince would be spent lounging by a window and not being bothered by humans unless he chooses to bother you! He would do best with a cat friend around his age with a similar rough play style to run and wrestle with. Prince is looking for a family willing to dedicate time to gain his trust. He is so intelligent and affectionate. Even though he can be anxious, it's very clear that all he truly wants is love and someone to build trust with! Story
Miss Jenkins is a domestic shorthair black female who is 9 months old. She is currently at PetSmart. She previously was in foster care with Oliver. Meet Miss Jenkins, a young feline with a heart full of affection. Her sweet and friendly demeanour is sure to win over anyone who crosses her path. Miss Jenkins is also playful and smart, making her an entertaining companion. Despite her independent streak, she enjoys seeking out attention and love from those around her. However, she prefers to keep her paws on the ground and isn't too fond of being picked up just yet. Miss Jenkins can be a little shy, but once she warms up to you, her love is endless. Miss Jenkins would make a wonderful addition to any home, offering both companionship and a unique personality. Her blend of playful energy and loving nature makes her the perfect pet to bring joy and happiness into your life. Miss Jenkins came to us with an eye infection and upon treatment, the vet has noted she does have one eye that is smaller than the other which just makes her extra cute. She has been treated for her eye infection and cleared by her veterinary team however, she does have a weepy eye at times, especially if she is feeling stressed. Hey eye should not cause any issues long term but we want to make sure her new family understands her special quirk. Miss Jenkins is spayed, microchipped and is fully vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies. She is FIV negative and FeLV negative. Adoption fee is $300. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Poptart is a black and white domestic shorthair male who is approximately 3 years old. He is currently in foster care. Poptart originated from an abusive home where he was found tethered to his litter box with a very short lead. His spirit is like no other, and he is the most loyal cat once he's bonded to his people. Poptart is the most fun loving and playful boy. Once he warms up to his new surroundings, he will come and curl up in your lap and ask for lots of head and ear scratches. He has a huge personality and lots of energy, you'll often find him zooming around when he is excited! He loves playing with other cats and would likely do well in a home with another cat where they can play to their heart's content. At the end of the day, Poptart loves nothing more than to snuggle up with his person. If you are looking to add a handsome, playful, affectionate cat to your family, Poptart is your boy! Poptart was previously adopted to a home where he was the only cat, and his adopter worked outside the home for 8 hours a day. After a month in his new home, it was very apparent that through no fault of his adopter or Poptart that he needed a home where someone was home the majority of the day. Poptart was returned into our care to find such a home. Poptart bonds fiercely to his person and sometimes will go on a "hunger strike " protest at his person leaving for too long. In these situations, he needs to be hand fed and given extra loving. His intense love is like no other. Before Poptart came into DRK's care, he had entropion surgery and is fully recovered.. Entropion surgery is when the eyelid rolls inward and the fur contacts the eye surface. His eyelid has been surgically corrected to prevent his eyelid touching the surface of his eye. As such, you will notice that Poptart's eye is slightly mishapen from this surgery, and his eye will weep from time to time and need a soft warm cloth to wipe away his eye crusties. Poptart is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and FIV negative and FeLV negative. His adoption fee is $300. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Story
Shrey is a domestic shorthair buff tabby male who is 2 years old. Shrey has had dental surgery removing the majority of his teeth but should require no further intervention other than yearly check-ups. Meet Shrey, a spirited and playful cat who loves nothing more than a good game of chase-the-laser. His friendly and curious nature means he's always up for an adventure, whether it's exploring new toys or sniffing out hidden treats. Shrey is also quite the comedian, often displaying his goofy side during playtime, much to the amusement of his human friends. But when the games are over, he transforms into a sweet, cuddly purr machine, always ready for a snuggle session. Shrey's fun-loving personality and affectionate nature make him the perfect companion for any family. His ability to bring laughter and love into any home is why Shrey should be your next pet. Shrey would likely do well with proper slow introductions to a new pet friend, dog or cat. Shrey is neutered, microchipped and is fully vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies. He is FIV negative and FeLV negative. Adoption fee is $300. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Story
Vidya is a domestic shorthair white and buff female who is approximately 2 years old. Meet Vidya, a charming feline with a heart full of sweetness and curiousity. Her friendly nature makes her a wobderful companion, ready to explore new corners and engage in playful antics. Yet, there's a touch of shyness that only adds to her charm. She's the kind of cat who'll quietly observe your world before stepping in, ensuring she understands you completely. Her playfulness is infectious, turning even the simplest of toys into an adventure. Adopting Vidya means welcoming a loving, curious, and playful spirit into your life, promising endless joy and companionship. Vidya came from a background with overcrowding and poor, inadequate diet and vetting. Due to this, she is showing early signs of dental disease. We want to caution potential adopters that these case will require proper oral hygiene and dental surgeries by a veterinarian in the future. We highly recommend having annual veterinarian visits and keeping her on a dental diet with water additives to maintain her oral health. Vidya is spayed, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, microchipped, and FIV negative and FeLV negative. Her adoption fee is $300. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Story
Daniel is a domestic shorthair black and white tuxedo male who is one year old. Daniel is currently in foster care with his best bud, Oliver. These two bonded cats meet each other's energy level and are constantly found together in all things. They follow each other around, groom one another, play together, and when all the fun is done, cozy up and sleep together. Due to their bond, they must be adopted as a pair. They would do best in a home where they are the center of attention or with other very confident pets. Hello, I'm Daniel. I'm a friendly and funny guy with a playful spirit that lights up any room. My best friend's name is Oliver, and I need to be adopted with him since we love to play and expend our energy together. I'm energetic, always ready for a game of chase-the-laser or a good romp with a toy mouse. But don't let my lively nature fool you, I'm a cuddle bug at heart. I love nothing more than to curl up on a warm lap, purring contentedly as I receive all the love you're willing to give. I also love to sit in the window and watch the birds and squirrels outside. My favourite toys are springs, my ball maze and my squeaky mouse. I am not just a cat, I'm a companion, a friend, a source of laughter and comfort. I'm looking for a forever home with Oliver where we can share our joy and affection. Adopt us, and we promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and lots of purrs. Daniel is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He is FIV and FeLV negative. His adoption fee is $550 as a pair with Daniel. To apply, please submit an adoption application.
