Story
Rory is a sweet, independent girl who has officially retired from the chaos of life and is now focused on the important things: soft beds, regular meals, and keeping a quiet watch over her people. She’s not a cuddle bug—and that’s okay. Rory prefers to share space rather than be in your lap. She likes to know where her humans are at all times and will happily follow you from room to room, then settle into her dog bed nearby to supervise. Rory is calm and low-key. Visitors don’t faze her—she’ll likely snooze right through a holiday gathering. Car rides? No problem. She simply curls up and sleeps. She currently lives with two large dogs and does just fine, enjoys a little playtime a few times a day, and would likely be okay with cats as well. Rory enjoys exploring the yard and would do best with a fenced area. She’s not great on a leash, so yard time is her happy place. She’s not demanding, not clingy, and not flashy. Rory is for the person or couple who is mostly home, appreciates quiet companionship, and understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddling—it can look like a watchful presence, a wagging tail at shoe time, and gentle mouthing that says, “Hey, don’t forget about me.” Rory just wants a soft place to land and people she can keep an eye on. If you’re looking for a peaceful companion who will share your space—and your routine—she might be your perfect match. If you are interested in learning more about Rory, please call 812-988-7362 or submit an adoption application at the link below. After the application is received, an adoption counselor can reach out to you directly. https://www.bchumane.org/adoption-application/ *All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested, current on parasite prevention and microchipped.

Story
Rio is a GSD that is 1 year old, we got him at 8 weeks old from a family friend who is a breeder of GSDs. We are rehoming him due to behavioral and personality changes that occurred after he starting having seizures. He was diagnosed with epilepsy in October 2025. He is on medication that he takes 2 times a day which control the seizures. After he had the first several seizures his personality changed and he is always in an excited state. We have small young children and no longer trust him around them due to more nipping than normal and he no longer respects boundaries. He has had the 7 week basic command training before his seizures, he still does recall all the commands but requires more attention that we can give now. He is incredibly smart and a would do well with some strict training. We tried more training sessions in Nov 2025 and the trainer said he is trainable but will require time. The trainer also recommended a home with no young children to give him the best chance.

Story
Charlie is such a sweet girl and it kills me to have to rehome her, but I have to go to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to have some health issues addressed. She does not get along with other small dogs, and if any other type of dog shows her aggression or growls, she shows aggression back. She would do well in a home where it is just her. She loves people and children and is the sweetest girl.

Good with kids, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Rex is a special needs dog because he lost his front left paw to another dog when he was just a puppy. So instead of just giving him a partial leg, they took it off at the shoulder. He is a good dog and loves to play and cuddle. he has mostly been an inside dog because of his missing leg. He does tire easily went out walking because he hops on his right front leg. He is how trained and does not chew on anything in the house. He can be left alone in the house during the day while you were gone, but then needs to be let out to go to the bathroom. he needs a special home where he can be outside and not have to be locked up in a house or an apartment or even a small yard. He loves open spaces.
