Meet Tillie, a pretty one year old girl who has been having a rough time for the past several weeks. Ever since arriving, she has been extremely wary of all people and hides or even runs from them. I can recall a couple of instances where she bolted away from us because she wanted out so bad. That is how scared she is. We basically have to start from square zero with her in order to help her trust us. We can tell that she wants to be happy and explore; we have caught her getting up and checking out her surroundings when she thinks no one is looking. It's just that she'll need a loving home where she is given the space and time she needs to come out of her shell on her own. She may hide for a while or want nothing to do with you, but that's okay, because as long as you never give up and keep showing her love, she'll eventually grow comfortable with you. She is also spayed and up to date on all her core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. This beautiful lady is Tanisha! She is two years old and still trying to find her place in the world. Since arriving at the shelter, she has been shut down. Preferring not to interact with anything out of fear, she often hides under her bed just to have some peace. It's sad to see a cat in this state; a young cat like her should be enjoying toys and causing mischief, but Tanisha lacks the confidence to enjoy these things. Yet, we are certain that she will gain that confidence in a home where she is shown kindness. We will go to her kennel each day to give her pets, and although she is nervous at first, she will eventually close her eyes and just enjoy the petting sensation. She can grow; we believe in her.
