Story
Meet Apolo – The Loyal, Gentle Shepherd Mix Looking for His Forever Home! Apolo is a 2-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix weighing about 50 lbs. He’s currently being fostered in Mission, and meet-and-greets can be arranged for families who’d love to get to know this wonderful boy. Apolo was found wandering the streets of Guadalajara, Mexico when he was just a young pup. Trying to survive on his own, Apolo was scooped up by our rescue partners and taken into their care. In July, he flew to BC in search of his happily ever after! Personality & Temperament: Apolo is incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate. He enjoys relaxing beside his people, happily greets them with a signature “hug” when they return home, and loves showing his playful side with games of catch, chewing sticks, or interacting with toys. He has also been gentle and kind with children he’s met. Training & Home Life: House trained: Mostly, with just a couple of “excited accidents” that improve with reminders. Sleeping routine: He has a room with a comfy bed and toys, but likes to snooze near his humans when they’re home. He occasionally wakes briefly at night for food or water, then quickly settles back down. Separation: No anxiety—he does very well when left alone. Commands: He already knows sit and stay and politely waits for permission before taking food. He’s very responsive to treat-based training. Leash & Outdoor Adventures: Apolo would be a great match for someone who loves outdoor adventures! Off-leash, Apolo is fantastic—sticking close and checking in often. He very much enjoys his off-leash time, running around and chasing his ball. Apolo is still building confidence on leash. He may pull, get jumpy with loud noises, or freeze in large crowds. With gentle redirection and affection, he settles down, but an escape-proof harness is recommended to keep him secure. Other Pets & Socialization: Dogs: Friendly and social—he enjoys play if another dog invites it. Apolo would do great in a home with or without a fellow dog to romp and play with. Cats: Very curious about his foster’s cat, sometimes a little too forward, so supervised introductions and managed spaces work best. However, no aggression with cats. People: He warms up quickly and shows his sweet, respectful nature. Why You’ll Love Him: Apolo is the kind of dog who will be your best friend and playmate. He has the perfect mix of fun, affection, and respect. He’s also been wonderful with children, always gentle and kind during interactions. With ongoing guidance on the leash and patience as he builds confidence in noisy settings, Apolo will thrive and bring so much joy to his forever family. Location: Fostered in Mission Age: 2 years Weight: 50 lbs Breed: Dutch Shepherd mix If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s as loving as he is playful, Apolo is waiting to meet you! VETTING: Fully vaccinated Neutered Dewormed SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma) Flea/tick/heartworm prevention No known medical issues or injuries PLEASE NOTE: Apolo is currently fostered in the Mission. Meet and greets can be arranged! ##2219482##

Story
Breed: Dutch Shep X Age: 4 year Weight: 46 lbs Housing: Detached home, townhome or apartment Health Status: Spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped, has arthritis in left front foot but no treatment needed. Skona is a lovely and gentle girl with a reserved nature. She can be shy at first, but with a little time and reassurance she opens up beautifully. Once she trusts you, Skona shines and she brightens in the company of her favorite people, loves gentle affection, and happily plays fetch. Skona tends to be hesitant when meeting new people while in her kennel, but she shows much better on walks or in the exercise yard, where she feels more relaxed and confident. She has a balanced energy level: enough stamina for walks and outdoor adventures, but also content to curl up for a quiet day at home. With other dogs, Skona has been okay with most at the shelter, though she has a few she does not get along with. She would benefit from being a solo dog but could maybe have dog friends. She has not yet been cat tested, but staff will be working to complete that. Training Needed Skona doesn’t need extensive or advanced training—what she needs most is patience, consistency, and gentle reassurance. Building trust at her pace will help her continue to gain confidence. Slow introductions to new people and animals are important. Continued socialization, obedience refreshers, and positive reinforcement will help her settle into her new life and strengthen her bond with her adopter. Ideal Home Skona will thrive in a calmer household that respects her sensitive nature. A home with no young children—or one with older, quiet, respectful teens—would be the best match for her, as loud noises and sudden activity can be overwhelming. If there is another dog in the home, they should be well-matched in energy and temperament, and a meet-and-greet at the shelter is recommended to ensure compatibility. Skona will need a family willing to give her time to decompress, settle in, and grow comfortable at her own pace. In return, Skona offers loyalty, sweetness, and a “go with the flow” attitude—whether you’re taking a peaceful hike or enjoying a cozy day indoors, she’ll be happy simply being included. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? Story
My name is Ms. Marley and I am an affectionate, sweet, playful, smart, and quiet 3 year old gal. I am part Belgian Malinois and part Labrador retriever. I weigh about 62 lbs and I measure about 20 inches at my shoulder. There is a good chance that I will greatly benefit from a 'job' within my family home. After all, my breed background is to be a working dog. I am not likely to be a dog who sits in front of the fire and just relaxes most of the day.  When I was about four or five months old, I got a viral enteritis causing diarrhea. My then “owner” didn’t want to spend the money to get me treated so I was dropped off at the terrible shelter in Wuhan, China. The terrible shelter wouldn’t take me because they didn’t want to spend the money treating me either. A really nice lady volunteer took me to her vet to get me treated and brought me to her shelter. I have been at her shelter for about a year. I am a good girl who loves to play, being still a young pup. I get along very well with the other dogs and I also love my rescuer and her family. I so long to have a family I can call my own and to flourish with them. I'm told that I am very trainable. So far, I have some leash-walking skills and I have a nice relationship with my rescuer's young daughter. I don't know any cats so I'm not sure how I would be around them. I have been spayed, microchipped, and immunized. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2053001##

