Meet Remi!About:Remi arrived at the shelter as a very shy stray who had very limited contact with people. She was unsure of the staff and volunteers at first, and while she still isn`t quite brave enough to approach the bars of her kennel, she appreciates some scratches behind the ears! Despite how nervous she has been in the shelter environment, Remi is a total sweetheart who has no interest in biting or scratching no matter how scared she is. For now, Remi is still being worked with by dedicated volunteers who are helping her to open up to her new life, all of whom are sure that she will be able to thrive in a household environment given some more time to decompress. She`s very gentle and will be an amazing companion once she is confident enough with her new family to show off her loving side!Ideal Home: Because of how new to human contact she is, Remi would do best in a calmer home that is willing to allow her time to adjust. Multiple visits with her at the shelter before an adoption would be very helpful in helping Remi to learn her new family`s faces before being brought home!If you are interested in meeting miss Remi and giving her the love and home that she deserves, please give us a call at 705-878-4618, send an email to info@hskl.ca or fill out one of our online adoption applications. Remi is waiting!

Meet Cheeto Age: 6 yearsSex: FemaleAt HSKL since: May 2026Scientists still haven`t figured out why orange cats are the way they are... and Cheeto isn`t about to help solve the mystery. At six years old, Cheeto has perfected the art of being delightfully weird. She`s curious, fearless, playful, and firmly believes that every cupboard, bag, and box deserves a thorough inspection. She`ll keep you laughing with her quirky antics and larger-than-life personality.Cheeto is also a cat who knows exactly what she likes—and, more importantly, what she doesn`t.Other cats? Absolutely not. She has reviewed the idea and declined.Dogs? Hard pass.Kids? Let`s just say she`d rather not share her kingdom with tiny humans who don`t understand the importance of personal space. She`s looking for an adult home where everyone appreciates that the queen makes the rules.Speaking of rules... Cheeto isn`t a fan of being told what to do. If you tell her to get off the counter, she`ll probably think about it... from the counter. But here`s the best part: once you`ve earned a spot in Cheeto`s very exclusive inner circle, she`s incredibly rewarding. She can be wonderfully affectionate, enjoys curling up in your lap, and will happily spend quality time with her favourite person. Her love isn`t given to everyone but that`s what makes it special.Cheeto has been waiting at the shelter since May, and somehow this hilarious, one-of-a-kind girl hasn`t had a single application or even a meet-and-greet. We think someone out there is missing out on one of the shelter`s biggest personalities. If you`re looking for a low-drama cat... keep scrolling. If you`re looking for a funny, independent, opinionated ginger who will make you laugh every day, occasionally ignore your advice, and eventually decide you`re worthy of her affection, then Cheeto is ready to interview you.Just remember... You don`t adopt an orange cat.An orange cat adopts you
