Diesel Is a 4 years old sweet, smart strong dog I've got him when he was 3 months old. I think he needs more attention more training, more activities since Diesel is full of energy he needs all these things that I cant provide for him. I'll keep him home until we find someone who understands this breed and is willing to take care of him. He has learned comands like Sit Down Up Wait Jump Stay. He's been around children all his life and he is gentle and protective with our children.

Story
Meet Opie!! Meet Opie! He was an owner who surrendered to a local shelter and needed rescue only because the stress of the shelter got to him. Opie is 4 yrs-old GS Malinois Dutch shepherd mix. Sadly he's lived a very confined neglected isolated sheltered life. In other words, he had lazy 💩 owners. As of 11/4, Opie is a sweet, gentle giant but reserved and timid. We have learned that allowing him to approach you on his time is best. 12/22 He loves his people once his trust is gained. Which takes 0 time and effort on the human part. 2/10 Everyone he has meets he has done awesome with. He is willing to try but does needs encouragement. He strives for guidance and needs consistency, routine, and simple daily exercise as well as structured discipline. He is a simple dog always wanting to please. But his confidence cannot be rushed instead when meeting any new folks he needs people to ignore him as if he's not present, do not approach, touch, talk to him or make eye contact and this alone makes meeting anyone easy and possible. 2/17 Opie thrives with companionship and desires physical and verbal acknowledgment from his people. He wants to belong and be part of his people every day life. No reactivity toward cats, or dogs, nor does he have any resource-guarding behaviors. He however is a follower and he needs constant guidance. Opie is good on a leash, still needs work but it's manageable. Very food and praise/affection motivated. 1/22 Opie is currently ongoing heartworm treatment and doing well. Opie is a dog that requires more than basic dog knowledge. He needs leadership and guidance and someone confident and in control at all times. To be continued: Opie is house and crate trained, neuteted, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona, 3-year rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Opie like every AHS dog comes with our lifetime support. Updated: 2/26/2023 We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets. Story
Winston is the kind of dog who seems to approach life with full enthusiasm and very little hesitation. When staff first met him, he came running over as soon as he heard someone whistling, ready to play and interact right away. Since arriving at the shelter, he has continued showing friendly, social behavior, greeting people with loose wags, happily coming over when called, and enjoying time outside getting fresh air and attention. He also has a silly, overexcited side that pops out when he is really feeling himself, which honestly just makes him feel even more like an oversized puppy trying to figure out how to channel all that energy. Winston looks like a dog who will thrive with structure, activity, and people who appreciate a playful personality. He enjoys interaction and connection but also has enough independence to wander around and do his own thing between check-ins. With continued guidance and outlets for his energy, Winston has all the makings of a really fun companion for someone who wants a dog that brings a little humor, personality, and enthusiasm into everyday life. All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter`s care. This beautiful 5 year old German Shepherd is looking for someone who understands that a big dog can still have a sensitive side.Monet is affectionate, enjoys being close to her person, and likes attention from people she trusts. She also did wonderfully for grooming here, which is a pretty great detail for a shepherd with all that coat. She hopped right into the tub and let staff pamper her like a pro.Shelter life can be hard on dogs like Monet. She is a smart, strong dog who can get jumpy when excited and can startle at times, so she will do best with someone who can give her clear guidance and help her settle into a routine. Claire`s Compatibility: Dogs: Bring your pup for a meet & greet Cats: Not a good fitKids: Yes, 10+Claire is a young, energetic German Shepherd with a zest for life and a love of playtime. She’s always ready to chase after her favorite toys or enjoy a peanut butter treat. Since she’s still learning about the world, Claire would really benefit from training, and it’s a wonderful way for her to bond with her new family. Not much is known about Claire’s past since she arrived as a stray, but she’s eager to start her next chapter with someone who can show her the ropes. If you’re looking for a playful companion who’s ready to learn and grow by your side, Claire could be the perfect match!

Story
Carlos` Compatibility:Dogs - Let`s have a meet & greetCats - A cat-free home is bestKids - Older kids (~10+) would be the best fitCarlos is a German Shepherd with a lot of heart and a lot of comeback energy. When he arrived, Carlos needed serious care. He was very underweight and dealing with a painful skin condition, so our team got right to work helping him feel better. He’s been gaining weight, healing, and slowly starting to look more like the handsome shepherd he was always meant to be.Now that Carlos is feeling better, his personality is coming through. He’s smart, energetic, and ready to learn! This is a dog who wants something to do, someone to work with, and a life that gives his busy shepherd brain a real job. Training with Carlos won’t just be helpful, it could be really rewarding. He has that “teach me what you want and I’ll try my heart out” kind of energy.Carlos is looking for a cat-free home and would do best with kids around 10 and up. He’ll need continued exercise and patience as he settles into home life, but there’s so much good in this boy. He just needs someone willing to help him turn all that energy into something great.Carlos still has some settling in to do, and he’s more than ready for someone who will help him put that big shepherd brain to good use. If you’re looking for an active dog who is eager to learn, Carlos would love to show you what he can do!