Story
My name is Sorme, and here is a little info about me:Breed: Shepard mix (possibly Indian Pariah/German Shepherd mix)Age: 2 1/2 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 26 kgHeight: 20 inches Country of origin: Middle EastHighlight(s): Sweet, obedient, great with kids and dogs, fast learner A little about me:Hello, my name is Sorme! I’m a sunshine soul with big ears and a bigger heart! I love cuddles, treats, and learning new things that make you smile. I was found as a tiny, frightened puppy wandering the streets of the Middle East—hungry, alone, and unsure of the world around me. I didn’t know what love felt like… until kind humans took me in, gave me warmth, safety, and the care I desperately needed. Now, I’m ready to share all the love I’ve been saving up with my forever family. I’m very friendly, obedient, and a fast learner. I love people and other dogs, especially kids who like to play! I’m eager to please and always up for a game or a cuddle. My heart is full of trust and joy—I just need a loving home to give it to. I'd do well in a home that enjoys companionship and is looking for a smart, affectionate dog. If you have other pups or kids, I’ll fit right in. I haven’t met cats yet, so I’m not sure about them, but I’m open to new friends!More About Me: Energy Level: Moderate to High —I love walks, playtime, and learning tricks, but I’m also happy to relax near you after a good day. I Get Along With: Dogs: Yes! I love doggy friends. Cats: Unknown – I haven’t met any yet. Kids: Unknown – Yes! Fears: None observed, but please be patient as I adjust to my new environment. I promise to blossom with your love. Training: Leash skills: Yes, but please continue to guide me in my new home.House trained: Yes but please continue to guide me in my new home. Health Notes:I am healthy and ready to go!I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is 800 CAD plus applicable taxes. Due to the present confrontational Middle East environment where this dog resides, airlines are minimally operating. He/She may therefore be delayed in arriving to Canada. He/She will eventually be sent, but we have no specified timeframe at this moment. If you are willing to wait, we and this dog appreciate your patience. Most passengers from the Middle East now require a fee to accompany a dog on a flight. Due to this, if a rescuer finds a flight with this requirement, we will contact you to see if you are willing to pay the passenger. You are under no obligation to do this. If not, another flight will need to be searched for, though there is no guarantee a free or lower cost one will be found. Though oft times a passenger is requesting higher amounts, the fee will not exceed $250. Our rescuers work extremely hard finding flights and spend tremendous amounts of money caring for and sending these dogs to safety. They simply haven't the extra money to cover this. Thank you for your understanding. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##2365208##

Story
Good day! I'm MARLIN (Martin) and here is a bit of info about me: Breed: German Shepherd / CannanAge: 8 yearsGender: MaleWeight: 56 lbs / 25 kgHeight: TBDCountry of origin: IsraelHighlights: Handsome, energetic, smart, smiley, active Check out this smile! After seven long years of waiting in a shelter, I’m finally ready to bring my endless energy and happy spirit to a yard of my very own. Confiscated from a neglectful home when I was just a year old, I’ve spent the last seven years living in a local shelter. While it’s been a long wait since 2018, I’ve never lost my happy, smiley spirit. It is finally time for me to find a real, stable home environment where I can belong. I am a very smiley and happy boy! Being a smart pupper, I’ve already mastered basic training like walking with a halti, heel, sit, down, and place. I’m quite energetic and live for the outdoors, never saying no to an adventure. While I can play nicely with other dogs, being a bit selective means I’d honestly prefer to be the only resident dog in my forever home, more attention for me!I’m even a brave boy who stays calm at the vet's office. My dream is an active family with an experienced owner who can continue my training and review what I know.Since I’m happiest outdoors, a home with a yard would be perfect to help me slowly acclimate to living inside.Because I’ve lived in a shelter for so long, a house is a new concept to me, so a little time and patience to understand that "home is a great place to be" is all I ask. See me in action: https://youtu.be/Ua0EzZr-qNchttps://youtu.be/Lr8EJ2Zkc1I.  https://youtu.be/udM_Cc-MOgk. Energy Level: high Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No, as I live in a shelter environment. Please be prepared to help me learn! Health notes:I’m healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
